Hey Guys,

Thought I'd post a little Dad News here.

On April 6th, at approximately 1135 AM, young Garreth Lake caught his first fish.....just look at this Shark he reeled in, I tell ya, the boy's a natural:thumbsup2

I was one proud DISDAD...he loves to fish with me, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Nice catch, Garreth! :thumbsup2

LOVE the shirt! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Wonder if I could get one in less than 13 days... how long did yours take?

I ordered it 4/6, it shipped 4/7, standard mail, CA to IN. Got it today (with a weekend in between). You might be able to get it in time, if you order today.

Psst - Don - don't tell Nate, but did you see "who's" on my shelf... the shelf immediately above the Haunted Mansion?

Thanks for the info! I better get crackin' then!

p.s. Yes... I saw it... I want one :)

Guess what was in my mailbox today....

Personally I hate putting on clothes that haven't been washed yet, especially t-shirts (way too stiff & scratchy for my liking), so I can't wait to get home and wash it up and start wearing it. But I had to get a pic so you could at least see it on and not just hanging on the back of my door.

Looks great Chris!!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I gots to get me one of those!!! :lmao::lmao:

Hey, fellas, I gotta question.

Anybody ever take walkie talkies to the parks? I'm thinking of taking some to keep in touch when folks split up. Any opinions?
Though this has been addressed, when we caravaned in 06, the 2 cars were on different cell plans, so we had 2 walkie-talkies for each car, then meant to use them in the parks, but left them in the car. Still, great for the caravan.

I'll echo this, though I've always gone on the Nitro Bass Boat trip (I think it was 275.00--just don't tell my Bass Cat people I willingly stepped foot in a Nitro)......

I caught MORE fish in Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake---plus it's just righteously cool to have your picture taken holding fish in front of the castle...

But I caught BIGGER fish in World Showcase and it's canals---

Then again, I fished the two areas two totally different times of the year.

I'd say go for it---I intend to do it again when I get back
My dad was asking about fishing at WDW. Does anyone know if they have equipment for use/rent at POR, or just on the guided tours, and he'd need his own tackle box at Riverside? (am I even asking this right?)

As the son of an angler, I would just like to say that I do NOT like fishing, because it was never fun, only work, and I "got in the way" of my dad's trips. so, just make sure you keep the fishing fun, if you want him to really like it. And when he catches a tree bass, don't get too upset. And the first time he swamps a canoe, and $1200 worth of camera equipment gets, uh, "moist", make sure you let him know it wasn't his fault. (even if it was. :rotfl2:)We golf and play cards and other stuff, but not fish. Just a warning to make sure it's fun... although, i am 31 now, this is probably something I should get over.:rolleyes1

and for the 'being a dad not just the guy that lives at the house", Tuesday nights we play outside till dinner, then have dinner, then baths (3 boys ) and the Super Mario Wii till bedtime. Some rituals are easier than others, when you actually like your children, (and they like you.)

CT Disney fan here. Going to Pop for 6day/5nights Sept. 12th. Haven't been to the World since about 9 or 10 and have wanted to go back since (except maybe in my late teens when I was just way too cool for there.)

:woohoo: Sounds like you are going to have a blast! You are member # 455! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

I'm more likely to be in the trees than him:lmao::lmao::lmao:

And you're right, seen too many guys be too serious....not me, it's all about fun for me!!

My job is stressful enough as it is...I fish to have fun and relax....though I like catching as much as the next guy, him having a good time is much more important. Matter of fact, when we go, I don't even fish...all my rods are still locked up in the lockers, it's all about him! He loves to cast and reel---which we all know doesn't work well with live bait:lmao::lmao: But so what...

Heck, he had left his pole on the deck and was playing with the crickets when that little joker hit---good thing I had secured his rod---:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Of course, what I didn't tell you was that in his excitement to get the fish, he knocked over the cricket cage which set most of the crickets free in my boat:eek::eek::eek:...I caught most of them, but one or two made it to freedom...

