My girls love all things Disney and have been to WDW every year since they were born.

Unfortunately, we've only done a 1 day trip to MK each year as we vacation in Daytona Beach, FL. My wife and her sisters have always gone to Daytona Beach each year since they were in college...so it's tradition.

I'm hoping to change the tradition soon and thankfully everyone in the family agrees that we must make a WDW full week trip very soon.

Currently we're scheduled to visit MK again in April during the Spring Break rush.... I know we're nuts...but we always go on vacation during Spring Break each year.

So please consider this post my "application for membership"!

Welcome aboard Scott!
Yes, I sing the guy parts, but I'm not above harmonizing the rest of the songs, either. :rotfl:

Had an early Christmas with the in-laws and DS and DD got new disney PJs :thumbsup2 ... and a week in Fort Wilderness cabins with their grandparents next summer! Sure beats the flannels sheets they gave them 2 years ago. :confused3
Wouldn't they be surprised if the Fort Wilderness cabins have flannel sheets...

First order of business, Scott, welcome to the DIS Dad's club!

Secondly, I really appreciate all the updates from the Dad's at Disney World. It's great to see that you're all having a good time and getting some good meets in.

I've really become interested in this Cam Newton stuff at Auburn. Let's review: dad shops your services for between 180 and 200K. Suspended for 12 hours then reinstated the same day. Meanwhile at North Carolina, a football player is suspended for 6 games because his school teacher mother helped him correct a paper that he wrote. Now, there was other stuff at NC with other players that was well deserved with the suspensions and stuff that I will never, ever defend, but the paper/6 games and shopping your kid for 200K/12 hours just reeks of major stinch.

Rant over.

Rant cont'd - how different is what Cam Newton's father did from what Reggie Bush's family did? Because they actually got the money instead of just asking for it? From now on, every blue-chip athlete should have some crazy family member ask for $$ from whatever college is recruiting them. If they get caught, the athlete can just say it was their crazy relative and they didn't know a thing about it. They should rename the BCS Title game and call it the Hypocrisy Bowl.

OK, my part of the rant is over.

ClearScreen

I have to agree... apparently Cam Newton and Auburn supposedly didn't know about what his dad was doing (yeah, right:rolleyes:) and so they are off the hook.... To me, it seems like a huge inconsistency on the part of the NCAA. Nothing against Auburn or Newton, and I'm a Purdue fan so I HATE IU, but a few years ago Kelvin Sampson makes a few illegal phone calls and it ruined one of the top basketball programs in the nation. They're still under probation with a coach and players that weren't even around when the violations went down, but at least Sampson was punished as well. Memphis basketball, penalized for violations that occurred under Calipari's watch, while he's up at Kentucky, doing his thing. USC, banned from post season play for past violations... I think it is fine that punishments were levied for a rules violation, but I'm really kind of sick of the NCAA coming back 4 or 5 years after the fact and penalizing players and coaches that weren't even there when the violation happened. The NCAA said if evidence comes up that Newton or Auburn knew anything about what his dad was doing, they'd revisit the issue... in other words, if I'm a HS player looking to play for a title contender, I'd probably look elsewhere for the next few years.:rolleyes1 It just seems pointless for the NCAA to punish a program, while the individuals responsible go unpunished. It just seems to me that the way they handle rules violations just gives incentive to coaches and players to do whatever it takes to get that big payday and move on. Obviously, they aren't cleaning anything up.

You get your number when our Recorder of Deeds, Emma's Dad, checks in and adds you to the list. Or, you can just peek at the list and add 1 to whatever the last number is.:thumbsup2

Welcome Scott. I'm pretty new here as well, but I think you'll find that everyone here is very welcoming!

Like you, I am surrounded by princesses as well, albeit a bit older (DW 46, DD 25, DD 20, DD18). I've been blessed with great daughters who treat thier Dad like a king, although you'll find that there will be some "drama" moments:scared1:. Let's just say that when they were all teenagers, MOST every day of the month was good....

On a sad note, the world lost a great one today in the passing of Ron Santo. Good ol' #10 was a great baseball player (who should be in the Hall of Fame), but more importantly he was a courageous humanitarian who showed great strength through his health struggles and ordeals. His charitable efforts helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the years in the support of diabetic research. He will be missed by all of his fans and supporters. Rest in peace Ronnie!:littleangel:

Alright dads, here's an update, DW went to Indy for her interview on Monday, it was one exhausting day for her, she flew out Sunday night, interviewed Monday at 9:00am, and was on a plane back by 12:30pm, finally landing in Florida at 5:30pm. She believes that she did well, but we haven't let our hopes get too high......

