So most of us here in Raleigh felt the quake. I was in the bathroom so I missed it, but DW did text to say the house was shaking and swaying. Upon re-reading that sentence I think I should clarify that the bathroom I was in was not at our home.

I hope that all the other dads made is through safely. We're supposed to go waterskiing and wakeboarding this weekend on lake Gaston, but thank to Irene it looks like we will have a rousing weekend of working on puzzles with the family at a lake house instead.

In case anyone is wondering, we didn't feel it in Wisconsin. We have no massive storms bearing down on us. And our beer is cold. Anyone want to crash on my couch for a few days?

Hey guys. I am not hearing reports of too much damage. Over the entire area, some higher structures took some damage from, basically, swaying and cracking. The National Cathedral in DC actually seems to have take a pretty bad hit.

Two nuclear plants in VA have shut down operations pending safety checks.

Up here (about 100 miles away from the epicenter, which was in Mineral, VA), we got a pretty solid shaking for a minute or so, and just got some dust from the ceiling tiles on the desk.

It was impossible to make a cell phone call for a while, but Twitter and Facebook were amazingly useful. Love living in the future.

Glad you're ok. Did you have Taco Bell for lunch?

Glad you're doing ok. Sorry to hear about the Cathedral--that's a beautiful building.

If you're still in the future, can you send back some winning lottery numbers? :confused3

Earthquake & Hurricane vs Pregnant Wife. Hmmmm, Barry if it's all the same to you, I'll stay here. :rotfl2:

It's possible the whole East coast could feel the wrath of Irene. Praying she makes her way out to sea instead...

Ike hit us in KY and tore the shingles off my roof. Maybe we should stop naming these with an "I".

Did anyone else when they heard the Huricane named Irene immediately have the song "Come on Eileen" pop in their heads?

Oh really.....I'm the only one.....:headache:

"Goodnight Irene" is the song I'm thinking of.

I actually thought of Black Hawk Down. "Irene" was the code word meaning their mission was a go.

Opinions?

I currently have my 2012 trip for Aug 25 (the week before labour day).

Free Dining starts Aug 19. DW wants to change our trip to Aug 19 - the day FD starts (a Sunday), this way we have a week to recoup before sending the little ones back to school. I think it may be busier the week of 8/19 simply because it is first week of FD. What do you guys think? And is anyone here going either of those weeks?

August is HOT, whenever you go. But, like Aaron said, the 1st week of FD won't make it that much busier. I like the idea of down time before school starts. But, I am old and need the time.

ok guys, Got another question.
I am going in the first week of Feb. 3-11. Now where would be a good place to watch it at Disney world? I would like to catch some of the Packers again that day. Just wondering.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I don't think they'll be there either, but ESPN club is where to watch the superbowl. Just get there early if you want a seat.

We'll see how the next few weeks go. Last year they had a pajama day once a month at the school, I went in for teacher conferences and there are a bunch of pictures of DS with his arms around various teachers and assistants (just the cute ones though:thumbsup2). DW told me to wipe the grin off my face and stop staring.

Maybe we need to start a Hot Teacher Picture thread. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::yay::laughing:

Yeah, that whole picture thing? My oldest has a hot 22 year old teacher. How does this work? Excuse me, teacher of my child who could also be my biological child, I think you're really hot and need to take your picture for 650 DisDads. Really? Thanks. Now, could you remove a little more clothing ...

Or, maybe I'll hide the camera under my arm and try to take sneak pictures. :scared1: Headline: Child's parent photographs hot teachers

If anyone can figure out a good script for this, please let me know.
