She would prefer that we consider other destinations, and the travel costs from the middle of the country make it a little harder. So far, the best I've been able to do is sell her on a return trip in January 2013 (but every once in a while, I do go ahead and run numbers and rough out plans for a trip sooner).

I'm from NWArkansas so I understand the middle of the country thing. My brother actually lives in Overland Park, went to Baker University. I found it very odd that my airport(XNA) that is normally twice as expensive as REAL airports is half the price flying to orlando as MCI. That is flying XNA-SFB instead of MCI-MCO.

I got my Saab 900 SET convertible up to 125 - with the top down - on I-35 on the way to Wichita. I backed it off when I noticed there were tumbleweeds by the side of the highway. I didn't like the thought of what would happen if one of those tumbleweeds hit my turbocharged engine's cold air intake at 125 mph.

Need I remind you of this important MANLAW:

No prob, just a cold. Just enough to keep me up at night and make work totally the pits. I drove for 12 hours today sick. Not fun.
The rest of the crew had ear infections, strep, sinus infections makes for a lot of fun with all of this peanut butter going on in mad town.
This could be our last trip home to WDW. DW might get axed because of the bill. High paid goes first.
We'll make it a good one and deal with the rest later.

After that long drawn out story, I have a question for everyone. When planning your trips, do your wifes plan with you or do they just get tired of you talking about it(like mine)?

My wife does most of the planning. She'll take the time to organize who has what EMH when so that we can figure out what parks we are going to be at on which days. (I hate that sentence but improving it would be hard) Once she has that we both compile a list of first and second choices for our ADR's. We may not be able to decide what we want to eat during our next meal at home, but when it comes to disney we've got it planned out 7 months in advance. Once we get to Disney I take over to insure that we make it to rope drop every morning. We can slack off at home. There's no time for sleeping in on a Disney vacation.

I'm definitely the planner, and my wife appreciates it. She loves that she knows I'm going to be obsessively prepared, and she doesn't have to worry about anything until it's time to pack (I'm lousy at packing. She's much better and more organized than I am when it comes to packing).

We are just the reverse, she plans I pack. She would go nuts is she did not have control of it all. She is good at it so I let her do the work and I enjoy the ride.


Had to edit I'm up late and we now have only one week left.

I am the planner and the packer, maybe a little OCD. I have a meeting scheduled for Friday to discuss all my plans with my group, 8 adults & 4 kids ages 4-10(at time of trip). I just read a article about Disney's Art of Animation Resort, looks amazing and will be opening summer of 2012 with my trip being sept. 2012. I was planning on renting a huge villa and all of us staying together(less expensive+full kitchen) but this might be something I cant miss. Also crossing fingers the Fantasyland expansion is done by that time.

That Saab was the most fun car to drive that I've ever owned. It's amazing what a small, efficient, turbocharged engine can do when you punch the accelerator and you're already going 60 mph on the highway on a cool fall day. And all the moreso with the top down.

Unfortunately, I lost that car in a flash flood several years ago. Nothing like being stalled out, looking down, and seeing water inside the car up to your thigh.

By that time, DD was in a car seat and we were considering adding a second child. I could get one car seat safely in the back seat of the 2+2 Saab, but not two (I couldn't drive with the seat moved up far enough to accommodate the seat). So when I replaced the car post-flood, I got a bigger sedan instead. I still miss that Saab. It's a shame that GM's poor management ran the marque into the ground. They were brilliantly engineered cars.

so i've been lurking on this and some of the other disdads threads. While this seemed like a place i should sign up, i wasn't sure that i needed to find another timesuck on the disboards. I finally decided that it was time to man up this afternoon, but then work got in the way. So it had to wait till tonight. So gentlemen, i'd like to become one of you.

Filling out paperwork now, We are sending my son to a private school, besides the reg. school tax we pay it will be a extra $4500+ per year for K-8, HS is around 10k right know

This is the same schools I went too, back in the day it was around $600 for K-8, and 2k for HS

We do private school for our kids. We're only in 2nd & K now, but the closest H.S. is $11,000 THIS year. Who knows what will happen to tuition in the next 6 years when they start going. But when you look at it as 4 kids x's 4 years a piece x's $11,000 (plus fees)? And you now know why I don't have a DVC membership...

120 in a Minivan would be sweet. I've always wanted a Toyota to make a TRD Sienna or Honda to make a Type R Odyssey.

I'm really liking the idea of a TRD Sienna. A lift kit and some skid plates would make your everyday soccer practice car a great hunting vehicle, too.
