I love the Olympics, especially the Winter Games. Very sad to hear about the luge accident. Saw it replayed and had to turn my head. I love the luge but the course is way too fast. Very sad.

Have to go to watch the opening ceremonies. Go USA!

We love the Olympics also...just wish figure skating was still a contact sport like when Harding and Kerrigan was in it :rolleyes1:laughing:

I know what you mean. Biathlon would be much more interesting if it were head-to-head, instead of them using those stupid targets.

Daddy-O, you must be proud. :thumbsup2Some of the opening images they showed displaying Canada's landscape were breathtaking. I've been up to the Thousand Islands area a few times but that's it. I predict a tourism boom for your fine country.

What I learned from today's opening ceremonies: Curling came from Great Britain, not Canada. Truly shocking.

I am still trying to figure out why the Prime Minister does not get to officially open the games and it has to be a representative of the Queen. We took care of that in 1776.

I just noticed this thread. Going to be taking a trip to Disney in September with my wife and my daughters (4 months and 15 months when we go). Wish me luck ;)

That's awesome!

So we're watching the Olympics opening ceremony and I'm thinking, "And all Canada could come up with for their pavilion in Epcot is a movie with Martin Short?"
:confused3

:welcome: feezle!!! Congrats on finding us, the new family and addition. :cool1:

As for joinging the group, beware of the big barrel of cheeseballs. It can sneak up on you.

Thanks for all of the kind welcomes. As you can see, my wife is the one that is on these boards the majority of the time, of course I am always looking over her shoulder while she is on :rotfl: I am glad that I found a place where I can talk about "Man Things" and still know that I am not the only one who has an obsession for Disney. And let me just say that it is really COLD here today, I live in a Suburb of Chicago and also work outdoors. I think my kids said that we have 39 days until we are in The World again....just hoping it is warmer than this 10 degree weather that we are having :sad2:. I think I may have to persuade DW into relocating to Florida :lmao:

Hey there PoohsFan1! We are also in the Chicago suburbs. :welcome:

I'll hope for warmer weather for here as well as for your trip.

But as Costas said, Canada perfected it. :thumbsup2

Sorry my closet Canadian is coming out tonight.

you know you get those ideas when you are drunk with your mates that seem like the most perfect fun game in the world, and then you sober up and you think "what were we thinking" and then never bother again.....i think canada were at that party and never sobered up

Welcome! It's a challenge with the little ones, but sooo much worth it. We had a trip planned when we got placement of our foster daughter. She was seven weeks old, so we adjusted our plans a little and brought her along. We eventually adopted her, and she loves looking at those pictures of her with the princesses! They won't remember much of it, but you sure will! :thumbsup2

I was hoping Off Kilter would come out and close the show!

I think we had a moderator once. She was last seen weeping softy and muttering something about cheese balls. :confused3

Maybe the following are examples of why a moderator would be curled up in a corner twitching.

All too funny. Moderator, we don’t need no stinking moderator.

Good job Vancouver and Canada. The floor thing where they projected images was cool. Think Disney imaginers were watching? Could add a whole new element to Fantasmic for instance. Cringed though when they had the technical problem with one of the arms for the torch.

I really enjoyed most of the ceremonies after the parade of nations. The parade is cool, but always so long. I really thought the whale projections on the floor with the spouts of water or steam was awesome. And then the way the center stuff kept transforming from totems to trees to slopes etc was neat. It's always fun to see how each host nation does their opening show. I still remember being there for the '84 Summer Games in Los Angeles... that was fun. But watching last night was fun too. I always say GO U S A ! ! ! - but as a good neighbor - Way to go Canada - good job!

Besides - how could a moderator keep us on topic anyway? We're Dads - we talk about a LOT of different diverse things. We're ALWAYS on topic! :lmao:

And since we throw in some Disney here and there (some much more than others, but I digress) - we're living up to our charter. We just don't need 'em! :rolleyes1

So I'm now less than 4 weeks til the Wilderness Lodge with my sweetie. Can't wait!!! (There, I threw in an "on-topic" reference) :thumbsup2

Topic? We have a topic?

hey guys sorry for my absence but been without power for 2 1/2 days( snow storm took out wires).I am depressed:sad1:I get back on here and I see Zerfs is been gone also for a bit ( hope thing are OK).But the reason for my depression is everyone noticed that zerfs was not here but nobody notice I was gone:confused3Oh well there is no time for hurt I will get over it.Well the storm kind of did a number on us, lost power for 2 1/2 days( lucky I had the fireplace and frig in the igloo for us to use for heat and refrigeration). Seriously lucky I had a generator to keep the refrig and freezer going, didn't think of wiring the heater into the generator until after the first night. You know how cold it can get without heat in a house? I can tell you lol.

On the good side having no electric kind of gave me more reasons to stay outside and shovel and play with kids (as if I needed any excuse to play in snow). This old body is whooped Had to shovel My house and neighbors,mother-in-laws,mothers and her female single neighbor.Did these all twice cause snow was heavy ( better to do half at a time instead one big one). Then found some time to play with the kids,Cinderella's castle was to big for us ( really just me) to tackle so we had to go with regular castle ( needed a change from igloos). Will post some pics of the newest snowfall and our castle on FB.Then might put some here but last time I did that I got viruses from photo bucket so I dumped that(still have not cleaned up laptop).

Kids are off from school until wed so still leaves me plenty of time to add on to the castle thinking of some turrets on the sides with a big Mickey emblem on the front. They are calling for more snow on Mon night, but only 4 to 8 inches more so far.Well off to FB to post some pics and will be back in here( really not even leaving) later

Carl, I was starting to wonder where you were, figured you were busy working on houses that got damaged, or were building your masterpiece snow castle. Glad to see you had a gen. to keep things working:thumbsup2 I hear ya on body aching from shoveling, don't know if it was from it being heavy or from having to lift it onto the existing mountains of snow :confused3. Glad to see you are OK.

Sorry, Carl. I must refer you to my screen name as to why I didn't pick up on your absence. I think it takes us guys a couple of weeks before we notice anything amiss.

Anyway, I'm glad you have the power back on, and nice work on the igloo! You've beaten me. All I've managed is to dig a tunnel through a snow pile so far.
