Oh, Glynis!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think you got the wierd look because she didn't know where they were!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:

Oh, I know. The best was when I had Katie ask for a G string. She was 7 and had just started playing the violin. She walked up to a clerk and asked very politely for a g-string 3/4 size. The look on the clerk's face was priceless. I was giggling in the background as he hemmed and hawed. Finally, I stepped up and said, "she wants a g string for her violin." The relief on his face was huge!

I'm so excited! Santa will be bringing it for Jacob's stocking! I already pre-ordered The Little Mermaid for Leslie. I've got Pooh's Grand Adventure: the Search for Christopher Robin for Mary, and now I've just got to find one for Katie's stocking. Any suggestions? I'm kind of leaning toward Princess Diaries 2. She has 1 and loves it, and I know that Santa is bringing her the Princess Diaries book box set. It would kind of tie it all together. But I'm open to any suggestions.

Man, I missed the milestone by 1! Good thing I've already had a milestone or it would be sad!

Congratulations, Christi!

And with that, it's time for a shower, dinner and then House with my husband who is on his way home 2 hours early! :Pinkbounc

Have fun! I love House and can't wait for the new season to start!

Katie is how old again?

My girls love PD2 but they also like Ella Enchanted and I love the book more than the Princess Diaries (PD is just a little too mature for my tastes).

Katie is 9. She already owns Ella Enchanted. I thought the movie was cute, but the book was sooooooooo much better! I just love Gail Carson Levine! Have you read "The Two Princesses of Bamarre"? It's so good! Katie and I will be reading that together after "The Witch of Blackbird Pond."

I have the 2nd of 3 open houses tonight....of course the couldn't do all 3 the same night!!
We have all the boys together one night but the teacher talk and volunteer signups are all at the same time. I just am not sure how to be in 3 places at the same time. :confused3 So I will probably shell out the $30 for a babysitter (less money for Disney :guilty: ) have DH go to one (with explicit directions on what notes to take and what to sign me up for) go to one and call the other teacher and presign up so I get the volunteer things I want and can do with Effie and have her send me any notes on things like homework etc. covered in the talk. All in all I think I would have preferred they were at dif. times if on the same night.

Something tells me Paula found a new smiley site.

I think Glynis is oblivious to everything too. :goodvibes

And this is new? I'm constantly oblivious to what's going on. I'm going to blame it on the fact that I'm on the west side of the US, so the time difference makes it more confusing. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Seriously, DH is always teasing me that I'm constantly one step behind. Oh well, there are worse things, right?

Is anyone here familiar with the "Flat Stanley" Project??

In a nut shell: (this is our letter)

Hi there!!
As part of our integrated Reading, Writing, Language, Social Studies, and Mathematics programs we have read a funny book called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The book is about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished "as flat as a pancake" when a bulletin board falls on him. Stanley is very, very flat but otherwise fine. The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers some real advantages to being flat. He can slide under doors, go down into sidewalk grates, and even fold himself up small enough to fit into an envelope and be mailed to California for an exciting vacation.
We are sending FLAT STANLEY to visit cities all over America and the WORLD. I have selected you to be FLAT STANLEY's "host family" and hope that you will send him back to me after a short visit. We would also appreciate it if you could snap a few pictures of Stanley’s visit so we can put them in our journal.
Thank you for letting my FLAT STANLEY come to visit you!

I am looking for volunteers!! Anyone willing to take on a Stanley??

We'd love to take a Stanley if you need someone from central NY.

Yes ma'am!! I think that it was one where Disney really missed the boat, book to movie wise. They needed to put the team that did Holes on it!!

We read CinderEllis and the Glass Hill....it started my obsession with Gail Carson Levine. She has one for a bit older kids (not based on any fairytale) called The Wish, very good.

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants is another good series, of course they aren't award winners :confused3 , but good discussions still came out from the compare and contrast!!

I can't help you! The only packages I've seen have had either 1 or 2.

Way to go on the self-control! I can't wait to hear what you get, though.

What is the Zizzingler code trick? We always seem to get packages with only two. I've looked at the code on the back, and all the packages seem to have the same code...of course, I'm probably looking at the wrong code!
