The Dasani Girl is headed to the beach again! New pics added

Hi Heather! Just finished reading the last of the beach TR. I'm sad that it's over! Maybe y'all will get to go back next year. We want to try and go back as well, but not sure if we'll be able to since we taking a cruise too.
Wow, I can't imagine what it must have sounded like when the lightning hit at your Mom's. Thank goodness you went inside. I hate to hear that so much stuff got hit, but at least it was stuff that can be replaced!!
I'm sorry to hear that your s-i-l isn't being very nice. It's sad that she isn't happy for you. I think you are doing the right thing by not saying anything...she will realize what a butt she is being before long. When ever you need a dose of happiness, you know you can always come here...your DIS friends are totally happy for you!
I can't believe how rude the people at your Dr's office is. I don't blame you for wanting to tell the Dr. about them. I agree that you have every reason to want to know what they are going to do at your appt. Some people!!

WOW!!! She was definitely rude to you!!!!!

At my 1st doctor's appointment I was right at 6 weeks and all they did was an exam, talked to me about pre-natal testing, did blood work, checked my vitals, and gave me a whole bunch of info to take home!! They didn't even **attempt** to hear the heartbeat with the doppler until 13 weeks!! We did get an ultrasound at 8 weeks and was able to hear the baby's heartbeat then.

Good luck, I hope they are less rude to you!! Trust me, once those pregnancy hormones kick in you WILL NOT deal with rude people very well :rotfl:

The receptionist was rude. Be sure you tell your doctor about it! I'd be really surprised if at less than 6 weeks they try to hear the heartbeat, that's very very early.

I have really enjoyed your beach report, but I have to be honest and say I'm looking forward to the baby report even more! I'm so happy for you and your Hubby.

Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy! It goes by so fast. I remember taking my pregnancy test and now my DD is 21 already! But it has been a joy. I loved being pregnant and I loved being a Mama.

i remember that when we went in for candis first appointment, the doctor listened to the heart, she said that sometimes they do not do it, but since she was so tiny that she would try, and we did hear the heart beat...so there is a good chance that she would try and listen to the heart beat...you could always ask if she does not offer to listen for it.

i say smack the receptionists :confused3 :rotfl:

I actually am in the process of changing Drs b/c of rude receptionists.

During my final appointment I told my Dr that I would not be returning...when he asked my why, I told him that I thought his office staff was horrible. Based on his expression, I wasn't the first person who told him that, yet they were still employed.:confused3

The receptionist at my OBGYN were just as rude. Thru the entire pregnancy. I got to the point where I'd try to avoid them too. We pay their salary as much as the doctor's. They must all take classes in rudeness.

Congratulations!!!!

I figured it out on Jordan's thread yesterday! I'm so happy for you!! Don't let anyone tell you that you are too young. You and Darren have a long, solid relationship and will be the best parents ever. If we were younger, we would have another baby. Definitely take Darren to the first appointment--just in case they can hear the heartbeat and so he can hear what to expect for following appointments. We also had to fill out all the financial paperwork. We had great insurance back then; DD was a $10 baby!!

Sorry about the SIL; I don't doubt for a moment that she is jealous about the attention. It's hard to say if she will come around, but my money is that she will be pregnant soon, too! I had a co-worker that just couldn't stand that four of us were pregnant at the same time, and lo and behold, here she comes up pregnant about half way through ours!

A word of advice: shea butter lotion is your friend! No stretch marks here, but my mom didn't have them either.

oh man....can you PM me your doctor's name?

I had that same problem with a PCP I had a few years ago. I really liked the doctor, and the nurses too, even the phlabotamist was amazing!....but his front office staff was HORRIBLE. They were SO RUDE to me, and they got my appointments wrong not once, but TWICE. I showed up 5 minutes before what I THOUGHT was my appointment time, and they said they marked me as a no-show b/c I was "20 minutes late" I couldn't believe it actually happened a second time. One of those times I was forced to wait 3 hours and then told that the doctors were overbooked and no one would be able to see me!!!! :furious: I had taken off work early and driven from COVINGTON, where I was working at the time, to get there!
It is ashame that I had to leave a doctor that I liked...because I ended up having a hard time finding a good doctor. I had been to 2 others since then, and finally settled on one I like (and his office staff is very nice too)
The bad staff was at Ocshner by the way!

Sorry for the hijack!

I hope you can get hold of the nurse so you can find out what they are going to be doing.

Oooh those receptionists sounds so rude, I'd tell your doctor about it at your first appointment or just change doctor's offices. Remember that at the end you're going to be dealing with these people atleast once a week and you're not gonna want to deal with rudeness from ANYONE at that point. You should be able to call and ask any questions you want, whenever you want. My OB's office has a line directly to the nurses for that reason. My OB's office was great, I had to see him weekly starting earlier than usual (at 30 weeks because my blood pressure was up) all his staff got to know me on a first name basis. After I had the baby, I actually missed going to see him every week  lol

My first real appt. was the longest one, we were there for over an hour and a half. They did a pregnancy test, weighed me, took my Blood pressure and then gave me a huge folder full of pregnancy resources. It included a list of medications I could and couldn't take, common complaints during each trimester and common solutions for them, a list of important phone numbers and what symptoms warrant a call or trip to the hospital. They also gave me a list of local pediatricians and a list of good books. Then another whole pamphlet on all the genetic testing that's available, the first one they have to do around 13 weeks so they tell you about it early enough to decide and make the appt. for it. it tests for downs syndrome I believe. I went in to the exam room and we talked to the doc, he felt around my tummy, asked me if I had any complaints or anything I was concerned about then went on to explain what happens at each appt. and at what interval he likes to see his patients. Then the doc will calculate your due date. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and again at 8 weeks since I've had past miscarriages so he had already seen my 1st US report and photos and knew at my appt. that everything was moving along like it should and I was measuring ahead of my due date so he adjusted it by a few days. He tried to hear the heart on hand held doppler but it was very faint, don't be nervous if they can't pick it up, it's very early yet. We did hear the HB at the ultrasound that I had a week before that though, it was amazing!! We heard it on doppler at my 12 wk appt. loud and clear.

