Happy Friday all!

Happy Friday to you too.

My sweet wife returned home from California very late Wednesday night (really Thursday morning) and then I was off yesterday to a customer meeting in central Ohio, but back home again before the kids went to bed.

Oh and my personal email was hacked on Sunday night... claiming I was in London, mugged, stranded... blah blah blah... same scam I've seen so many times before. Idiot hackers... so add that fun to my list of "no time" too. Oh well... "life's a beach" as my aunt says... you just have to roll with the tide sometimes.

Have a great day guys!

Have fun at camp Stopher. Been keeping your family in my prayers. I guess having your email hacked is better than being actually mugged and stranded in a foreign country.

So DW and I got our airfare booked for DL in December. We are still trying to figure out if we are doing 3 or 4 days in the parks out there. In order to get DW to agree to the trip I had to agree that I would actually pay for a Disney Hotel at least one night.

AWESOME!!! Congrats! I dream of going to Disneyland sometime. I'm kind of like your DW, I understand that it really probably is more cost effective and in many cases, just as convenient to stay in an offsite hotel, but there's just something about the fact that I'm used to being on property at WDW that would make it very hard to not stay in a Disney hotel there too.

Nice! I haven't ventured out to DL yet, but def. plan to do it one of these years. Will be interested to hear how your trip goes!

I think my problem is that its a slippery slope.
Its starts out with me showing that we can go to California for a week and only have to pay for park tickets and food. (hurray cheap vacation).
Then we have the discussion that since we're gonna be at disneyland and we likely won't get back soon we should probably stay at one of the disneyland hotels at least for a night. Besides we can stay at the paradise pier hotel for cheap.
Then we decided that since its only going to be one night it doesn't make that big of a difference in price so we should stay at the Grand Californian.
A couple weeks will go by and we'll think about how much of a pain it is to change rooms so we'll just extend our Grand Californian stay till the entire time we're at DL.
At this point I'll be scratching my head about how our "free" trip is costing so much money.

Yeah, that does sound like a pretty dangerous situation. :lmao::rotfl2:

On another note, I'd made a post on here a few days ago about how my mom was starting to seriously look into getting a family trip together sometime next year. I talked to her last night and she was excited to tell me that she wants to stay at the new Animation resort. I kind of wanted to test her to see how much research she'd been doing, so I said that would be nice, but I don't know if it will all be open by then (she's talking about early Dec). She told me that they are already taking reservations for next summer. She passed that test with flying colors. My next thought was that since my family is just me, DW and DS and we really would like to have our own space on vacation I made the comment to her that those rooms are family suites. We will be traveling with a group of 8 and would need multiple rooms anyway (and I'm sure my Sis and BIL will want a room of their own as well) so I asked if she really thought it would be cost effective to get 2 or 3 suites. She then told me that the Little Mermaid building was just going to be regular rooms and not suites. I don't know if this is a true statement or not, but either way, I'm impressed that she's really working on doing some research. I'd be kind of interested in seeing the new resort, but I really enjoy staying at POP. I guess if we're doing value, I'd like to go back there, but it is her trip and she will likely be paying for most of it, so I'll be more than happy to stay wherever she wants. I think the ball is definitely rolling on the possibility of me actually being able to see Disney at Christmas time not just once, but 2 years in a row!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

It's true, but the Little Mermaid building is scheduled to be one of the last completed. It can't be booked yet, because bookings in general at WDW are only open through mid-October at this point (599 days in advance, IIRC). Even if it's the last one done though, it should open for booking at some point in December. It looks like they're rolling them online one per month, starting in September 2012.

I think I've lived this same scenario, with other trips in my household... :rotfl:

That's awesome. Disney at Christmas is great. Parks and Resorts are all awesome.

I got a really weird message from Christopher.

I am not sure if it came via the DISboards, or Facebook, but it was definitley one of them, as it came from his e-mail address, to my e-mail address (and I have never given it out). I have PM'ed him a few times, but that's about the extent of it.

Anyways here's the message cut and pasted - not edited at all:

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,my family and I came down here to London,England for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all cash, credit card and cellphones were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in few hrs from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills.please your urgent help is required.

