Fairy Tales
My friend likes to read his two young sons fairy tales at night. Having a deep-rooted sense of humor, he often ad-libs parts of the stories for fun.

One day his youngest son was sitting in his first grade class as the teacher was reading the story of the Three Little Pigs. She came to the part of the story where the first pig was trying to acquire building materials for his home. She said "...And so the pig went up to the man with a wheelbarrow full of straw and said 'Pardon me sir, but might I have some of that straw to build my house with?'" Then the teacher asked the class "And what do you think that man said?" and my friend's son raised his hand and said "I know! I know! He said 'Holy smokes! A talking Pig!'" The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes.

Mornin' Guys....

Spent the night on the couch listening to make sure the sump pump was running. We ended up getting over 3 inches of rain here last night!

Darn Lake kept producing a constant band of rain that went right over my house. 30 minutes east or west of me they barely got a half inch!

I know it's nothing compared to you east coast guys....but we weren't supposed to get hardly any rain.

Thankfully, the pump seems to be holding and running about every 40 seconds or so! :scared1:

Problem is, we're supposed to get more rain today and tomorrow.

Happy Day!! :cool1:

I know that feeling! Had the same "up al night" experience during Hurricane Irene, just sitting and praying the power would stay on. Hope you get some rest and relief!

Checked my rain gauge this morning...since Tuesday night and through till this morning....it said 6.5" of rain!

Does mother nature know we're not supposed to get hurricane like rains in Ohio!!?

Neighbor down the street has a flooded basement....hope my pump holds out!

I'm right there with ya....maybe Andy can make a stop up here in Northern Ohio before he comes to your place!

I might need to pump the pond out of my backyard before it could be cut though! :rotfl:

I would rather have the bottom car (I have done more with less:scared1:) Theres nothing like the feeling from saving a car from the crusher and turning it into a show car:woohoo: I love the Junkyard Escapees:goodvibes

Are those a French make? I've never heard of the "Es-cop-ay" before. :confused3

You guys are getting what we had all spring. :headache: Things started off wet, then we set a record for consecutive days over 90 and the least rainfall ever for the month of July. The tractor has been parked in the shed hooked to the mower for a few weeks. Come and get it, we haven't had much need for it. :lmao::rotfl2: I'd ask you to send us some of that rain and you can take our dry weather, but it's about a month too late to do us any good.:headache:

This weather is killing us... We haven't harvested anything yet, but some guys in the area have started the past few days. On an average year we usually see about 165-170 bushels per acre of corn and on a "bad" year, corn around here usually still makes a minimum of 130 bushels per acre. This year, between the late planting and the dry summer our corn is horrible. The corn coming in from our customers so far is averaging about 40 - 60 bushels per acre.:scared1: Between things picking up at work and being stressed about an extreme lack of income my stress level this week has gone off the charts.

Bummer, Steve! Wouldn't it be nice to get paid and not to have to work?

Anyway, I got a call last night from my brother and his wife. Their newborn baby tested positive for one of the newborn screens for thyroid levels, so they had to go in and get retested. A lot of the time those are false-positive tests (they set the levels really sensitive so as not to miss anyone) but that doesn't help to alleviate the worry! They should get the repeat test back this am...

And I'm off to my local scout council to have a "difficult conversation" with them about how I feel our Troop is doing living up to the scout law and protecting the safety of the boys...

All in all, I nice quiet day :lmao:

i happen to live along the old rain train myself. we have sold over 400 sump pumps in the last 4 weeks and we are out. the local home cheapos and blowes dont have any or any of the hardware stores. we were selling sewage pumps for sump pumps (there $400) we are now out of them. the local fire dept. are running around pumping basements. they have evacuated alot of the towns in the scanton, wilks area. (were they play the little league world series) even major routes in harrisburg and philly are closed due to flooding and mud slides. i got another 2 inches over night and its is raining pretty hard again. its starting to rain for an hour than stop for about 8 hours or so. i watch the local weather and they will show the town next to me and its not raining, i look out the window and its pouring. the good news is its suppose to clear up on TUESDAY!!!:scared1:

Andy, I hope things get better. A farmer who attends the same parish I go to said he is expecting bad yields as well. Guys, let's keep all of these farmers in our prayers :grouphug:

Remember whatever you do and no matter how good a deal the stores say, NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a refurb Xbox. The first gen were all heat sinks, and died pretty quickly.