Then they sent me to the on-site lab where they took 8 vials of blood! eek. It's so exciting though, it makes it seem "real". :yay:

I hope we can go back to the beach next year! It's so much fun.

I'm glad it's stuff that can be replaced too. At this very minute there's a lightning storm going on outside. It's just too hot and it makes us have thunderstorms everyday. I'm just worried about Darren having to work out in it. :sad2:
I'm glad my DIS friends are happy for me! Y'all are the best! :grouphug:

I know that 6 weeks is too early and I'll only be 5 weeks and 5 days! So if Darren takes off and goes for nothing I'm going to be so mad at that receptionist...Well, more mad lol.

The receptionist was rude. Be sure you tell your doctor about it! I'd be really surprised if at less than 6 weeks they try to hear the heartbeat, that's very very early.

I know it's too early. I really don't think she knows what she's talking about. I'm going to tell my doctor that I don't want any lab results read over the phone by receptionists. I just don't trust them at all.

Thank you!! I am enjoying it so far. I can't wait to feel the baby move! :cloud9:

i remember that when we went in for candis first appointment, the doctor listened to the heart, she said that sometimes they do not do it, but since she was so tiny that she would try, and we did hear the heart beat...so there is a good chance that she would try and listen to the heart beat...you could always ask if she does not offer to listen for it.

I'm pretty small too, so maybe she will try to hear it? :confused3 I just think it's too early though, but we'll see I guess.
I wish I could smack the receptionists! And blame it on pregnancy hormones! LOL

I actually am in the process of changing Drs b/c of rude receptionists.

My doctor is very sweet and I really think she'll do all that she can where I won't have to deal with them very much. She's just too nice that I don't want to try and find another doctor right now. I drive 20-30 minutes just to get there, so it has to be worth it!

The receptionist at my OBGYN were just as rude. Thru the entire pregnancy. I got to the point where I'd try to avoid them too. We pay their salary as much as the doctor's. They must all take classes in rudeness.

I wonder what it is about OB/GYN receptionists!! I keep hearing from everyone how rude they are. :rotfl: I wonder if it's some kind of requirement to work there? Or maybe our hormones are out of wack and we just think they're being rude??
Nah, they're really being rude. :rotfl2:

Congratulations!!!!

Thank you!! Darren has really good insurance too, so I'm hoping it won't cost us too much.

Y'all will know the minute I find out when/if my SIL gets pregnant. I just think it's coming soon!!

My mom and my grandma never had stretch marks, so I might not either. My grandma had 6 kids and didn't even know what stretch marks were! lol. I'm definitely getting some lotion though, just in case. I'll make Darren rub it on for me :)

oh man....can you PM me your doctor's name?

I remember reading about that! Stupid people. Seriously, there's no reason to be so rude. My last two appointments here didn't go so well, but it wasn't really anyone's fault. The first time I had to wait over an hour in the exam room because my doctor had to go to the hospital to deliver a baby, which is completely understandable. The last time I went she had to leave and do an emergency c-section, and it would be about 2 hours before she got back, so I left. That might annoy some people, but I'm glad she's like that. Now I'll know when I go into labor, she'll drop what she's doing to come deliver my baby!

I'll PM you her name.

Thank you so much for all the information!! I know every office is different, but it's nice to know what could be expected.
I know I will be nervous even if they can't find a heartbeat. I just pray that it shows, even a little bit!

Thanks again for all your help!! :goodvibes

Hey Heather! Aw, sorry to see the trip come to an end. I'm glad you guys had fun though, it looked like such a good time!

What's with that receptionist? I'd say something to the doctor the next time I went in there. Like everyone else said, you're going to be seeing everyone in the office a lot these next few months so you'd want to be surrounded by nice, considerate people.

Let us know how the first appointment goes, I know it's only a few days away!

I know, it's so soon and I'm nervous. I feel like I'm going to get there and she's going to tell me I'm not pregnant or something!

I'm definitely telling her about her front end staff. She's had to have gotten some complaints about them, unless they're only rude to me. It wasn't like I was calling every 5 minutes with a question, I called one time. I've never been pregnant before, of course I'll have a question or two.
I guess I shouldn't have inconvenienced her. Whatever lol.

I've decided it's time to stop being a lurker! I've been reading your trip reports for awhile now! I won't be able to keep up to date as well as everyone else, but I just wanted to let you know that I am here!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thanks for coming out to say hi and for the congrats!!! :goodvibes

Unbelievable. I was trying not to get worked up over my SIL anymore, but my brother said something today that really made me mad! Darren wants to leave right now, so I will tell you about it later. I'm just so aggravated! :headache:

 I'm so sorry that your SIL and bro are making you feel this way. Just try and focus on the good and block out the negativity.
