Ron and Chris - Good to hear all is well on the medical front:thumbsup2

T minus less than 24 hours....at 1300 (1 PM) Local EST, DisneyFed, DW and the G-man will be headed south on I 95 for the very long 3.5 hour drive to Disney for a week.

Do you expect me to beleive that it has EVER, in your entire life, taken you 3.5 hours to go from your place to Orlando?:lmao:

While you're at BPS hook G-Man up with some steel braided line for his gator gear!

Her defense doesn't stand a chance, the're is no such thing as too much bacon.

It looks like it's official. I found out this morning. I got the job. :woohoo:

Great news!

It went well. I said everything that I wanted to say and left nothing out. The local scout council (which oversees the Troops) was somewhat horrified to hear what was going on and promised to start surprise drop in's at the Troop meetings and activities. They also reassured me that what I was seeing was in no way part of the scout program and that I was not over-reacting (something I was concerned about). I was very careful to come from an angle of not "tattling" but concerned as a parent and as the leader of the younger Pack of scouts (that feeds into this troop) that the current leaders needed additional help and support and was not providing for the safety of the boys (too much bullying and no leadership from the assitant scout masters). We'll see what develops. My "action plans" as a result of my meeting with the council were to offer my name as replacing the current Committee Chair (which I've done). If they appoint me chair, then I have a large list of changes that I can make at their suggestion. If they don't, then the council will either work with me to start a new Troop in town or to find another Troop in the area for my sons and for the other younger scouts that I am charged with from my Pack so they won't need to go to this dysfunctional Troop (depending on what my perference is).

And actually, since I started typing this, I've gotten two more emails from the council following up on our conversation, so hopefully they will move forward from their end.

Great Job Chris....hope it all turns out well in the end and you get your sons in a troop that enriches their lives the way scouting is supposed to!

it hasnt rained here for almost 12 hours now. :worship:

Hey guys. Hope everyone's off to a great Friday!

It looks like it's official. I found out this morning. I got the job. :woohoo:

I gave notice to my current job and will be finishing here the first week of October. Not sure of my exact start date at the new place, but I imagine it would be around the middle of October.

The downside: we will have to move again. Also, we don't really know anyone in the new city, so the wife's worried she's going to be extremely bored.

Other than that...

Tell her you're retrofitting it to be able to clear the driveway of toads once they start falling from the sky.

Seeing what you guys are used to recently that has to be considered the start of a drought.

My wife freaks out if we hit a bird with the car. I always laugh and make sure she understands that out of trillions of air space in the sky, the bird chose my 15 feet of cubic space to be in at exactly the precise second. I love nature, but also grow up around possums running across the road way too much. Natural selection is real.

:thumbsup2 we rented an 18 foot blow up water slide for dd graduation party in july. the big and little kids had a blast. even some adults had fun with it. have a great time!!!!:thumbsup2

I know I'll be in there, I've already been asked a few times "You're going in, right?" I'm pretty sure it will screw up my back so that I'll have to just sit on the couch all day Sunday. Hmmmm, Sunday is opening day for football, isn't it? :cool2:

All is fine at my home. Weather gurus said we got about 12" of rain in 36 hours (an hour north got 20" and all that runoff is coming this way). Daughter had minor flooding in her basement.

Streams are all receding except Susquehanna River (10 minutes from me) - will crest tomorrow. Revised estimates of Susquehanna crest are a little lower but still highest water since Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

Wow. That's some devastating rainfall. I feel bad for you guys going through that right now. We had a similar 12" overnight storm in south central IN a few years ago and we're still dealing with after effects in the form of road/bridge issues on county roads and it changed the way everything drains now. I hope you guys all stay safe and dry. Hopefully it will end soon and the water will be able to run off.

I must have missed the lead to this. Sounds interesting and possibly similar to our pack, which I have been picked to take over for the current Cubmaster in about 6 months. That is if he makes it that long. We have some money issues we are currently looking into. (His wife is the treasurer). May not be anything and just misplaced money but as of last month money is missing.:confused3 Our pack needs a major overhaul also.:headache:

I've been really busy at work so I haven't had much opportunity to post. Can't believe my trip is only 2 weeks away.
