Thanks for the welcomes from several of you all. I appreciate it.

The name is Ben. I'm a college computer science professor in northeast Iowa. I've been married for 18 lovely years to a women who truly is my best friend. I thought that was a cliche until I got lucky enough to find her. Together we have three incredible kids. Margaret is 11, Caroline is 7, and James just turned four yesterday. They are great kids and love to play along with the trips to Disney and the planning that is involved. We have several guidebooks that are held together with book tape because they are so well read by the entire family.

I never intended to be a DIS addict. Really, I didn't. It started simply enough... mom and dad would take us for a single day trip when we spent Christmas in Florida with my grandparents. Every three years like clockwork when I was growing up. After I went to college and then after we got married the trips didn't happen that often although we always thought about going back. Then in 2008 my folks took the entire family (all 15 of us ranging from 71 years to 8 months) for a week off property but including a day each at each park. My family flew in early and spent four days at Pop and toured some on our own to get started. The rest, as they say, is history.

We will be heading back for a week in December for what will be my 10th trip overall dating back to the early days of MK and my family's third trip in four years. I realize that's not even that much for many of you all, but it still surprises me that it has become my life. Dang cheap airfare, free dining, and my willingness to skip a day or two of school near vacations...

Welcome, Ben! What you are seeing here is a race to the finish to close out the thread. Typically, they go 250 pages, but the moderators close it out manually and we've gone almost 400 pages before (part of the reason they gave us our own sub-board!) There's some prestige in closing the thread, and also some with getting the top (i.e. "owning") of a page.

If you don't mind, put your name in your signature so it is easier to remember! Brian (twokids0204) refuses to do it, but he's been around so long he gets grandfathered in!

Okay, do we even have a theme anymore for this blitz? :confused3

Yeah, I'm a bit frightened. In the ten minutes it took me to write a response about who I am the thread grew by several pages. How the heck am I ever going to keep up!

I have no good photos of it but one of my brewing buddies makes a beer called "Kevin Bacon Porter" He actually infuses it with bacon. It doesn't QUITE taste like bacon but the newbies always detect there is SOMETHING in there that they just can't place.:drinking1:
