DDA, I have an idea to cheer up June!

I am going to make a giant "Get Well, June!" sign. When we go to WDW in 3 weeks, I'm going to get a group photo of us holding it by the Goofy statue. If we all did that when we go, I bet she'd love it! What do you think?​

John and I both sat down and prayed together last night for her. I'm crying again thinking of the struggles she faces. BUT, we all know what a fighter June is, and I am positive she will beat this monster and recover fully! DDA Prayer Warriors unite!

I think it's a great idea, Denise!!! I'm looking around here for some stuff to send her to cheer her up, but I think a photo by her Goofy statue would really do the trick!

By the way, I love the new picture of the kids!

Kate--it was so nice to see you posting!! Take the meds, even if you feel like you dont need them ! i made that mistake after surgery-i took my meds after that! Hope you get some rest!

Hey everyone

Just thought I would stop in and thank you all for the well wishes and prayers

I have been having full blown anxiety attacks all week and actually begged Steve not to drive to the hospital - I told him I was going to tell them I ate a HUGE breakfast and might be pregnant to avoid surgery - my nurse was laughing and said to me at one point - "you do realize this is elective surgery don't you?"

But don't worry - once the gave me my "happy shot" it was smooth sailing - I was out for about an hour and left the hospital about an hour later - I came home and slept all afternoon and now I contemplating dinner -I have felt pretty nausous and walking in the house made me throw up but I have taken some phenergan and I am getting pretty hungry -

the doctor told Steve he was able to fix it and it was pretty bad and definately needed to be fixed - and I should be back to new pretty soon - I have 6 weeks of physical therapy

I got a shot of mrphine at about 2:00 at the hospital but I haven't needed any more pain medicine yet - I am sure I just jinxed myself - I am so exhausted - I might just go back to sleep!!!

Sounds like a big success!!! Best of luck on your physical therapy. I hope that are up for some dinner and that the pain stays away. Take care!

Thanks for the update, Denise. Dawn, I am so glad that you are getting the support you need at the hospital. We are praying that you get to go home soon and can stay there! Caroline is a strong little girl and will do great, I know. Take care of yourselves and know that we miss you, but we'll see you when you can stop by.

Hi All!

I'm back with a nasty head cold and a very bad case of post Disney depression. We some very magical moments at Disney but unfortunately had some issues with the hotel-came back to the hotel late the first night to a room without any funiture and a connecting room with about 20 matresses in it. When I went to tell the supervisor who assigned us the room the condition of the rooms the next day she laughed and said it wasn't her fault-engineering had told her the rooms were OK. I need to compose a letter to Disney about the experience as she showed no appreciation for what we went through late at night with no luggage or stuff I had shipped down via UPS (that arrived at 11PM). Her reaction was shocking.

Emma was sick for 2 days at Disney, Joe our last day and Lizzie on the car ride home from the airport.

I need to upload the photos from my camera and I haven't had a chance to even unpack yet. I can't imagine how many loads of laundry I'll be doing this weekend.

Lizzie starts school on Tuesday. Joe goes for about an hour on Wednesday to meet his teacher and 1/2 the class and then starts on Thursday and Emma starts on Monday the 11th.

Good news is my husband actually enjoyed the trip and was OK with my meeting Beth and Anne Marie (I didn't tell him in advance). It was really great meeting then and I was blown away with Paula's SSP!!!!! I need to unpack tonight. Maybe the Tink pillowcase will cure my cold and depression.

Hope all is well with everyone. Maybe I can get caught up some over the weekend while doing laundry.

Is anybody else preparing the for the rain that is supposed to be coming this weekend?? They are calling for about 5 inches of rain on top of the 3 we got earlier this week. I feel bad for the people who are still recovering from July to be struck again by flooding it is not a good thing.

Sending that you don't get any flooding this weekend. We are supposed to get only around 2" of rain which the streams/rivers here should handle ok. There is a little concern, because the story going around is that the Farmer's Almanac correctly predicted the past two floods within days of when they happened. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a big one for the beginning of September. So many people here just couldn't handle that right now.

I wish we had an aquarium here. the closest thing is sea world in San Antonio which is 2 hrs away.

I agree, but my aquarium and zoo are both about an hour away in Camden/Philly.

Welcome back, Bernadette! I am glad that you all had a good time despite some illness. The hotel your first night does not sound fun! I would definitely write a letter. The pictures is great too, but can you remind me who's who?

Because these noodles are almost totally a beneficial type of fiber, they have almost no usable carbohydrate or calories. There are some indication that they may have other health benefits as well.
What are shirataki noodles made of? : Shirataki comes from the root of a plant (Amorphophallus Konjac, or a few other closely-related species) grown in various parts of Asia, and given many names in different places, including Konnyaku potato (or just konnyaku), konjac, konjaku, elephant yam (although as far as I can tell, they are not related to any other plant commonly called “yam”), and others. The fiber is also known as glucomannan.
What are the benefits of shirataki noodles?: There is some evidence that glucomannan, when tested as a powdered supplement, can play a role in blood sugar control, as well as produce improvements in cholesterol control and weight loss (see this report). It also contributes to fiber intake, and can be a substitute for starchy noodles.

Here's an update on my mom for those who have asked. Good and bad news, but considering June's news I guess it should all be considered good. They can tell mom has a had a recent stroke. They think it is mild, but have to do more tests. They know she now has two blood clots in her lungs, not sure if this was a low pressure or high pressure (vein vs. artery) stroke. Good news is that her breasts cancer from nine years ago has not metastasized. One of the compression fractures they found does seem to be compressing her spinal cord, and that's why they think she can't walk. Her legs aren't paralyzed -- she has some feeling, but when she tries, she can't move her upper leg to take the step. They have called in a neurosurgeon who is currently in surgery. He will look at the scans and will decide the next step. The complication is the blood clots. The pulmonary specialist I talked to yesterday said that they were treating mom with blood thinners, which should dissolve the clots, but if surgery is required they will have to put a filter in her vena cava to try to catch additional clots.

So, bottom line is I'm trying to finish up work so I can go over and catch the doctors. I stopped on here because you guys are my family and I wanted to ask for prayers and PD. You all have been so supportive over the last few weeks, and I know I keep repeating myself but you have been true lifesavers.

I already sent PD and prayers out for June, Caroline (Dawn) and Kate, so here's some more for anyone else who needs it.

I'm so glad that the breast cancer has not metastasized! I'll keep praying that the doctor's will be able to find out what is exactly wrong with her legs. It's got to be frustrating to all of you!

Still coming down in bucketsfull... and the wind has actually picked up a bit. Bob and I just went out and bungeed all the lawn furniture together and also bungeed the trash can to a post in the yard!

The water is still slowly seeping into the patio door track, but since I know it is coming in there I am keeping on top of it.
