DW's aunt actually lives across the river in Hoboken, NJ. Generally, we stay in New York City, wherever we can get a decent-sized room with my government employee discount. We've done the trip twice. The first time we stayed at the W New York on Lexington. It was beautiful, the staff was great, and it worked fine because The Bug was only just barely walking at the time (and I LOVE Starwood hotels).

For the next trip, The Bug was older and needed more room to move around. We stayed at the Embassy Suites New York, which is in the Financial District. It was a little off the beaten path, but we had a gorgeous view of the Hudson River out our window. The room was HUGE by New York standards, and again the staff was terrific.

We haven't been back since Squeaker was born, and we really should make the trip. It's just so expensive and exhausting with two young kids. In the past, we've gone in July/August, and it's been miserably hot. It would be awfully close in time to our Disney trip, so we might not be able to afford it yet, but a trip in early November might be less draining.

dw and i stayed at embassy a few years ago. dw works for guardian ins. which is close. nyc is only an hour from were we live and dd is buggin for me to take her in when dw goes in. we want to go to hoboken to carlos bakery!! maybe this fall.

:dancer::welcome::dancer: All new Dad's::yay: Wow! We are creeping up to the 500 mark:woohoo: We are also getting close to the end of Dis Dads IV it would be really cool if we hit the 500 mark before Dis Dads V:cool1:

I got an email from Midwest Airlines this afternoon that my flight times have changed. The flight down to Orlando was moved up almost 2 hours. :woohoo:
But the flight back home was also moved up over 90 minutes. It only moved from 8:45pm to 6:07 pm, which really didn't affect anything we had going on. Buuuuuuuut...
I called them anyway, just to see what they had to say. Long story short, I had them move us to a flight the next day (Sunday) at noon.
When I originally booked the flights, I chose to come back on Saturday because the airfares were $100 cheaper.

So we get another day in Florida, and we're on my original flight choice for no additional cost.:banana:

Welcome to the newbies! (though, i think i'm still a newbie based on total # of posts.)

And, I have some questions...
1) How do i post pictures? I finally have a car worth posting pics of. Do i have to get snapfish or flickr, or can i just insert a pic into this reply?
2) Stopher: Welcome back, now I have questions for you. A pal told me WDW is doing away with Toon Town, in favor of an expanded fantasy land? :confused3

less than 6 months!!! 2 le cellier ressies! both for lunch, but what the heck!

You'll have to get a snapfish, flickr, picasa, etc etc account. I should have some time tomorrow at "work" where hopefully I can put together a tutorial.

It depends on the airfare I can get and what else we have planned for any specific vacation. Since this trip we are staying on property almost exclusively (only a few nights with DW's parents) and I was able to find a great sale where I could fly all 4 of us down for less than $600, I jumped on it.

Hey, just got back from a family trip to Gatlinburg, and it looks like there's a lot to catch up on. Had a nice trip to the Smokies... although very hot. It is the third time I've gone there with the in-laws and it becomes more apparent everytime that although I always enjoy it and have a good time, my idea of vacation and theirs isn't exactly the same. Just something I don't get about spending hours browsing through overpriced cheap crap you have no intention of buying.:confused3 Feels like wasted vacation time to me.

I see that Big_Disney_Fan already posted a link for you to look at.

Yes, Toon Town is going away, well most of it. It was still there when I was in the MK 4 or 5 weeks ago, but so far I haven't read any definitive timetable as to when it is going away. Goofy's Barnstormer will remain, but will be rethemed. Dumbo will be moving over into that area, but there will then be 2 of them instead of just 1.

I have read that Mickey & Minnie will receive new permanent meet & greet locations on Main Street, possibly in the Exposition Hall (think Tony's Town Square), in the back where the Walt Disney Story used to be. But like anything related to Disney - it can change.

I think it was either this week or last week on Mouseplanet I read and saw photos of the latest goings on in Fantasyland. More and more ground has been cleared behind that wall of fences (you can see some of them in my last TR from 4-5 weeks ago [SOLO Adventure] if you care to). They're finally going to utilize all of the land that 20K Leagues used to occupy, and then some. I just wish they would add more than just 1 attraction (Little Mermaid) - and try to capitalize on more than just the Princesses. Sigh. Oh well.

Woody: Hey Norm. How's the world treating you?
Norm: Like a baby treats a diaper.

My in-laws lived in Champlin up until a few years ago. I really don't miss that 7 hour drive...

Rafiki looks like we are going to see you there or just miss you. We arrive on the 11th of Dec and leave on the 18th staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

I don't know about the rest of you... but I'm getting pretty tired of near 100 degree temperatures this past month. It's the same temp here as in WDW this week (with heat indexes). This has been the hottest summer I can ever remember... and it's only the middle of July. I REALLY need to look into an in-ground pool... :cool1:

thanks all!!! :thumbsup2 i took her out tonight for diner, the nazareth dinner!!:lmao: im the big spender, $23.76.:lmao: thats were we ate the night before her operation so we had to go back. her birthday is thursday, she ask for a new iron and ironing board!! i can handle that. i think ill keep her.:thumbsup2

I wanted to say again...first time on page 212...now again...:bday::bday: to your DW DVCzerfs :cool1::cool1: Hope to hear she had a nice day....

Not really bothered by all this heat....I like the change... better right now than the wind chill minus 30, lake effect snow..average snow fall in Syracuse is 117 inches a season, shoveling snow till your fingers and toes freeze....:cool1::cool1:
