Wow... I didn't know we were talking Scotch today... woulda stayed home from work :rotfl2:

Another opportunity to quote Dr. Cox! (He's a big fan of Scotch)

"As I lie in bed each morning and ask myself why I should put both my feet on the floor there are precious few reasons I've been able to come up with. The chance to escape Jordan's morning breath, sure. Scotch. It's too early to drink but people it is *never* to early to think about it. And of course the ever present possibility that I might finally happen upon Hugh Jackman and be able to give him the present I've been holding for him. BAM!" - Dr. Cox

I'm thinking about trading one of my trucks in for a car that gets good mileage for driving to work and just driving around. In the past, I've always been one that thinks anything smaller than a V8 is more of a wind up toy than an actual vehicle:rolleyes1. I want something with 4 doors that can get 30+. Really like the Jetta, but want to explore all options. Anybody drive anything that they really like that I might want to look at?

I'm biased - but the new 2012 Focus is reasonably priced and will get 37-38 miles per gallon highway. Yes, it's a 4 cylinder - but a 170 hp 4 cylinder!

Just realized this was my 400th post....you should feel so honored Andy!

Looks like Bubba Gumps? Should've let me know, I work just down the street.

Sorry about that! Didn't know you were in Denver!

Ian: very well put a few pages ago about the impending "end of the world" I'm always impressed at the level of thoughtful insight in this group!

Thanks for all the well wishes, guys!

Finally got around to seeing NCIS today! Excellent episode! Favorite line: "that's Secretary Jarvis when we're talking shop.". I about fell out of my chair laughing. Had to watch that scene a few times

I am indeed... congratulations and thank you.:thumbsup2

I'll probably look at the Focus... even though it doesn't come in a diesel like the Jetta and I'm not sure what will happen if this Chevy guy drives a Ford.:lmao: What do you think of the hybrid? Worthwhile or not? I'm really not in a big hurry to do something right away, just kind of kicking the idea around at this point.

Nissan altima!! http://www.altimanissansite.info/:thumbsup2 sporty but good with gas mileage!! I loved mine but I now live in the city so I no longer use a car! But if I moved back to va bch I would get the altima and The Nissan quest!

Honestly - the newer direct injection 4 cylinders like in the Focus do just as well as the Hybrid's do without the Hybrid prices.

As far as a diesel goes...do you really want the maintenance of a diesel? The oil changes are more than double what a standard gas engine is.

We've had many "chevy guys" come in and buy Ford's. Lots of GM retirees feeling betrayed buy a company who took money from the government only to see benefits slashed!

I am not a car buff, but I have a Nissan sentra and love the fact that it is still running. I'm very rough on my cars, and i've had this one for nearly 6 years, over 150k miles on it, and just had to do basic maintance, and new tires. Before this car I was going through a car every 9 months. decent on gas too. or so I say. :confused3

In Colorado all you have to do is sign the paperwork so my wife and I went to a nice restaurant with our friends and my dad and we got married. It was a lot of fun and we got free drinks. :)

Cool. We got married at our house and did keg stands at the party afterwards.

Do you want to get married again?

Ahhhhh! I am trapped on a con call that will not end.... Please send help... or Dole Whips.... or humorous comments....

my elipses have superflous periods

Conference calls are terrible. I don't know if I would ever marry again. I tell DW that it's until death, and then party time.

I have a Dodge minivan and I hate ever mile. Originally, DW wanted it, then after putting dents and scratches on doors because she can't drive, I got stuck with it. Now, the one redeeming piece is sitting off the ground. I went from truck to minivan, and not sure I could sit that low in a car.

Ah... Nissan, hadn't thought about them... :thumbsup2

Yeah, I don't really care Chevy vs. Ford. I've just always driven Chevy trucks and really like them. I owned a Dodge once... but not for very long.:lmao: I don't really care much for the Impala and Malibu... nice enough cars, but I just can't see myself owning one.:confused3 I guees just because there are so many of them around as fleet cars, they just look too common/average/boring. The Camaro only has 2 doors so I know I can't win that fight.
I just mentioned the Jetta diesel because my sister has one and likes it. I'm used to servicing diesel engines (although most of them considerably larger) so that isn't a big deal to me. I just like the durability of a diesel, but not a sticking point. Thanks for the feedback on the Fusion Hybrid. I figured that was probably the case, but figured you'd be a good one to confirm that thought for me. I'm getting ready to go play in a softball game and I might take a detour through the car lots in town on the way home to just take a quick peek.

Look for a clean - large copy. I see the smaller ones there.

I am not sure who DISigned it, but I am sure they are here.

Anyone - Large DISDAD's logo - please and thanks.

Emma's Dad posted one on one of the last few threads. If you go back and check his posts you should find it.

Just saw on the news, they are predicting a busy Hurricane season for the Atlantic, this is something I don't want to hear since our next trip to WDW is in the middle of the season:scared1:

I think this season is going to be rough! When we have a tornado in Philadelphia, it's not going to be good! It was a EF 0 but that is really unusual!
I say get ready!! It's gonna be a tough one!

The sticker on the V6 mustang said 31 hwy. I average 16.5 (onboard computer) for 5 miles to work, 5 miles home from work. So, I only fill up every 20 days. On the highway, the computer said i got 27 mpg (at 73 mph cruise control for 2 hrs).
Little cars with good gas mileage & power to boot:
Civic Si? $22,000 msrp, 30-32 mpg hwy, and 200 hp (top speed right at 120 I think?)

Mazda3? That's got oomph, room, and over 30 mpg's (though the rumors are they crap out at 70,000 miles)

I had my 2000 ford focus for 10 years, 6 months and 96,000 miles. So I can't talk badly about the focus.

But, I do love car talk, and car research! So keep asking questions!