Wellllll......later last week when I was off bass fishing....a cricket decided to crawl across my foot during a 75 mph run up Lake Seminole....I almost bat turned the boat when I felt that creepy crawly little bugger work it's way into my Keene's:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Edited to add:

You have to use the cane poles and "bait" they sell/rent to you at POR......I have brought my own tackle on one of my Nitro trips, but I knew the guide from fishing tournaments with him and said it was OK.

I'm glad to see someone got their shirt from Zazzle. :thumbsup2

That hasn't really been determined. Christian (chillcoupons) got his as well. Personally I think ours went through because of a lack the web address on it, but I can't say that definitively. But no matter, I'll wear it and enjoy it. MiJo did end up getting quite a good deal from a different vendor after multiple attempts. I'm sure he'll post pics of his when his arrives as well.
I think Nate tried to get one without the Web URL and it still got rejected. I've sent an email to Zazzle twice asking for the reason why most orders have been rejected and they are not responding. It doesn't make sense. So, I ordered the text only two-sided shirt from VistaPrint. I did get quite a deal thanks to an email from them. I also chose the cheapest shipping method so my delivery date isn't until May 1. I'll post pics when I get my stuff.

Hey Fed that is great. I remember when Michael my oldest caught his first fish. Here is the picture. Look way down by the tackle box and you can see the fish.:lmao: This was a few years back but certainly one of my proudest moments. I still get a tear in my eye when I see this picture.

Many years have past since that first fishing trip. Michael and I have gone on many fishing adventures since then but there is something about that first fishing trip that I will never forget. Here is a picture of our latest fishing trip. This is offically Michaels biggest fish. Same kid just a bigger fish.

I have another first fishing trip with Ethan coming up in a few weeks. I am really looking forward to that. He has been watching Mick and I for a couple years now. Seeing the pictures and hearing about the adventures and he is ready to go. Then in a few years I get to do it all over again with Gabe.

I can honestly say I love being a father! I can not understand these dads (and I use that term loosely) that don't spend time with their kids. Makes no sense.
:thumbsup2 fish is bigger than he is!!!! i go to every dance thing there is. (i dont have a son) im also an usher for the recital and do most things that come down the pike. is dance my favorite thing to watch? no, but being there is more important than what i like. i was lucky, my mom and dad went to everything!(they had 5 kids) there was never a time when id look up into the stands or anywere and they wouldnt be standing there. they have been gone 25-28 years now and you can see what i remember!:thumbsup2

May 1st?????????

Are they walking it to you???? :confused3:confused3

Did you click on hand delivery? :confused3

More like crawling it to me! Actually, I think picking the cheapest shipping method just put my order at the bottom of the list for printing. This is all the stuff I got for $19.65, including shipping. It all says DIS DADS.

That seems like a pretty good deal! :cool1: The order says Printing in Progress but I don't know if it actually is or not. If it is, I'll probably get it sooner. They are running some kind of promotional thing to get businesses to buy their stuff for advertising.

Way to go, Garreth! You might be the next Gadabout Gaddis!

Hey, FED! Our Navy son starts his 5-day working interview with the Blue Angels on Sunday! He says he's excited but not at all nervous. I'm excited and nervous!

:cool1:You guys telling your fishing stories...makes me want to share what happened today. While I was at work Ethan went fishing with Pappy. One the way from the truck to the banks of the Ohio River Ethan looks at Pappy and says..."You carry the lines Pappy" as he throws them at him and then takes off running back where he came from. Pappy yelled and asked him what was the problem and Ethan yelled back " I gotta poop!":rotfl2: I asked Pappy where he was running to because there were not bathrooms anywhere and he said I guess he was going to run home! I am sure this loses something in the translation ...just had to hear Pappy tell it.

Hey Stopher I really like the DisDads shirt...that is great:cool1:!

Has anyone done the guided bass fishing at the world? I'm an avid flyfisher and would like to know if its worth it. Were going back in Jun 2011 and I'm considering it. also how much does it cost?:surfweb:
I'm kicking myself for not doing it last trip. I started a thread, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2153460 and did a ton of searching but didn't come up with much.

You can find times & rates here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/recreation/fishing/
