Pics from places 5-10 minutes from my house (East Hempfield Township, Lancaster, PA):

All is fine at my home. Weather gurus said we got about 12" of rain in 36 hours (an hour north got 20" and all that runoff is coming this way). Daughter had minor flooding in her basement.

Streams are all receding except Susquehanna River (10 minutes from me) - will crest tomorrow. Revised estimates of Susquehanna crest are a little lower but still highest water since Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

You don't happen to have any before pics as comparables do you? It is always neat to see before, during, and after pics. It is amazing of how much we deny the fact of what will happen when rivers swell and how much is actually affected.

I know where i grew up, just outside of town (Fort Atkinson if any of you know where that is in Wisconsin) there is an island where the Rock river comes into Lake Koshkonong. Just about every spring that island floods. There are about 30 houses, 1 bar, and 2 restaurants there. The county has been trying to buy the island and turn it into a park/nature area. The people won't move. They just repair/rebuild. A lot of them are now built on basements above ground just to get high enough to clear the floods. The floods we had in '08 hit them pretty hard. Highest levels we had ever seen that i know of. Most of Jefferson, (city 5 mins north of Fort) was under water. Rivers/lakes/water are crazy forces.

Hey guys. Just checking in. It's been a crazy day at work today.

Got lots of paperwork done and several conversations with opposing counsels/parties.

Then, one of the older attorneys in the office asked for help with undocking her laptop and showing her how to access Email through the web portal. No problem. I go to her office. Show her how to undock. Show her how to access Outlook Web Access. Make sure she has the correct web address for it noted, just in case the URL doesn't get saved. I offer to dock it again for her and she says, "no, just leave it undocked."

Ten minutes later I get a panicked phone call. It's the older attorney. "Now I can't get my computer to turn on at all!!" OK. Calm down. I'll be right there to take a look. She's staring at the blank 22" LCD monitor on her desk, and tapping the space bar on the desktop keyboard. I walk in and she says, "I keep pushing the power button on the docking station, but the computer won't come on at all."

I look at the laptop, disconnected from the docking station, and sitting on her credenza.

Um. That's your computer. It will work connected to the dock, or not connected. But if it's NOT in the dock, it's not connected to the 22" monitor or the desktop keyboard or the office network.

Not of these spots but I'll probably go down to the Susquehanna River tonight or in the morning and take some pics at high water - I'll try to shoot from the same general area.

Here's before pics:

In these photos, the water is prob 35' deep +/-. If the forecasters are correct, it will be about end up about 58' deep in this location (Marietta/Columbia).

Wow! My brother lives up that way and is currently on vacation. Wonder what he'll be coming home to...

I hope the worst is past for you guys.

I must concur with you diagnoses

Have a great weekend guys. I am going to drown myself in tears this weekend with the news that Manning is out.

My DW did tell me the bright side is that the Colts would suck enough this year to draft that Luck kid out of Stanford.

Thanks honey, that makes me feel better :lmao:

Have a little faith!!! GO COLTS!!!

Actually, the money spent to go get Kerry Collins should have been spent to upgrade the line. No QB, besides a guy named Peyton, Drew, Tom, Aaron or Michael is ever going to be able to cover up that deficiency.:rolleyes1

By the way... how are you feeling about that draft pick?

I believe that was Peyton Manning, #1 overall. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Good thing he covered himself with Matty Ice.

Wait, that doesn't sound good. Um, good job picking up Matt Ryan as a backup.

You guys don't eve know what you're talking about anyway. Everybody knows the Bungles are going to own the AFC North this year.

It went well. I said everything that I wanted to say and left nothing out. The local scout council (which oversees the Troops) was somewhat horrified to hear what was going on and promised to start surprise drop in's at the Troop meetings and activities. They also reassured me that what I was seeing was in no way part of the scout program and that I was not over-reacting (something I was concerned about). I was very careful to come from an angle of not "tattling" but concerned as a parent and as the leader of the younger Pack of scouts (that feeds into this troop) that the current leaders needed additional help and support and was not providing for the safety of the boys (too much bullying and no leadership from the assitant scout masters). We'll see what develops. My "action plans" as a result of my meeting with the council were to offer my name as replacing the current Committee Chair (which I've done). If they appoint me chair, then I have a large list of changes that I can make at their suggestion. If they don't, then the council will either work with me to start a new Troop in town or to find another Troop in the area for my sons and for the other younger scouts that I am charged with from my Pack so they won't need to go to this dysfunctional Troop (depending on what my perference is).

And actually, since I started typing this, I've gotten two more emails from the council following up on our conversation, so hopefully they will move forward from their end.

Well done. Your boys and the other scouts are lucky to have someone as concerned and involved as you are. Kudos.

:thumbsup2 <= Big Thumb!

It looks like it's official. I found out this morning. I got the job. :woohoo:

I gave notice to my current job and will be finishing here the first week of October. Not sure of my exact start date at the new place, but I imagine it would be around the middle of October.

The downside: we will have to move again. :mad: Also, we don't really know anyone in the new city, so the wife's worried she's going to be extremely bored.

Other than that...

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay::yay::banana: :banana: :banana:

CONGRATS!!! :banana::cheer2::dance3::yay::woohoo:

For all of you getting hit hard with rain, if "youse guys" don't mind... send some of that rain down my way! It is so hot and dry here, stuff is bursting into flames! (I hope all is well with those of you getting so much of a pounding, though.)

well, with all this football talk, in honor of my vacation ticker, to quote the great michael irving, "michael, you have just won your third super bowl (for you eagle fans, the super bowl is the nfls game in which the years champion is decided):lmao:what are you going to do now????? im goin to disney world!!!!" :woohoo:

Thanks, everyone! :cloud9: I'd try to multi-quote and thank you all personally, but it's 6am here and I just got home from celebrating with my wife and co-workers (there isn't a real "closing time" in Korea...if a bar closes, you can always go to a restaurant or a convenience store and get more beer or whatever...we left before closing time and did about 3 hours at a singing room, or rentable karaoke room with booze...)...yet, surprisingly, I'm not drunk...just exhausted...:faint:
