Cast:
Me: 33 - Florida Mad, Disney Daft etc, etc,
DH: 41 - As above x 100
Also Starring:
Friend Joanne, Joanne's DH, FIL and 4 lovely DS's aged 9, 8, 5 and 2.
We woke at 5.30 and left our villa at 6.30 to pick up Joanne and her clan. We headed to the contemporary for Chef Mickeys and decided to do Valet parking when we got there excellent idea and well worth the money.
Chef Mickeys was fantastic. Food and character interaction was second to none and I would thoroughly recommend it. I especially loved twirling the napkins, you truly do feel like you are in another reality when youre doing this.
We were visited by Chip N Dale, Pluto, Minnie and Mickey. Joannes kids were awe struck, though the little one (age 2) was a little cautious at the start but the characters are so good at spotting when little ones are afraid and didnt force it. He eventually came round and at one point I thought he was going to pull Chips head of! As there was 9 in our party the gratuity was added to the bill, $30 for pouring orange juice, not bad eh? Dont get me wrong, we would have left her a more than generous tip but I think that was a bit excessive as she didnt do very much in the way of interacting with the kids. (Oh dear, hope I dont sound tight! Honestly dont mean to)
We then got the monorail to Magic Kingdom. I did ask if the kids could ride up front with the driver but someone had got there before us. The CM said we could wait for the next one if we liked but everyone was anxious to get going so we decided to leave it for today. The first ride we did was Buzz Lightyear, a big hit with the kids and one of them scored 110,000 not bad for a first try. We then did the Tomorrow land speedway and headed to the Starlight café for a few cold drinks. Nice to cool down in here. The kids were mesmerised by the alien playing the keyboard. Joanne was wondering if she could buy one to take home .
Next was the tea cups which the oldest one didnt get on (think he thought he was too cool) but Joanne and I got on with the others . DH went on the Merry Go Round (a sight to behold!) with Joannes DS 5 while Joanne, her DH and other three DS queued for dumbo.
Next up we headed for Mickeys Philarmagic which was just starting and again this was a big hit. I think they were blown away by this completely, boy wait till we get to Universal and do Shrek 4D
! We got fast passes for Peter Pan and did IASW in turn so that someone could look after the baby who was asleep (
awwww!). We then all went on Peter Pan which is one of my favourites (even if I do get a bit dizzy when it flies over London!). It was mid afternoon by now and the troups were flagging, a mixture of an early start and jet leg.
We decided to head out of the park and have a late lunch/early dinner. We got the Monorail back to the Contemporary and picked up the cars from Valet parking. I dont know what happened on the way out but we got totally lost and ended up going through this tunnel that bought to the back of WDW! With the help of mapmans map we found our way out but it still took us an hour to find where we were going!
As we had wasted so much time getting lost, we decided not to spend any more time looking for somewhere and head to Dennys for something to eat. (good old Dennys). This meal was nice except the waiter got a bit flustered and messed up the kids orders, thankfully the kids didnt notice and ate what they were given.
By now it was about 5.30 and we were all pretty tired and so headed back to our respective villas for the rest of the evening. DH and I stopped by Walmart on the way back and did some shopping. Then it was a swim and relax for the rest of the evening.
