As sleep had gotten the better of us last night, we of course woke at an ungodly hour this morning 2am
!. We dozed on and off but at 4.00am decided to get up as we were wide awake and would only have felt much worse if we had lay on any longer.
We had a cup of tea, watched some tv, then showered, dressed and went out for our first day holiday ritual Breakfast at Dennys. DH had the lumberjack breakfast (as he always does!) and I had the Slim Slam which was delicious. We left Dennys at 9am and it was HOT so we headed back to the villa and went for a swim. Not many photos today so here's a picture of the pool that we had our swim in
It was so refreshing and I wish I had a pool in my back garden! (I know, dream on
). After our swim we felt tired again (body clock up the left) so we had a bit of a mid morning snooze. We woke about 12ish and had some melon and grapes for lunch (we were still full up from breakfast, but rest assured this health kick wouldn't last!). Our friends were arriving today from Sanford and we were going to meet them
so at about 1pm we headed out to the airport, stopping at Walmart on the way for a few things, including walkie talkies for the days ahead. We also stopped by our friends vacation company offices so that we could locate where exactly it was for them to pick up their keys and also the villa community they were staying.
We found Sanford easy enough, parked up and went to wait at the arrivals terminal for Joanne and her family. As we were parking up we saw their plane come in to land which was excellent timing on our behalf! It was really hot and as people were coming out of the arrivals hall you could see the heating was hitting them like a hammer up the face! One guy came out of the airport wearing a leather jacket and i thought to myself "you won't need that here mate" After about 40 minutes they emerged from the terminal tired but happy to be here. We got their car hire sorted and then arranged to meet them as they left the complex so that they could follow us to their vacation office. It was their first time in Florida (or abroad as a family) and Joann'es DH was really nervous about the driving.
Joannes DS3 (age 5) ready for action
Once the keys had been picked up we dropped them to their villa and went out to get Burger King for tea and dropped Joanne at Winn Dixie for a few provisions. The lady at Burger King was a bit shocked at the amount of food we were ordering and kept on repeating it like she could not believe her ears! The conversation went like this:
Us: Three chicken nugget kids meals please
BK lady: Three?
Us: Yes Please
BK lady: Three chicken nuggets kids meals. Is that all
Us: No, can we also have a large whopper meal please.
BK lady: A large whopper meal?
Us: Yes Please.
BK lady: Three chicken nuggets kids meals and a large whopper meal. Is
that all?
Us: No, can we also have 5 Aberdeen Angus meals please (gorgeous
btw!)
BK lady: 5?
Us: Yes, 5.
BK lady: 5 Aberdeen Angus Meals? (said slowly and deliberately like she
couldnt believe her ears!)
Us: Yes please.
BK lady: Three chicken nuggets kids meals, a large whopper meal and 5 Aberdeen Angus meals. Is that all?
Us: No, can we also have 9 small diet cokes please. (I know, the cheek of us!)
Well, there was 5 adults and four children! She said our order would take a few minutes (I wonder why?) and so we had to park up and wait in the car park where our order would be brought to us. about 5 minutes later this little lad came to the car with our order. He looked at us and then looked at the order, I could tell he was a bit dumbfounded. It was hilarious. I felt like shouting after him "there are 6 more people back at the villa" but i thought what the hell, let him think we're greedy so and so's
At around 8pm we said good bye and left Joanne and her family to it as we knew how shattered they must be. We went back to our villa to get things ready for our early start tomorrow, 7.40 am breakfast at Chef Mickeys. We were in bed by 10pm.
