Ummm....have you been on anything larger than an aircraft carrier? :confused3:rotfl2:

Or you can smuggle drinks and snacks in. Not like I do, but you know, I've heard of it being done.

Oh yeah...that's been done before. But honestly that works better in the winter time when you have all of the extra padding of the big coats and such... in the summer time the shorts and t-shirts don't really hide much being smuggled in... or so I've heard, anyway. ;)

That's when you bring the "diaper bag". Its amazing what you can fit in there without being checked.

We were thinking that we might visit Ohio next year, I think Cedar Point is there:confused3, but DW wants to hit the zoo, Jack Hannah is one of our favorite to meet up with each year, and she wants to check out his home zoo:goodvibes, besides that I don't know any other points of intrest that are in the same areas in Ohio to fill a week:confused3

There are a few things that can keep you busy, perhaps not a week, but there are some neat things. Cedar Point is one, but there is a large waterpark called Kalahari minutes away from Cedar Point that could keep you busy. In Cleveland the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is pretty cool. A bit further south and on the way to Columbus is the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Also near the hall of fame is Amish country. Then of course you wanted to see Jack Hannah at the Columbus zoo. From there Kings Island is really neat. And lastly not a long drive from Kings Island, is the National Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This place is pretty awesome.

I agree, it's hard to get siked thinking about a trip to Ohio, but it does offer a few nice things.

Oh yes, I remember those days well... that and the bottom of the stroller. But alas, those days are gone in our household. Though my wife does sometimes switch from her usual small to mid-size purse to the BIG purse for such occasions. In fact she told me that just last week she and the kids went to one of those summer-time "free" kids movies one day and saw the Veggie Tales "Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" (again) and popped their own popcorn at home, and then stopped at the gas station and bought several of the $1 movie sized candies, and brought a couple of bottles of water from home and they were all set.

Ahh the things they do when I'm at work. I wonder about them sometimes...

With all the new Dads out there, I was wondering if any of you will be at WDW in the time frame of Dec 4 - Dec 11:confused3 During The Dis Dads In Dec Trip the more the merrier plus Goofy +3 is buying 1st round:goodvibes:cool1::woohoo:

You sure can spend my money, can't you?

Hello Monday...I hope you are nicer to me than Friday was. Please...no more than one meeting today!!

:magnify: Excuse Me Sir! Are you trying to smuggle in cheese balls:confused3 Security, we have the cheese ball bandit in custody:lmao:
You can have my cheeseballs when you you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

Why do they have to be gone? It doesn't look weird for a grown man to walk into a movie theater with his wife and teenage children carrying a "Disney Babies" diaper bag. :confused3

We've got one of those discount theaters around here too, but their catch is the movie may only be $2, but they MAKE everyone buy food. Seriously. You go into the theatre, and the theatre seats have all been stripped out and instead their tables like at a restaurant...which this theater is. Cinema Grille they call it, and everyone must order food items off of their menu. The cheapest thing is a side of fries for like $4.50. Plus then the tax and you have to tip since the servers come the table to serve you. It works out being very expensive for a family to hit a movie, not quite as bad as the traditional theaters, but still. Too much. So we typically wait the DVD's come out and either rent them or get them free from the library.

We've got one of the "restaurant theaters" here as well, It came in handy when we were just starting to take DS to movies because we figured we could distract him with food or playing with a toy on the table if he got bored with the movie.

The cool thing is that they also show Monday Night Football for a couple of bucks and have a free nacho bar (they make their money on the beer).

Got a question for you guys.

Since a week runs Sunday through Saturday,Why is Sunday part of the weekend ?:confused3

If you have a good Sunday would you not consider that a good start to your week?:confused3

Or if you have a bad Sunday would you consider it a bad ending to your week?:confused3

Ah grasshopper you are thinking it wrong.

Saturday and Sunday are the "ends" of the "week," thus "weekend."

Now try to snacth these pebbles from my hand.

So in saying that, I pose another question. If Saturday is this weekend would that make Sunday next weekend? :confused3

So we just got back from "Despicable Me"... man that had some very funny moments. :thumbsup2

Second movie in a month for us. That's the most we've done in years! I love going to the movies, but man they're just so expensive. But thanks to AMC having another $1 any size popcorn & $1 any size drink special today (and when we saw TS3)... plus the regular matinee pricing we got out of there only spending $40 for 5 people instead of what could have been more than $105 (IF we were to all purchase drinks & popcorn instead of sharing as we would normally do). Usually we just wait for stuff to come out on DVD... I mean, really, we have Disney trips to make - can't go spending all of our discretionary $$ on "other" stuff, now can we?!? :rotfl:

It might be a bit far for you, but just southeast of Shelbyville near the I-74, Hwy 244 interchange is a drive-in. It is very family friendly, we took our little man there a few weeks ago to see TS3 and A-Team. They have double features there every Fri/Sat night for $6/person. It makes for a very late night, but is a lot of fun. We met up with my brother in law and his fiance and basically had a tailgate party with a pack n play set up for the little man and lawn chairs for the big kids. They have a sign saying no outside food, but I saw a lot of coolers around there... we brought our own snacks, but just a couple of bottles of water and some candy. We saw a car near us that had stopped and got a few pizzas on their way in.

