Going car "shopping" tomorrow. Looking at our friends who own a Ford dealer. I dont think they have anything that seats 7 smaller then the "Bus" (Excursion). Need something with MPG not GPM. Any suggestions. We are in a Saturn Relay 3 right now. Love my Saturn but its time to move on since they did. Sad!

<------- works at a Ford Store. They don't make an Excursion anymore...best bet would be a Flex or an Explorer for 7 passenger.

We own a Flex and love it. Getting 21/mpg or so with mixed city/highway driving. I drove it back from Nashville and got 26 on the highway.

Just get a Ranger. Make the kids ride in back. You can easily get 8 or 10 of them back there, plus all your stuff.
When I was in HS, we loaded 8 or 10 people in the back of a Ranger that used to have the plastic mold mudflap things behind the rear wheels before they got rubbed off on the ground. They just don't put big springs under those things for some reason.:confused3

Have a great trip!

I don't know how bad those storms are, but we hit a doozy of one driving down one time. Wipers on high and it still couldn't keep up. Creeping along at 20mph or so. Luckily it passed pretty quickly and I was able to open up the throttle on the minivan and make up for lost time. :woohoo:

Already applied the ol' Rain-X to the windshield! We've made this trip for the past 6 or 7 years now and have hit all kinds of weather. Just hope it's not raining the whole ride down.

Nothing like rain at night....I hate it!

Scott, Have a safe trip tonight!!!:thumbsup2:cool1:

I didn't get the chance to recommend sunflowers seeds in the shell. I travel a ton in the car for work and that works great for me. :woohoo:

NO OWNAGE ALLOWED PER STOPHER

Thanks! Sunflower seeds....noted!

Morning all…
That unrelenting work situation has kept me off the boards for a bit, but I’ll catch back up later on. Might as well start with what’s happening today though.

Checking in!

Made it to the airport! Our flight's not until 10am, but the kids were all up before 6am, bouncing through the halls. Had to do the final pack with each of them (backpacks, bed stuff/blankies/etc, toothbrushes) before I could shower. Left the house at 7:15, at the airport by 8am. Based on previous years, we wanted to give us 2 hours.

But there is no one here! The shuttle was empty, no line at the counter, no line at security, no line at McDonalds for breakfast. I think we did the whole check-in thing in 10 minutes, max.

Settled in at the gate now. Kids broke out their DS's & DW & I having coffee. Stop-over at BWI, then onto MCO!

Have a good day, guys!

Excellent start to the adventure! Y’all have a great trip.

Mornin' Dads....

One more day of work to get through!!! :cool1:

Not looking forward to the 17 hour drive through the night tonight with the storms rolling over I-77.

You’ll make it. Just remember the destination and every thing else just fades away.
If your still on I-77 just as you cross over the NC/SC state line, remember to give me a blast on the car-horn as you go by Exit-85. As close as I live to there, I’ll probably hear you from the house. (or you could stop for coffee… I’ll buy…)

Y’all have a great trip.

I think we need to make Josh an honorary member... anyone want to second this motion?

I certainly will!

Is it minivan time? My DW's Honda Odyssey does pretty well for something that will carry the starting lineup for a girl's softball team. It has a V6, but has an Eco mode where it turns off 3 cylinders and does assorted fuel delivery wizardry to help at highway speeds.

Awesome. I propose that this be required for all DisDads trips in the future, to go along with the whole not-getting-sick rule.

Unfortunately - rumor has it that the Ranger is being discontinued! Come and get em' while you still can!

I had a Ranger once....it's a great little truck!

Thanks Rob - About that time in our drive we're usually experiencing the classic head droop from lack of sleep!

I don't think you want us stopping for coffee at 3am! :thumbsup2

I'll be sure to blare the horn loudly and possibly to the beat of IASW! :rotfl2:

Drove a Police Packaged (aftermarket) 5.0 Mustang Yesterday for "trials":rolleyes1

The Flex?

Welcome, Sandy! Yep, I remember those days. I used dial-up to connect to a bulletin board in a town a few miles south of here. All you could do was leave messages for others to read. There was some science fiction talk about being able to connect all over the world one day and libraries going out of business because all of the books, etc., would be available on a computer. Strange!
over sleep this morning mike?:lmao:
Morning fellers!!!

Another successful week of accomplishing nothing...and getting paid for it. :thumbsup2
working on a government contract nate?:lmao:

ill be heading down i-77 myself in just 62 more days!:thumbsup2 have a safe trip scott!!:thumbsup2

Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

I love Office Space! :happytv:

I have a Black on Black 5.0 GT in my showroom I can sell ya! :cool1:

They are quite Bad a**!

Color is right! Need a 6 speed and a decent price:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I really did looove that car....by far the best handling Mustang I've ever driven..

I've had 3 Mustangs--a 68, 91 GT and 94 GT. Also drove a 93 Notchback as a cop...

The 94 GT was a full on modified race car---it would fly (and it's a good thing I was a cop or I **might** still not have a license:lmao:) but, alas, DW was in Grad School and needed a "good little car" to travel...

So the 94 went...away:sad1::sad1:

I still say she owes me a hot rod...and I'm working on it (especially after Daytona last weekend)...

However, she points out that I have a boat:rolleyes:

I once had 13 people in my '84 two door Chevy Blazer. I was perfectly comfortable in the driver's seat. Everyone else thought it was a bit tight.

Already applied the ol' Rain-X to the windshield! We've made this trip for the past 6 or 7 years now and have hit all kinds of weather. Just hope it's not raining the whole ride down.
Rain-X is amazing. First time I used it was our first drive to Disney. It was awesome watching the rain hit, bead up, and slide off. It's Magic!

On a related note - you know who I hate? Those punks that drive around in dark blue Crown Vics with tinted windows and a spot light above the mirror. Are they pretending to be cops just for fun?

I love Office Space! :happytv:
That was an Office Space quote? :confused3 I was just describing my work week. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Why don't you bite the bullet and order the new Boss 302 with the Laguna Package - then you'll be set!

I'll even cut you a deal - only $5,000 over sticker! ;) :rotfl2:

However, she points out that I have a boat:rolleyes:

I was watching an old episode of Pawn Stars recently that made me think of you... Hoss bought a boat and Rick told him a boat is nothing but a hole in the water that you throw money into. :lmao::rotfl2:

I've got a BIL that has a boat though, and he needed a place to store it for the winter. I told him he could keep it in my barn if he'll take me boating. That's the cheapest way to invest in a boat as far as I'm concerned. :thumbsup2
