I know I'm late to the party but I would love to join the club. We leave for the Wilderness Lodge in 8 Days! I have done all the planning and arrangements myself:banana: Martha Stewart herself would be proud of my planning binder.pirate:
Well not sure how I missed this area but glad to have found it!
Disney Dad of 3 here looking forward to spending even more time on the DIS

Welcome to the nut house.

Morning Guys.

It's been a crazy few days. My DW left for CA on Monday to spend time with her dad. This morning I got word from CA that my grandmother is out of her suffering, and has left us. I'm waiting on word now regarding funeral arrangements. Thank you so much for the prayers over the past few months. I appreciate them and you.

I don't have the time to go back and check out what's been missed - so if you have had good things, I rejoice with you, if you have had bad things, I'm sad with you, if you need prayer, gladly, if you've just been shootin the breeze like most of the time - consider yourself breezed with some of my own mindless drivel for the day... if a dog farts in the woods, and the fish aren't biting, and your campfire won't light, but the Dole Whips - while ever tasty and good - missing from your day, it must be related to the fact that the sun came up in the west, and trennr is bored at work once again.

Cheers. Off to call my dad and see what he'll have to say about the plans for my grandmother's service.

Really sorry to hear about this, Stopher. Condolences to you and your family.

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

One of the best and most underappreciated movie lines ever.

im all checked in at the contemp.!!! i got dd graduation tonight and dance recitals this weekend and 4 days of work than im out of here!!!!:woohoo:

:thumbsup2 <------- Thumb

:lmao: you may want to bring your sun tan lotion if your gonna wait on i70. your gonna be there awhile! im going 78-81-77-26-95-4.:lmao: if any dad wants to stand on the side of those interstates with a big sign, ill stop and pick you up!!!! we have a wide range of food in the back!!! bugals, cheese balls, oreos (never leave home without them!:lmao:) 5 dif. types of chips, black, red and choc. lic. cheezits, slim jims (never leave home without them) and theres mores, thats just what i put in the snack box!:lmao: drinks are coke(its the real thing), girls coke zero (why bother) water and turkey hill iced tea!!!! i tend to eat healthy!!!!:lmao:

We'll be close to each other when you get on the bolded interstates. You going 77 down through Charlotte and hitting 26 down around Columbia??

Depends on about when you expect to be crossing the NC/SC boarder along I-77. If it’s in the middle of the night, just pond out the melody to IASW on you car-horn as you pass by exit-85 a couple of miles into SC (I’ll certainly hear you).

And also remember to do the same in St Marys GA just before the FL boarder (I know Fed will hunt me down for that one, but I couldn’t resist :rolleyes1).

I'll do that in July when we head down to Cherry Grove. Actually, we usually stop at a Waffle House just inside of SC for what has become our traditional "beach breakfast." We eat at a WH once a year, and it is always on the Saturday that we go to the beach. I'm not gonna blow the horn at St. Mary's; fed was kind enough to help us out with some hotel info for the night of the 17th, so I'll leave the "disturbing the peace" up to you.

In honor of my 2000th post, I drank a beer and farted. :drinking1

Dang, so that's what that smell is. The paint's falling off my walls. :lmao:

Major league busy week. Didn't even turn on the home computer yesterday. Academic awards ceremonies for both kids last night, promotion ceremony at my school tomorrow night followed by a peanut butter, Beverly dance for the promotees until about 10. However, all is well at 11:00 on Friday when the bell rings. Just trying to get to 11 and be done with it for the year. We also go to 10 hour days next week, and all the schools are closed on Thursday (it was a planned closure), so on Thursday, we're gonna pack, swim in a swim meet, and get things ready to head out to WDW early on Friday morning.

Also, still being patient on the classic soccer tryouts. DW and my neighbor's DW spoke with the coach last Thursday and he sounded pretty positive AND that we would probably know something by the start of the weekend. Well, the weekend has come and gone and we still don't know anything. So, if I don't hear anything by tomorrow around lunch, I'm gonna call and find out what's going on. They are really putting us in limbo by not letting us know because our local challenge team is holding a spot for us if we don't make the classic level. :headache:

Stopher1: Our condolences go to you and your family. Be comforted to know her suffering is done.

My condolences and prayers for you and your family.

Stopher, Sorry to hear about your Grandmother, prayers going out to you and your family, and keeping FIL in prayers

Gee I hope I didn't miss anyone... but a heartfelt thanks to one and all. It has been a trying few months to say the least, and with my FIL's situation continuing downward, it's not getting any better either. BUT I take comfort in knowing that one is much better off now. It's been a really melancholy kind of day. And I'm sure the next few will be more of the same. I lost my grandpa (her husband) at 8. I lost my other grandpa (mom's dad) at 9. I lost my other grandma (mom's mom) at 21 (just barely - only a few hours into the day after my birthday), and now this grandma at 40. I'm just very thankful and blessed to have been able to spend as many years with each of them as I did. Not everyone is so fortunate - my own kids included. Both sets lived very close to us as I was growing up. One set was a little over a mile away, and the other set was about an hour to an hour and a half away. We saw them all A LOT. Every trip out to CA since we first moved to Michigan 13 years ago included a visit to my grandma. This next trip out there will of course be for a celebration of her life, and then the next work one in October will be missing that component. It'll be strange...

Thanks again for all of the prayers, notes and phone calls (yes, I did get some of those as well). It's been a blessing. I'll be back around soon to join back in the fun, hopefully as things slow down a little bit. :grouphug:

One of them lawyers would write one of those silly warnings, and get out of liability. Something like - don't use this product while sleeping. Ever seen the lawyer warning on a bag of peanuts? Caution: This product may contain peanuts.

That's good stuff... I will now check every bag of peanuts that I buy for that warning...:rotfl:

Best of luck as you deal with all of this. It's never an easy thing to deal with, but you are clearly handling it well, which must be a blessing for your family.

On a lighter note, good win by the Bruins. No one in New England thought we had a chance to get here, never mind make it a 3 game series. It's been a fun ride... Let's hope they can take 2 more!

BigTex... Pulling for the MAVS! Dirk deserves 1!!!!! Lets do this!!!!

On my last Gift Auction win, I know nothing about soccer who's the better team NY Red Bulls or the DC United:confused3 with center field seats it should be exciting:goodvibes

Hey there guys.

Stopher1: Our condolences go to you and your family. Be comforted to know her suffering is done.

So I had the opportunity to meetup with one of our own today for lunch at the Berghoff in Chicago. A great classic German restaurant which still holds liquor license #1 issued after prohibition ended.

As we've always said, pics or it didn't happen so here we are...

Middlepat there is a chance I will be in Chicago for a few days next week. If I head your way I would like to meetup if possible.

I missed all of thread 9 and it is unreal how our little club has grown. I hope you all are doing well.

It's GREAT to see so many Dads meeting up in places other than WDW, goes to show we are more than a bunch of guys on a thread, we are Friends:goodvibes

stopher ~ You and your family have my condolences. My MIL is 92 and staying with us for a week and she has gotten quite a bit weaker over the past several months. We don't know how much longer we will have her.

Right off the top of my head, I don't know who has the better record. But, you are in for a treat. The skill level of these guys is absolutely amazing. DC has the kid from the US national team that was almost killed in a wreck a couple of years ago (Charlie Davies) and I think that the former French national player Thierry Henry plays for Chicago (IIRC).
