Hello there and welcome to our dining report! We are happy to have you. Of course, it would be best for me to tell you who “we” are. This picture is from a cruise to the Bahamas that we just did in September.

My name is Tatum, but I more often go by “Mommy”! The little girl with me is my daughter, light of my life, and all-around sweetheart. Her name is MJ (and no, it doesn’t stand for Mary-Jane). We are both huge Disney-lovers. We are both born-and-raised Southern Californians. Needless to say, we are annual passholders to Disneyland. We are very lucky to only live about 45 minutes from the castle. We go often. This picture is from when we went to see World of Color shortly after it debuted.

About Tatum:

As I said, I grew up down here in Southern California and I was able to go to Disneyland a lot. The park really holds a special place in my heart. My favorite ride is Pirates of the Caribbean and I am in love with the theme of New Orleans Square. Some other favorites include: the Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. I really don’t get to do the latter two since MJ isn’t tall enough to go with me yet. I am a single (and happy) mom, so all of our adventures involve just the two of us. And to tell you the truth, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am currently a student and will be graduating with a Bachelor degree in June of 2011. My major is accounting and I should be graduating with honors. It has been a long, interesting road and this trip is something of a celebration, albeit a little early. There won’t be much time to celebrate after graduating when I have to start studying for the CPA examination. And since we have a 3 week vacation at the end of December, I knew that the time-frame would be perfect. It doesn’t hurt that Christmas is my favorite time of the year!

About MJ:

MJ just turned 3 back in August. Did I forget to mention that she just happens to be a princess in addition to being an awesome kid? I didn’t? As she would say, “Sorry ‘bout that!” MJ will take any opportunity to make sure that you know that she is a princess. See? Being a princess is hard work!

Her favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion, followed closely by It’s a Small World and Alice in Wonderland. She also loves to ride Matterhorn with mommy. Unfortunately, as of this writing, she is only 38 inches tall. What makes it so unfortunate is that this little girl is absolutely desperate to ride Splash Mountain. Poor kid. She has stalled out at 38 inches for a couple of months now. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a growth spurt before the trip.

MJ’s favorite color is, of course, pink. She has plans to do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique during the drip and dress at Sleeping Beauty. However, she isn’t dressing as Sleeping Beauty because the dress is pink. No, she is going to get that dress because she has almost all of the other ones! She is also a big fan of Disney movies. It might just be easier to say that the one she doesn’t have is Lilo and Stitch. I really need to get around to buying that for her, especially since we have an Ohana reservation during the trip. But more on that later.

About the trip:

This is a first time to Disney World for the both of us and we are probably equally excited! We have been planning and discussing it for months. The trip has been paid off, the arrangements have been made, and now all that we have to do is wait! We will be visiting Disney World from December 11th to the 20th. Remember how New Orleans Square is my favorite place in Disneyland? Well, can you guess where we are going to be staying? Port Orleans, of course! Riverside to be exact. We will be renting a car, so I wasn’t concerned with the resort being spread out. I just really want to end up in one of the mansions. Time will tell!

We are going to be on the Deluxe Dining Plan. I was able to book our resort with a 30% off pin. This report will be a dining report, for sure. However, there might be some more trip report elements, too. I honestly couldn’t decide which type of report to do: dining or trip. But since I spend so much time lurking on this board and since it has provided me with so much good advice, I decided to do a dining report. There will be some stuff about the trip in there, too. Consider it a hybrid. Once we get back from our trip, this pre-trip report will then covert to the actual dining report. The table of contents will be in the next post.

Thanks to everyone in advance for checking in to follow our special vacation and dining adventures. I can’t wait to get this started. Now if only December would get here faster!

What a sweet pic of the two of you! Count me in for the Xmas fun and games :thumbsup2

Sounds like good eating!

When Skye (now 6 and barley 41 inches tall!) did BBB a few years ago (I want to say she was 3 or 4???) we planned the whole Princess Day...we hit BBBin the castle at 8am (best time cause there is no waiting!) and then had a fast breakfast at Main Street Bakery, hit Akershus for lunch, and then 1900 Park Fare for dinner. We should have tried for Breakfast in the castle but we didn't. But she loved it! She was dressed as Jasmine (with a costume from home...I think there are pictures in one of the links in my signature) and Jasmine at Akershus provided a lot of extra attention!

I'll be along for your dining report!

Yeah we're going to do BBB at 8am and then have the reservation for CRT. It should be perfect for her highness. I actually have the castle as the wallpaper on my laptop. She always points to the bottom and says, "This is where I get my hair done," then points to the windows one level up, "and this is where we are going to breakfast." She's super excited.

Thanks for following along!

Awwwww! Can't wait to read more!

Thank you very much! I just can't wait to get there.

Since I had Liberty Tree Tavern booked on two different days, and because a lot of people have been saying that lunch is way better than dinner, I decided to change out my dinner reservation on the 12th for The Wave. I figured that since we will be at MK, it would be really easy to go to dinner at a monorail resort. I had planned to not use the car on MK days, so there you go. Now I just have to decide if we really want to do Akershus twice. But there are princesses there, so I might encounter more resistance.

Hello!! Count me in...I LOVE dining "hybrid" reports. My family and I will be at the World 12/6-12/13 and we will be on the DxDP as well. It looks like we have quite a few of the same ADRs so it will be interesting to compare our experiences with yours! I plan to do a dining report also but we will see....I planned to do one last trip but somehow never got around to it. I am really gonna try to get it done this time around. The DIS has been essential to my Disney planning both times and I would like to contribute something as well. Have a great trip (I am so excited....we leave in less than 7 weeks!!) and I look forward to reading your report when you get back!!

BTW...your little girl is precious!!! She will love the BBB and CRT!! My littlest was her about her age when we last went and she remembers it ALL 3 years later. In fact she will be spending the morning of her 6th birthday at both places on our second day there!!:goodvibes

Aw, thanks! It looks like our days will overlap by a little bit. I am really looking forward to all of these (probably) great meals. You should totally report back if you have the time once your trip is over. And yeah, MJ is really looking forward to BBB. We have done it a couple of times out here at Disneyland, but going and then having breakfast in the castle is going to be extra special. :santa:

I hope your family has a wonderful trip and your daughter has a magical birthday!

You guys are adorable!!! I'm so excited for you, what an AMAZING trip you have planned!!! I can't wait to read about it all. You have sooo many cool dining experiences set up. Coral Reef is one of my first memories of Disney from when I was about 4, and it has always stayed with me. It's great that MJ will get to eat by the big tank and see all the amazing marine life living in there. We have 2 princess meals coming up in November, it's our first time doing any character meals! :goodvibes:goodvibes

You're lucky, you only have about a month left! Thank you for checking in. I'm really excited since MJ and I will both be experiencing The World for the first time together. I hope your trip is really awesome!
:flower3:

One more change. Since we had Akershus booked twice, I changed the breakfast on the 17th to Kona Cafe. I have been reading a lot of good things about this place, so I thought, "Why not?" I decided to make it later in the morning since we will be doing the Christmas party the night before and we have a late lunch on the 17th for the Fantasmic dinner package. So I guess it works out. I was going to have us go to Epcot the morning of the 17th, but we might not have enough time to do much. We'll see! I'm sure that lying around for half a day will be welcome by then.

I decided that we would spend the first half of the day at Epcot on the 19th, so I booked Tappan Edo for lunch. MJ loves miso soup, too, so she will likely love it. Hopefully we won't need anymore changes!

Well, we got back yesterday after two days of travel and being stuck in Denver overnight because of the airline. There were a couple of changes along the way and some major hiccups when we got there, but that will be a story for the report. I'm looking forward to starting later today!

Joining in. The day you arrived is the day we left Disney. Our son loves miso soup too. I can't wait for you to get started. I made our ADR's 180 days and changed it before our trip and during the trip.
