Cooking update: 2 lbs of bacon cooked, about 1/3 of that now in my stomach. Cook = taste tester :lmao:. Got a pound of the Wal Mart Philly Cheese steak meat cooked too: yeah, it's not the real thing, but that along with 4 pieces of cheese and 4 hoagie buns can feed my family for less that $10 at WDW, so I'll take it when trying to save a buck. Also have the full Illuninations Area Music Loop going from DTuneslive and I'm glad that I'm flying solo tonight or DW would tell me turn it down. If ya'll don't know about DTunes, its a great Disney site that plays EVERYTHING that has to do with Disney, including the monorail loop saying that is now in our thread title (dtuneslive.com). Check it out sometime when you get the chance. Finally, I've got a huge chocolate chip cookie that's about to disappear:cool1:

Apropos of nothing, you don't happen to have some of those emergency cardiac electric paddle things nearby, do you? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Do I go to the game even though we know nothing about soccer, but have great seats and will probably have a good time, game starts at 7:30pm and is a hour away, next day we leave for VA:confused3

or

Go to my friends party in Del and stay over nite, either way we are heading to VA the next day, if we go to Del we will be 1 1/2 hours ahead of travel time plus there will be much booze to drink:yay: plus I would have $200 spending cash:confused3

Should I be insulted that you're having a hard time choosing between an event you care nothing about and being in Delaware? :confused3 :rotfl:

Actually, talking with the local union steward (she works in our store), revealed that Saturday night yielded another incident, which I know nothing much about. No wonder boss is pissed, the store is falling apart before his eyes. Something will HAVE to be done.

Sorry you're having so many issues at work. I'm sure I can speak for a lot of us who...let's say, don't care for our jobs...that we feel your pain. It's nice to have a place to vent, isn't it?

Oh look, Vancouver fans are rioting again.....classy.

Rant Time

As for Vancouver, I have to say I am VERY DISSAPOINTED.

Don't get me wrong, I am not dissapointed at the Vancouver Canucks, their orginaization, or any one player (Like Luongo :lmao:).

But I am very dissapointed in the City of Vancouver's reaction after the Stanley Cup loss. Looting, Rioting, and Violence.

Come on guys... Grow up!

Gratuitous shot at Philly fans coming up in 3...2...1...

the philly fans just phone in death threats to the person who they feel responsible for the loss.:sad2:

And there it is! Right on schedule. :sad2:

today is the best day of the year!!! its the day i can say im leaving for wdw tomorrow!!!!!:woohoo:

:woohoo::banana::cool1: Have a great time!

Gentlemen, today is a great day. The longest, most drawn out playoffs possible are finally over and the NBA and NHL seasons are both now finally done for the next few months!:cool1::yay::woohoo:

Now ESPN can cover the good sports like baseball and the NFL courtrooms.:rotfl::lmao:

I tend to agree on the NBA...but if you can't enjoy the NHL playoffs, something's wrong with you! If only every team didn't make the playoffs, thus rendering the regular season somewhat meaningless...:rolleyes1

:lmao: your phillies are lookin good.:lmao: can we play someone with an above 500 record?:lmao: did you hear there could be a break in the nfl lock out? looks like we may see the great vic this year lead your team to another championship.:lmao:

79 days until the Horns take the field \m/

Thanks to all you Dads for the birthday wishes.

Went out to our neighborhood Applebee's for a mediocre meal. The steak was good....just everything else wasn't quite up to par.

Happy Belated Birthday! Applebee's is on my "no fly" list because I had the second-worst meal experience ever at one. Chicken caesar salad with raw chicken is neither appetizing nor a tribute to your quality control in the kitchen...:scared1:

What would you do:confused3

The soccer ticks I won last week for center field 1st row, Ive been offered face value at $50 tic ($200 total) by 2 people I know:woohoo:

Do I go to the game even though we know nothing about soccer, but have great seats and will probably have a good time, game starts at 7:30pm and is a hour away, next day we leave for VA:confused3

I'd sell the tickets, get the cash, drink the booze, have a shorter drive. Win-Win-Win-Win!

So folks, I booked my dates and hotel, so now we are definitely going to Washington DC.

We still have to plan what we are doing which days. We booked the tour of the Pentagon.

They don't let Canadians tour the White House... Grrr... We want Celine Deon and Mike Myers back now. Oh, and don't worry we will take the Stanley Cup back ourselves.

Now I need to start planning some meals, 'cause if I leave it to my kids we will be eating McD's every day.

Anyone know of any "must try" family restaurants?

Anyone other $$$ saving tips for the DC area?

I have been trying to get Celine Dion back to you for YEARS!

In terms of family restaurants in the DC area, there are plenty that will handle families just fine, but not a lot that really focus on families. I'd offer the following recommendations.

In DC proper:

1. Pizza Paradiso -- very good pizza, two locations, one in Georgetown, one in Dupont Circle. http://eatyourpizza.com

2. Austin Grill -- TexMex. Their location near us closed down a couple of years ago, which means I haven't been there in a while, but it was consistently good for years before that. The DC location is at 750 E St. NW, near the Verizon Center. http://www.austingrill.com/pennquarter.html

3. Guapos -- Another TexMex place. This one is a longstanding favorite. There is a location on Wisconsin Ave. NW right near the Tenleytown Metro Stop. http://www.guaposrestaurant.com/restaurants/washington-dc.htm

4. Tackle Box -- Seafood! It's a bit like a New England seafood shack transplanted to Georgetown. Lots of good fried seafood right along M St. in Georgetown in a very casual atmosphere.

