Just wrapping up family dinner and a movie night. Ribeyes and portobellos grillied on the BigGreenEgg, asparagus, steak fries and french bread for dinner. Then strawberry poundcake for dessert. Finished off with the "Muppets From Space" movie.

I'm jealous!!! I am saving up my pennies so that some day I can get a Big Green Egg!!! The best grill going :cool1::thumbsup2:cool1:

Also jealous. I have to replace my gas grill and may bite the bullet and buy an Egg. DisDr., if you got a minute can you give the good, bad and ugly of grilling on one? Can you also use it as a smoker?

Camera Update: I bought the CANON SX30is - and when I say bought, for those of you following my camera shopping experience, I didn't actually buy it, but got it free from AIRMILES.

Now just waiting eagerly for delivery. :cool1:

I downloaded the pdf manual to familiarize myself with it. :cool1:

Just watching the BBC Blu-Ray of LIFE - I can't stomach it. The scenery is spectacular, but all it is about is animals hunting and eating other animals. Maybe I'm just a sissy.... *wonders if I should be in the DisMOM's club*... :lmao:

Do I have to turn in my card? :(

I'm in the jealous camp too. Everyone I know that has an egg loves it, but when the time came to buy one I cheaped out and bought a weber instead.

Josh will work on getting everyones levels as one. It will sound like an angelic choir when he is done with the next podcast!

Whats your thoughts on the Mickey Mouse Club done with Kazoos? :scared1:
I like the current intro, thanks. :thanks:
You probably know this already, Aaron, but I can't yet get the 2nd podcast on itunes. I can listen on disdads just fine, however (although I haven't had the chance!). And I finally was able to leave a review on the 1st one, bringing us up to three 5-star reviews!

Yeah, I'm not sure what's causing the delay there. I didn't notice at first that my iTunes is pulling the podcast directly from the disdads.com feed, rather than via the iTunes listing. If it doesn't show up in iTunes by tomorrow morning, I'll follow-up some more.

But don't worry about episode-by-episode reviews. iTunes reviews are for the podcast overall. They aren't separated out by episode.

Don't forget, see if the boys can score some Disney Transportation Cards, they will have some fun trying to get them:woohoo:

Thanks for posting that again. Just made a note to try and do that with DS this trip

:rotfl2::thumbsup2.Maybe I'll wait for the iPhone 5!
People are thinking its less than 3 months away from being announced. You could wait, but by then everyone will be waiting for the iphone 6.

Congratulations on the camera? Do you se your united miles directly through them or do you use points.com or some other trading tool?

For the man card, I think it depends what types of animals are eating each other. If it involves a lamprey, I don't think so. Those things have always freaked me out. :scared1: Of course lampreys don't eat other animals so much as they suck the life out of them. In high school I was the party lamprey.

How much do these Biggreeneggs cost:scared1::confused3

I the large egg is about $700 and the extra large one is about $1k. Most of the people who have them that I know also have a couple hundred dollars in accessories. (They make computer controls with fans to regulate the temperature inside the egg)

Wow Does Chef Ramsey come with it:lmao: Does it burn charcoal or gas:confused3

That's about what you get with a typical breakfast order at Tony's, a restaurant north of Flint, MI! Anyone else ever been there? :woohoo:

Tony's in Birch Run, MI.
Home of the TWENTY SLICE BACON sandwich.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

How could anyone look at that sandwich and not smile? It probably comes out of the kitchen with a ray of sunshine (and modern medicine's dissaproval) beaming down on it.

Now as for the NCAA… Buttler over Pitt? Really? I didn’t have them in the Final-4, but come on… Today’s games are taking a little bit of a loll on my Sweet sixteen. :sad2:

Pitt has destroyed my brackets completely :scared1:, and the women from the Hawkeye State (both teams :sad1:) have ruined those picks. Loyalty is a terrible thing in March. I'm accustomed to suffering though, I'm a Bills fan as well :headache:.

Episode 2 of the podcast - Podcasts, MANLAW, 10 Questions and MK Snacks is up on iTunes.

Thanks again to prattpak, BigTex71, and DEA for participating. And special thanks to our new podcast engineer (and BiL of prattpak) Josh Haas. I LOVE the new opening music he recorded for us!

You can listen on the disdads.com website, or subscribe to the podcast in iTunes via this link: http://is.gd/hxFMLn

If you subscribe on iTunes, and can take a minute to post a review, we'd really appreciate it!
Listening to the new podcast now. Really like the background music, the intro and the choice use of the word Meta-fashion

OK I'll give it a go...

Big Green Egg.

It is a japanese kamado style charcoal grill/smoker. They come in multiple sizes from S (9") to XL (24") diameter grills. They are charcoal grills, hardwood charcoal is recommended as it burns clean and hot, and produces little ash.

They are very simple to operate. There is an air intake vent at the bottom of the grill and an air outlet vent at the top. By adjusting these vents, you can very precisely control the temperature of the egg. Wide open vents = HIGH, almost closed vents = LOW.
Temperatures range from 200 degrees F to >800 degrees F.

I have had my egg for about 4 years now and really enjoy it. We use it probably once or twice a week. I have the large size (18") and it works well for us.
To get it going... you light your charcoal (no lighter fluid... the ceramic can absorb odors/flavors and nobody likes the taste of lighter fluid) and let it burn until to coals are hot. Then adjust your vent settings to reach your desired temp. It will stay at whatever temp you set it at for a LONG time. When you are done, you simply close the vents and the fire/coals are extenguished. Next time... you simply relight the charcoal and repeat.

I have gotten up early on Sundays and set it at 225...put on a brisket...gone to church.. come back 6 hours later and it is still at 225 and the brisket is falling apart.
I can crank it up to 700-800 and sear steaks in a couple of minutes.
There is enough room on mine that I can cook 6-8 hamburgers, 4-6 ears of corn and a small pan of baked beans all at the same time.

The hardwood charcoal is easy to find at HomeDepot/Lowes/etc. It lasts a while...I put about 1/2 a bag in at a time... that usually lasts me 3-4 cookings.

Because the ceramic sort of "seals" the grill... it does a great job of sealing in the moisture.

I was able to get in on a group buy and got one discounted. They aren't cheap...but I have been very happy with mine.

Here is mine on our backdeck.

It looks like we have a little bounus for The Dis Dads Philly Zoo trip:cool1:
Besides all the new baby animals, starting April 9th till Oct. 31 they are having a puppet show called X*tink*shun a wild puppet x*perience, featuring puppets designed from The Jim Henson Company, it looks like it will be scattered around the zoo:cool1:

Haven't heard from Carl about it, but looking at the poll, it looks like it will be on a Sat. sometime in May:confused3

I hope it's not Memorial Day weekend! We'll be at the airshow in Millville, NJ, watching the Blue Angels perform!

Tony's in Birch Run, MI.

i am planning to be there...however if something comes up does it automaticly put me on Auto-pick? Can I call Dibs on Pujols??:rotfl2:

Yes. The draft order gets set at random just before the draft. So you still may have a shot at Pujols.