Yeah, there is a lot of fun stuff in Ohio, but definitely spread out. If you get down to the southern part, I also suggest Kings Island and the Air Force museum. If you're into zoos, I know it isn't THE zoo you're interested in, but I really like the Cincinnati zoo. I've personally never been to the one in Columbus though. Also, Newport aquarium in Kentucky (just across the river from Cincinnati) is nice. I'd also be failing in my role as a life long fan if I didn't suggest checking out a Reds game at Great American Ballpark... a beautiful facility located in downtown Cincinnati on the banks of the Ohio River.

saw this on the theme park thread. Gadget guys, who has a park app on their phone. ITunes has about 6 different apps which one have you tried and how good is it.

40 DAYS TILL THE DAWGS HUNKER DOWN!!

I can't believe that after 2+ years on The Dis I've never seen this club. But it's truely a place that make me feel like I belong. Sign me up.

We've been hiding! :lmao: Welcome! You are member # 493! :thumbsup2

I have been a closet DIS Dad for years and finally can come out!

Not that there's anything wrong with coming out of the closet... :rotfl2: Welcome! You are member # 494! :thumbsup2

Hi all...just joining the thread

Welcome! You are member # 495! :thumbsup2

Thank goodness I'm not alone! Just wandered over here from the planning forums and I think I meet the membership criteria :goodvibes

We live in Arizona and have been visiting DL and WDW for many years. Just last year my wife and I had our first trip alone to the parks in over 23 years...but our Children (the youngest is 17) still go with us most trips. This past May we initiated our new son-in-law into the Disney magic and I am pleased to report a new addict. My wife and I grew up in central Florida so we had many childhood and teenage (even courting) experiences at Disney...and of course honeymooned there.

Jimbo

Hi, Jimbo! You are member # 496! :thumbsup2

Is DAD's club member #500 for sale? Where can I sign up?

-Sil

PS. to add to the geography list... was was blessed to go on the Eastbound Repositioning cruise in 2007 - so I have been to Mexico, thru the Panama Canal, Colombia, Aruba and Castaway Cay, Bahamas. I have also been to the UK, France, Italy and Germany.

Almost to #500! Welcome! You are member # 497!

I'm new here, sound like a great place to be though. I'll start off with just some basic info. My name is Pat, I currently live in Norfolk, VA, but am orginally from Seattle WA. I'm currently serving in the NAVY and have been for about 10 1/2 years. We have our next trip to WDW next month. The wifey and all 3 kids will be there along with my mom and some friends flying in from Seattle. They've never been, so it's gonna be cool being able to play the touring guide. Can't wait to get off the boat and join the Facebook page. I think that sums it up for now. Everyone take it easy.

Hey, Pat! You're right down the street from me. Which boat you on now? Welcome! You are member # 498! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Whew! You guys have kept me busy this week! And I still need to finalize the stuff for DDCV :confused3 Can you keep it down in here! I'm trying to think! :rotfl2:

Just checking over the Dad's Club Criteria, I realized I can add one which I didn't see (I may have just missed it). In addition to the waffle iron, telephone, DVDs, Music, Ornaments, etc. I also own a Mickey Mouse Panini/Sandwich Maker, which makes great grilled cheese sandwiches, by the way.

ClearScreen

Added :thumbsup2

Ok since its a Mans club I had a Man law thought the other day

It should be Man Law that Food Network cannot run Giada De Laurentiis and then follow it up with the Barefoot Contessa!

Done :thumbsup2

Well it looks like lightning does stike twice, Last night I was checking my lottery tickets from when we were in VA, seems like I had a really lucky Weds night.

For the 2nd year in a row, my trip has been paid for by the lottery :woohoo::cool1::yay::worship::rockband:party::jumping1:

And my wife thinks I'm nuts:lmao:

Awesome! Good thing I didn't see you that night... I would have jinxed you for sure! :lmao::lmao:

I just donated to Give Kids The World ! What a great foundation. I plan on doing a whole lot more later. Thanks Emma's Dad for putting the link on here! :thumbsup2

FANATIC!! Glad you stopped by for a visit! Love your new addition to the signature...

I forgot to give the date of our upcoming trip. We'll be there from Aug 13-28th, offsite. Can't wait, everyone in the family is very excited, almost giddy. :cool1:

Added to page one :thumbsup2

Hey! I think we just saw the same movie at the same time! Maybe we should get t-shirts or something! :lmao::lmao: My favorite part was when they picked up one of the minions and used him as a chem light. :rotfl2: Yeah.... I'm twisted.

I found out something at Busch Gardens that surpised me a bit, they will refill the souvenir cups from last year, for the same price, now it might not seem like a big deal, but for 3 people your looking at a $20 saving's, It at least pays pretty much for lunch anyway:lmao: Plus the popcorn buckets were the same as last years:yay: Now at the 6 flags by me they would make you get this years cup:confused3

That's awesome! I remember you asking me about those cups... glad to hear you could use the old ones!

So in saying that, I pose another question. If Saturday is this weekend would that make Sunday next weekend? :confused3

Its the beginning of the week so I think it would be this weeks beginning, or the day after the end of this week, or the start of the week that ends next Saturday........

Where are all our lawyers when we need them???
