I wanted...

Edited: 8:34am - Was going to try for full page ownage and Rental messed it up only two posts in. - OWNAGE!

1) Good morning!
2) Finally got to sleep
3) I need to stop posting when I'm tired.

So, how's it going for everyone today?

Dang you Rental - I was gonna take the challenge for full page ownage, but you messed it up after just two posts. Nemisis status?

So, today was a most interesting day. I got to school around 7 and began to unlock all of the doors. My mother calls me around 7:05 (she comes up and stays with my son and takes him to school since DW works nights) and says, "I have a problem. Your oven just shot flames out of the front, and now the top element is burning." :scared1: So, I told her that I was headed home right then to check on things (I'm only 10 minutes away from home). I got about half way there and called her, and she said "it's still burning, do I need to call 911??" I told her to go ahead and I would be there shortly. When I got home, I could hear the fire whistle screaming and within 2 minutes a truck pulled up to our house. Before the truck got there, I went in and looked, and the top element was burning like a sparkler; really bright around the element and it was shooting sparks off in all different directions. Not a consistent flame, but still not a comfortable sight either. I went and turned off the breaker to the oven and it immediately stopped burning. That is when the fire department walked through the door. I hated to call about something that small, but if it had gotten back into our walls I would probably be typing this from a hotel tonight. Luckily, when you live in a small town, you know about everyone, and one of the two volunteers that got there almost immediately has kids at my school, and he reassured us that calling even for something as small as this was the right thing to do because it had the potential to do much more damage than just to the element. No smoke damage at all to anything but the element, but just enough excitement to scare the bejeebus out of you really quick :scared1: First time that I've ever been involved with something like this, and if it's okay with ya'll, I'd like to make it my last as well.

Other than that, it was a great day :lmao:
Definitely did the right thing by calling the FD. Last August our satellite dish got hit by lightning. We never heard a lightning strike, but in the attic, the surge jumped from the coax cable to an electric line and caused a fuse to blow. The rest of the house was fine and I couldn't find any problems, so I was getting ready to put a new fuse in. We could smell something hot though, so I decided I'd better investigate instead. I couldn't find anything myself, but it smelled bad up in the attic so we called the FD. They came and used their IR cameras and it didn't take them long to find the source of the problem. Turned out there was even some insulation in the attic smoldering that I never would have found. They ended up hauling buckets of insulation down from the attic and dumping it out the window.

Anyway, sorry about your morning, but it is always the right decision to call the FD when you're in doubt. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hey again guys...Jacob and Allison were both to have surgery today. Jacob had his jaw fixed and is doing well. Allison's surgery was canceled due to increased WBC count. This evening she became septic and has been moved back to the PICU. Please keep praying for these kids. Allison asked Dale (mom) today if she was going to die.
Poor girl... that's so sad. Keeping them in our prayers.

I dont know how I missed this one. DO NOT EVER HESITATE TO CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!!!!! Sorry for the caps, but I feel very strongly about this. Maybe it is the third generation FF in me. I have seen many situations like this turn VERY BAD. My neighbors had a CO detector going all day apparently. The attached house never called it in. The lady left to get her kids at the buys and when she came home, the dog was laying dead in front of the door. It had spread throughout her house. I can go on for days with stories of people not calling. Again, please do not ever hesitate to call if you feel unsafe. It's what we are there for.

Ok guys Its time our next photo blitz will be tonight between 7 and 930 eastern time on Face Book. dont say you are not ready for one on such a short notice.Cause a Dis Dad is always ready to adapt to anything thrown his way.:thumbsup2 Tonights photo opt should be of you and at least one of your children together. It can be taken any where doing anything( but this time of year sports pics always win over the judge LOL).Remember big smiles:):):)

HAHA - Very funny, although not true in our case. We are the only 100% dry fire house in our county. Our bar was shut down in the mid 80's and we are very proud of not having one anymore!

You gotta jump on that @ O'Dark 30, then you'd have it for sure!

RE: that picture, I'm going to have my conersation with the guy tonight and if he's not into buying it I'll DDC it up. Replace NSEW with images of park logos (castle, ball, etc), then resort name acronyms. DISDad's Club on top, then the slogan underneath

Oh, and it looks FABULOUS as a background. lol

Bummer - I'll be in a Scout leadership meeting from 7 - 9, then followed by a last minute meeting with the Adult leaders going on Spring Camporee this weekend. Not sure I'll be able to make this one happen Carl.

Thanks for the update, Steve. Very normal response for Allison. In her developmental stage, she may also have been worried about Dale dying.

I actually found a couple of pictures from the Cub Scouting days This was a good while back so that little boy in now just shy of 16, but you get the idea.

The one on the right was taken aboard the USS Clamagore down at Patriots Point.

Impressive tee-pee! :thumbsup2

Free Waterfall Junior: "You can't own property, man."
Farnsworth: "I can. But that's because I'm not a penniless hippie."

Love Futurama! :rotfl2:
