ok - did anyone used to watch that show My So Called Life? I did when I was a kid and was in love with Jared Leto.

I did used to quite like Hugh Grant when I was younger too.

And then Ben Affleck is quite cute...

seems I saw something familiar in DH...

The director of our retail bank is American - and she has just renamed all of our branches to be called stores... everyone assumed that they must be called that in the states but I didn't think so... to me a store is somewhere you buy your groceries... not the bank!

we have bank branches in stores but I think that american may be a little nutty.

Well guys.....I am fixin' to call it a day. I am going to head home and get the boys ready for the high school game tonight. David doesn't get off work until 7pm so he is meeting us there.

I will check back in later. Lynn

Alright, I thought I would try one of these celeb look-alikes on me.

Does anyone do the Mr. Potato head in the box.

If so I read on the budget board that they got some new pieces in.

YEAH!!! I was hoping that they would get some new ones soon. I finished off my list at the NYC WoD store so I'll have to go check out the new list.

Since I left too many of you in tears yesterday I had to find something to make you laugh.

During the Great Depression, there was a man who walked into a bar one day. He went up to the bartender and said, "Bartender, I'd like to buy the house a round of drinks."

The bartender said, "That's fine, but we're in the middle of the Depression, so I'll need to see some money first."

The guy pulled out a huge wad of bills and set them on the bar. The bartender can't believe what he's seeing. "Where did you get all that money?" asked the bartender.

"I'm a professional gambler," replied the man.

The bartender said, "There's no such thing! I mean, your odds are fifty-fifty at best, right?"

"Well, I only bet on sure things," said the guy.

"Like what?" asked the bartender.

"Well, for example, I'll bet you fifty dollars that I can bite my right eye," he said.

The bartender thought about it. "Okay," he said.

So, the guy pulled out his false right eye and bit it. "Aw, you screwed me," said the bartender, and paid the guy his $50.

"I'll give you another chance. I'll bet you another fifty dollars that I can bite my left eye," said the stranger.

The bartender thought again and said, "Well, I know you're not blind, I mean, I watched you walk in here. I'll take that bet." So, the guy pulled out his false teeth and bit his left eye.

"Aw, you screwed me again!" protested the bartender.

"That's how I win so much money, bartender. I'll just take a bottle of your best scotch in lieu of the fifty dollars," said the man.

With that, the guy went to the back room and spent the better part of the night playing cards with some of the locals. After many hours of drinking and card playing, he stumbled up to the bar. Drunk as a skunk, he said, "Bartender, I'll give you one last chance. I'll bet you five hundred dollars that I can stand on this bar on one foot and piss into that whiskey bottle on that shelf behind you without spilling a drop."

The bartender once again pondered the bet. The guy couldn't even stand up straight on two feet, much less one. "Okay, you're on," he said.

The guy climbed up on the bar, stood on one leg, and began pissing all over the place. He hit the bar, the bartender, himself, but not a drop made it into the whiskey bottle.

The bartender was ecstatic. Laughing, the bartender said, "Hey pal, you owe me five hundred dollars!"

The guy climbed down off the bar and said, "That's okay. I just bet each of the guys in the card room a thousand bucks each that I could piss all over you and the bar and still make you laugh!"

If you have any bags of potting soil around they will work, if not rolled towels will help. Hang in there!

I figure I have a resident expert giving me advice. The towels seem to be doing the trick. And I had figured that one out all by my lonesome! ;)

Hi all.
I just got off the phone with Chanon.
June I'm sorry to hear of your news.
Dear heart you are in my prayers.

DDA, I have an idea to cheer up June!

I am going to make a giant "Get Well, June!" sign. When we go to WDW in 3 weeks, I'm going to get a group photo of us holding it by the Goofy statue. If we all did that when we go, I bet she'd love it! What do you think?

John and I both sat down and prayed together last night for her. I'm crying again thinking of the struggles she faces. BUT, we all know what a fighter June is, and I am positive she will beat this monster and recover fully! DDA Prayer Warriors unite!
I  this idea Denise. This spun off into another idea in my head.

What about making a sign to have the characters hold up that says we miss you June hope you feel better soon or we'll see you soon. Or something along those lines and take a picture with lots of different characters holding the sign. Get all the pictures printed and put them into a photo album or scrapbook for her from all the different characters.

Went great. Thanks for asking. He grew 3/4" and gained 2 pounds in 3 months. He's up to 46" and 43 pounds. it was his Endocrinologist appt.

That is great news on the weight gain and growth!!

Is anybody else preparing the :boat: for the rain that is supposed to be coming this weekend?? They are calling for about 5 inches of rain on top of the 3 we got earlier this week. I feel bad for the people who are still recovering from July to be struck again by flooding it is not a good thing.

Sending :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: to everyone who needs them.

Hey gang,

Thanks, Denise, for letting me know about all that was going on. I don't have much time to catch up now, but will try to over the weekend. Needless to say, I'll spend some time on my knees today for everyone. I hope September brings much better news! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Welcome back, Lindsay! I hope your birthday was great and you had a great time.

Here's an update on my mom for those who have asked. Good and bad news, but considering June's news I guess it should all be considered good. They can tell mom has a had a recent stroke. They think it is mild, but have to do more tests. They know she now has two blood clots in her lungs, not sure if this was a low pressure or high pressure (vein vs. artery) stroke. Good news is that her breasts cancer from nine years ago has not metastasized. One of the compression fractures they found does seem to be compressing her spinal cord, and that's why they think she can't walk. Her legs aren't paralyzed -- she has some feeling, but when she tries, she can't move her upper leg to take the step. They have called in a neurosurgeon who is currently in surgery. He will look at the scans and will decide the next step. The complication is the blood clots. The pulmonary specialist I talked to yesterday said that they were treating mom with blood thinners, which should dissolve the clots, but if surgery is required they will have to put a filter in her vena cava to try to catch additional clots.

So, bottom line is I'm trying to finish up work so I can go over and catch the doctors. I stopped on here because you guys are my family and I wanted to ask for prayers and PD. You all have been so supportive over the last few weeks, and I know I keep repeating myself but you have been true lifesavers.

I already sent PD and prayers out for June, Caroline (Dawn) and Kate, so here's some more for anyone else who needs it. :grouphug:

Marci

I hope you made it over in time to catch the doctors. Good news that the cancer has not metastasized. I hope that the neurosurgeon has some good news for you and will be able to help her compression fractures and get her walking again. More :grouphug: and prayers coming your way.