Well, Yesterday, on Thursday, she recieved an email from them asking for updated phone numbers for two of her references which had obviously changed their numbers recently. Now, this got us thinking, yes, they might be checking the references for all of the finalists, but, if she wasn't at the top of the list, they wouldn't be asking for these two phone numbers when she has 4 other references listed, they'd simply move on to the next or skip her altogether if they where leaning towards someone else.

Either way, we're still not getting our hopes too high, but we are due for a Christmas miracle and this could be it.

Other than that, had an amazing time @ MK over Thanksgiving, not nearly as full as it is on Christmas Day, but still rather crowded. Didn't get the traditional T-Give dinner, but at least I was able to gnaw on a turkey leg while strolling through MK with my girls. We also hit SeaWorld, which, impressed me with their Christmas shows and celebrations.

I'll try to post an update when I learn more, for now, hope everyone is enjoying the season, I'm in shorts and a t-shirt for what may be my last warm winter.

I had to edit my signature...looks like in a few weeks I will have to do that again two more times!!!!

Happy Belated Birthday!

So, i'm reading the posts & DIS Dad meet up's, and i'm a little upset that we're going when we are. It looks like you all are having a great time both with the families, and meeting up with each other, if only for long enough to get a picture taken.
Also, i'm not sure i'll be able to hold out for 24 more days! It was so bad I'm looking up the menus to decide what to have! :cool1: Seriously, if it wasn't for the thread, someone would have shot me by now. (emoticon :BANG: ) no? worth a try...
:offtopic: I'm boB. I checked, and my name isn't next to my name. My father has the same first name, so around 14, I decided i'd spell my name backwards, so if someone called, they could say "the boB that spells his name backwards" and it's stuck. So, boB is correct, Bob is not. (though mail gets to me either way.)

Next, a friend is headed to WDW the 2nd or 3rd week of January. She has little ones, and i remember about the Postcards from Mickey. I was going to do this, but, what do they say, generally? Something like, Dear child, Your mom & Dad said you were coming to visit, and i'm looking forward to meeting you. Sincerely, Mickey & minney?

And, though you don't care, here are our ADR's. Thanks to winter and 5 kids who don't swim, we skipped water park fun & more in favor of DxDDP:woohoo:
12/27 - Le Cellier lunch, Biergarten (inside) dinner
12/28 - Chef Mickey Breakfast, Mama Melrose Fantasmic dinner, Tepana Edo dinner
12/29 - Tusker House Breakfast, Hollwood Brown Derby Dinner
12/30 - Le Cellier lunch (maybe rose & crown lunch) Spirit of Aloah dinner
12/31 - Tony's Town Square Lunch, Coral Seas Dinner
1/1 - Crystal Palace breakfast.

how long will the next 24 days be? Also, does anyone have a "good" Drinking around the world passport? The one I have won't print evenly from the Powerpoint its saved in.-

Sorry! That little off topic emoticon looks really mean!

I just wanted to make sure Emma's Dad saw the post.

Hopefully no one reads that and thinks i'm starting a fight.

Online check in at Saratoga Springs - check.
I'll check in with Frontier Airlines this afternoon, although we already have our seats assigned to us, so don't have to set a reminder to hit it at exactly 24 hours out.
They're still calling for snow tonight and tomorrow, but the expected totals have been steadily dropping.
The last time we flew down to Orlando (March 2009), Milwaukee's airport was hit with 14" of snow. Not the city of Milwaukee, mind you, just the area immediately around the airport. We were delayed about 2 hours or so, and by the time we took off and circled around to the south, I could see the parking lot of Miller Park barely had any snow in it. :confused3:mad:
Keep your fingers crossed kids, because if we want to meet up with Steve, Carl, Christian, Dave, et al at Ghirardelli's at 7:00, we can't have any delays.

We got our postcards from the Fairygodmailer last month. They simply said "Cant wait to see you soon, From Mickey and Minnie!". I have to send one when we get there. Already got a card that from King Soopers that is a Mickey Mouse Club hat and it is blank inside. Ill have my wife to write on the inside since they would have to get ahold of DisFed and NSA to decrypt it if I did it. Very cool idea someone had on that one.

Nor will I hold being a Herd fan against you...:) I've actually had season tickets to the Rockets games for the last 6 years or so. 2000-2002 were some fun years....a lot of back and forth battles. And MAC Championship games too! Ah...those were the days....