5. Two Amy's -- More Pizza. Not too far from the National Zoo. http://www.2amyspizza.com/

6. There are a few Ethiopean restaurants in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood that could be fun if you want to try that cuisine. Lots of eating with your hands, which can be fun for kids (at least, my older daughter likes it a lot, but with all food, not just Ethiopean...). Meskerem is good http://meskeremethiopianrestaurantdc.com/. Also, Zed's, which is in Georgetown. http://www.zeds.net/

In nearby VA:

1. Ray's Hell Burger -- Well, burgers. They are at 1725 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA between the Rosslyn and Courthouse Metro stations (downhill walk from Courthouse). Consistently regarded as the best burgers around. President Obama is a big fan. Minimalist dining area. Ray's Hell Burger Too is a couple of doors down and has more of a sit-down feel to it.

2. Hard Times Café -- Several locations, the closest one would be in Arlington near the Clarendon Metro Station. Great Chili, several levels of spiciness and character. Also burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and salads. http://hardtimes.com

That's off the top of my head. I can tailor it if you want to PM me with where you're going to be staying and visiting.

:lmao: your phillies are lookin good.:lmao: can we play someone with an above 500 record?:lmao: did you hear there could be a break in the nfl lock out? looks like we may see the great vic this year lead your team to another championship.:lmao:

Dave, you're making me downright ashamed of all this winning the Phils are doing.

Well, I love basketball. It is just my opinion that the NBA is NOT basketball. As for the NHL... I've really got nothing against it. If it is on TV and there's nothing else I want to watch, I'll watch it, but I've never played hockey or really gotten into it as an avid fan of any sort and I really don't understand everything about it.:confused3

Not my team, but that's definitely a sport that will have my butt glued to the couch for hours on end.:thumbsup2

tell you what mark, i dont know how much news you get about the iron pigs in del. but man, theres not to many teams that get past them. if you ever get the chance to come to bethlehem to see them, its a fun time. i have gone twice this year and i went a couple times last year. its good to see the local area around here supporting them the way they do. you drive around in the lehigh valley and you see more iron pigs stuff than any other sport.

I don't hear much about them, but watching minor league games is definitely an underrated pleasure.

:lmao: im just bustin ya. :lmao:

Oh, I know. I make an easy target. :thumbsup2

‘Mornin’ all…
I’ve been buried at work for a bit (lord I hate month-end reporting). Looks like I missed a page or twelve. Let’s see if I can at least hit the highlights

First: a happy belated BD to Scott

Second: a belated happy anniversary to Chris

Third: “BillyBob”… You need to fry up some more bacon. A couple of pounds isn’t even enough for one meal. Besides, what is the rest of your family going to have for breakfast? Y’all enjoy the trip. I know that I’m looking forward to ours.

Rioting? Over Hockey? Of all the things that deserve to be rioted over, why waste it on a pastime?

Bad work situations seem to be more normal then good ones. Sad… Hopefully those of use dealing with this reality (and it’s probable most of us) will be able to find a little bit of brightness in each day (like… Discussing Disney perchance…)

Id’ like to believe that Karma works, but it just seems to me that awful get rewarded time and again. I’ll always try to do what’s right (and be punished for it I’m sure), but as for the notion of “what comes around, goes around”… I’ll believe it when I see it. Of course that also means it up to me to make my world better ‘cause ain’t no one gon’a to be doin’ it for me.

Oh well… Back to work (just keep thinking: “8 more day till we leave… 8 more day till we leave… 8 more day till we leave…”)

Just don't forget the Man Law about finishing a Trip Report before your next trip. Although it seems that it is more of a casual suggestion than an actual Man Law these days.:lmao:

That's a standing request every year.

DW said that they thought about it but couldn't swing it. After 15 years of marraige, I still can't tell when she's kidding or not about that stuff. :confused3

I’ve got it in the back of my mind and I’m actually trying to pull that one off (we’ll see). I’ve got the better part of the next day written I just need to edit and get the images sorted out (but I’m getting close to having it all done).

Well, regardless of whether you get it done before you leave or not, I expect a TR to be done for your cruise! :thumbsup2

Sadly I procrastinated til the offer was "Sold Out"...hopefully they will have some cancelations...or expand the offering?

Hmmmm... maybe she already knew it was sold out.... popcorn:: Played by the wife ninja... :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sorry to hear you were sick...glad you are on the mend...now get to writting.

Feel free to update the birthday links on page 1 with mine. :)

Done :thumbsup2

I can't remember for sure but weren't we discussing getting dis dad decals for our vehicles? I thought I saw a couple of examples :confused3

Ummmm :rolleyes1 Yeah... we talked about it. UNTIL the print shop I was using decided to be the WORST shop I've ever had to deal with. I will NOT be giving them a second chance. So... if someone finds a good deal on decals, have at it.