Chris.

I thought that was extremely odd, as why would he reach out to ME? And I know (as we all know) he is in California now tending to his family in their time of loss. So I got a bit suspicious.

I Googled the first line, and sure enough found that it is a bogus message.

Has anyone else seen this?
I wonder if he has a virus or worm scouring his contacts and sending out false alerts.
I got the same thing from him. Turns out that it's a pretty common issue in that part of the world as another friends of ours sent us the exact same email (how's about that?) one week prior. lol
On a Cool note for the day:woohoo: Paid off WDW trip through AAA, got some of the perks before I left (child's WDW luggage worth 139.99, wheels light up, I wouldn't pay that much for it but I'll take it for free:goodvibes) when I check in there should be a $25 GC for us plus the booklet with AAA storytime & AAA Diamond parking pass:yay:

Figure if I'm going to pay the same price as I would if I booked through Disney, I might as well get everything I can:lmao: AAA matches everything WDW does (got the kids play, eat & stay for free deal) plus all the extras, but with a AAA store less then 2 miles away for me it would be foolish to book directly:confused3
When we were at AAA getting our van of doom repaired (beverly check engine light is STILL on!) we looked at the Disney luggage as well. 'cept that they didn't offer to give us free luggage if we booked through them. Meh - too bad for them. I'd still like some new luggage though.
My sweet wife returned home from California very late Wednesday night (really Thursday morning) and then I was off yesterday to a customer meeting in central Ohio, but back home again before the kids went to bed.

I feel fear growing and my lack of Disney knowledge is driving a stabbing pain in my heart! LINKS! I DEMAND LINKS! How could I not know about this? BAH!

Nevermind - I'm all read up on it. :) Given our previous stay at a value resort (and our desire to not stay there again when CSR is so close and undeniably awesome) I'm not sure that we'd go. We might stop by and mill around, mind you, but I don't think we'll stay there.

I second that!

Aaron posted something about that information a few days ago. I don't remember when and don't have time to go back and look right now, but it is here in the fastest moving thread on the boards somewhere. :lmao:

Well, I don't know how to break this news to everyone - so I will just come out and say it:

I actually added another chapter to my trip report! Almost finished!

And now for a shameless link, because the link in my signature is not overkill enough: WooHoo, I actually updated this TR!

Maybe I will actually finish this thing one of these days...

:rotfl:

I just had an interesting experience at lunch. I was in the drive thru line at Subway. They have 1 window where you pay and a second window to pick up the food. I was at the second window waiting on my sandwich when all of a sudden my truck rocks forward then it rocks forward again. I look in the mirror and a guy just pulled up to pay. Apparently he took exception to the fact that my truck was long enough that he had to reach forward a little bit to hand them his money so he was trying to push me out of his way. :confused3 Actually I'm not sure he even knew why he stopped. I never once saw him look forward, he just kept trying to creep forward, rocking my truck with every attempt. One of the many reasons I'm glad I have a cushion hitch on the back of my truck. That's the second time someone has ran into the back of me and I've escaped without so much as a scratch. I just have to scrape a little bit of paint of my hitch. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Well shoot, I guess I could wire some money while I'm at it....you see this Prince of Kilamangojuto just contacted me and since I'm wiring him some money I might as well help out?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Haven't made it to the board in awhile, silly work, silly silly work getting in my way.

Seriously? This guy must not have had all his wits about him! Glad no harm was done to your truck...

Reminds me, on Tuesday I was at a restaurant for lunch, with a window table that was about 10 feet away from where I had parked my car on the street. All of a sudden, we see my car move a bit... A guy trying to parallel park hit it... I go outside to see if there's any damage (there wasn't, he hit my license plate frame, and very lightly), and ask the person stepping out of the car if he was aware that he hit my vehicle. He insisted that he didn't. Normally I would think he was full of it, but it turns out that he was about 90 years old. So I smiled and said, no harm no foul, have a nice day... Just glad I got out of it without a scratch as well!

The office is empty now but me so I guess it is time to lock up and call it a week. Have a good evening all.
