I've always been curious about the FreeMasons, but could never really find any info on what it is all about:confused3 There is a Lodge in the next town

You really wont find out a lot of information. You have to ask someone who is a member in order to become one.

I got a really weird message from Christopher.

I am not sure if it came via the DISboards, or Facebook, but it was definitley one of them, as it came from his e-mail address, to my e-mail address (and I have never given it out). I have PM'ed him a few times, but that's about the extent of it.

Anyways here's the message cut and pasted - not edited at all:

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,my family and I came down here to London,England for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all cash, credit card and cellphones were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in few hrs from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills.please your urgent help is required.

Chris.

I thought that was extremely odd, as why would he reach out to ME? And I know (as we all know) he is in California now tending to his family in their time of loss. So I got a bit suspicious.

I Googled the first line, and sure enough found that it is a bogus message.

http://www.snopes.com/fraud/distress/family.asp

Has anyone else seen this?
I wonder if he has a virus or worm scouring his contacts and sending out false alerts.

I noticed something as I read this message that you received. He signed it Chris, and he doesn't like to go by just Chris. So, that would be a give away that he himself did not send it. Not that we ever suspected he actually sent it in the first place, but it shows that even though a lot of us have never met we know each other better than we think LOL

Tiki - Wow, that some likes some really Beverly peanut butter going on at that LCBO. You gotta just tough it out, chin up, show up for your shifts, do your job, and allow the others around you to fail. You sound like you are quite passionate about your job, and I am sure that doesn't go unnoticed. Keep your chin up.

Aaaaannnnnd....the latest from today....

Me and another co-worker (the one in charge)set up the whole day, and I set up the cashiers personally, putting Queen Beverly on a backup cash (Cashes number 6 to 1, 6 being main, then down the line). She took this as an insult, and let the rest of us know she will do nothing but sit up there. And she was frosty to me big time. But around noon, she suddenly helped out and was friendly. What a psycho. SHe then slacked off the rest of the day, annoying all, especially after it got really busy. Too bad, we were really rolling well today, I even got a fresh supply of Rolling Rock! We didi okay till it got busy, but we'll just finish it off tomorrow. It was still a pretty good day.

Rant Time

As for Vancouver, I have to say I am VERY DISSAPOINTED.

Don't get me wrong, I am not dissapointed at the Vancouver Canucks, their orginaization, or any one player (Like Luongo :lmao:).

But I am very dissapointed in the City of Vancouver's reaction after the Stanley Cup loss. Looting, Rioting, and Violence.

Come on guys... Grow up!

Must have transported all the idiots from the G20 last year. I am proud of the Bruins....mainly because I won money

Gentlemen, today is a great day. The longest, most drawn out playoffs possible are finally over and the NBA and NHL seasons are both now finally done for the next few months!:cool1::yay::woohoo:

Now ESPN can cover the good sports like baseball and the NFL courtrooms.:rotfl::lmao:

Umm...there is still the NHL draft, free agency starts July 1st, etc etc etc....

the philly fans just phone in death threats to the person who they feel responsible for the loss.:sad2:
its just a game. there will be more of them next season. no need to destroy a city.

Was it sad I sat there hoping to see some police action? I want billy clubs flying....I so want to see those punks get their commpance (?) It reminded me of all those Simpsons eps when Homer is watching somehting on tv, waving a pennant for related thing...only my pennant read :Exessive Violence

Hellooooo everyone. I'm relatively new around here and thought I would join the party, if you'll have me. I've been lurking on the forums for a while now and thought I would step up and say hey.

We are planning our first family trip Dec 4-11 and we are very much looking forward to it. Both the wife and I have been to WDW a handful of times each but this will be the first for my sons.

I've come to the conclusion that there just isn't time enough in the day to keep up with every thread on the various boards. There are a TON of people here with some seriously substantial experience at all things Disney. It's become my go to source of up-to-date information as well as some laughs.

So with that said, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintances and I look forward to sharing and learning over these coming days and weeks.

I seem to most always just miss other DisDads...that happened last December too! I missed Ron and Christopher and had bad timing with
Tim and Randall there..sotry of my life!:sad2:

I saw the greatest man invention ever made at the liquor store today:confused3

It was a bag of shots in little plastic packs like condiments come in :cool1:I saw vodka and rum:cool1: Next trip just got a whole lot cheaper, just add coke:lmao::goodvibes

And we made it earlier then intended....we wanted the 10 days, but the flight home (well, Flint MI), gets in late, and it's an hour or so drive from there to Sarnia where my in-laws live, where we stay the night. DW can't take time that last week in August, so we bumped it up. Next year, we'll be in earlier August.

To be honest, I noticed that as well. I knew it wasn't legit...just thought I'd share this in case anyone else did get it.

But I did send him $1800... :rotfl2:

There was a story about this phenomenon on NPR this am (marketplace tech, I think). The concept on Internet friendships, not email scams.

Anyway, they were quoting studies talking about how on-line friendships (via social network sites like thus one or FB) can create stronger relationships and friendships than you might expect. So despite "convententional wisdom" & concern that the on-line world hurts social interaction, people actually seem to open up more & build stronger relationships than they would in the "real world". Personally, I still think we need both & I really enjoy meeting you guys, but it reinforced my belief that these relationships are important & valuable.

Good Night guys!

Steve...just make sure to ask for a little more than you need to compensate for that Canadian exchange rate! :lmao:

Last time I looked it was less then 2 cent difference on the dollar, I remember when it was more like 40 cents:confused3 What happened

Not to nitpick, but the exchange rate is actually inverted right now (C$ > US$)

TwoKids, I need money to get me home to WDW.... :rotfl2:

Ok so it's been about 10 years since I've been to that casino in Windsor!

I actually was thinking that I might be wrong when I was posting that. I should've known that we would be almost even up now since the economy has slid.

I'm going to need to setup a savings fund for you guys.

Or just win the Lottery.

Here's my promise - if (when) I win the lottery (must be greater then $2,000,000) - I will buy a DISdad (through a careful selection process) a DVC membership.

Oh, and our lotteries, here in Canada - are 100% tax free.

Thats interesting. I agree with the need for personal "real world" interaction too, but the point is a real good one.
