The Darling Family Takes on Marathon Weekend: Jan at the Boardwalk Villas

Awwwww, the kids looked like they did a great job!:goodvibes But poor Michael, he was pooped I guess! This pic really shows that!

It sounds like DTD was a hit too! Nothing wrong with doing a little shopping, right?:goodvibes Love the cute orange Tigger onesie, I have a new little nephew too born this past November.:goodvibes

Those Goofy treats look scrumptious! We did that with our girls last trip and the pictures were hilarious because they had so much trouble trying to eat it. They were huge!

I LOVE the 40th anniversay photo book. Can I ask how much it was? It's really cool!

Oh poor Micheal...He must have been hurting pretty bad to pass up spending some $$ at the Lego Store.
Those treats from Goofy's look yummy! That's definitely going on my to do list for our March trip! :goodvibes

GREAT UPDATE!!!!

I love all the purchases! My co-teacher had a baby on Dec 23, 2009 and I got her a similar outfit but it had minnie on it and I got the Minnie socks so you have too taste too!

I love the 40 year photo book...Is it an album or scrapbook????

I'd like to have it but I've pretty much given up on scrapbooking since I don't have summers off anymore but I do put photos in an album!

Can't wait to see what you guys decide to do for the rest of the night!

I have never tried the make your own treats at Goofy's....thats on the to do list for next time!

Your TR just reminded me, I never purchased a 2010 frame...:headache: Whoops!!

I hope your birthday evening ended up going good :goodvibes
You need to try those Goofy treats! They are soooo good (though I wish they still had caramel topping.) If you really wanted a 2010 frame you could find one on ebay or maybe at laughingplace.com.

Mmmmm, I love Goofy's! Last time I got an apple covered with stuff and I could barely find the apple under all the goodies! I paid for it dearly (since I don't normally eat that kind of stuff) but it was WELL worth it!

Poor Michael! I hope he felt better for dinner!
Goofy's is the place! Someday I'm going to try one of those apples!

Michael was definitely pooped out! I've never seen him so tired. DTD was a bit more of a hit than I was planning on. Spent a little much:rolleyes1 I can't remember for sure, but I think the anniversiary book was around $16.

You definitely need to put Goofy's on your to do list. No trip to DTD is complete without it!

Those socks are just adorable aren't they? The photo book is an album. They had scrapbooks too, but I'm like you. I just put photos in an album. Any scrapbooking I do is digital these days.

The 3 kids all do so well!!!:woohoo: Poor Michael! Now that he's all recovered is he happy he was faster than his older siblings? My youngest would LOVE that.

Cars 2. Can't wait!
Michael is pretty proud of himself for outrunning his big brother and sister! And Car 2:banana: That will be a must see.

Last night Mama came over and I had the laptop out catching up on trip reports. I looked to see if you had any updates and Mama happened to catch a glimpse of Michael. She immediately chuckled and then felt bad that she had. I told her it was okay because even you had laughed at him and you are his mother.:rotfl:

Aww poor Michael, he must have really been feeling it to not want to go to the lego store.

I love the tigger onesie, it is too cute!!

Can't wait to hear where you guys were headed to for the evening:goodvibes

I love the make your own treats at Goofy's. I had the pretzels on my last night at the World. I'm sad that they got rid of the peanutbutter cup option - that had been my fav. I got butterfinger instead but it just wasn't the same.

We're definitely going to try Goofy's Candy Co. Looks great.

I'm so impressed with your kids! Those are great times. Poor Michael, though!

Oh my, I'm so late...going back to read and catch up!

Yay to the kids for earning their medals! :cheer2: Even if Michael's did come with some hardship. I'm worried about doing exactly what he did during the W&D half--not pacing properly and losing steam halfway through! Love all your DTD purchases!

Looks like a successful trip to DTD, wonderful goodies you bought and those treats look delish :goodvibes

Poor Michael, bless him he must have really been feeling the race

Love all of the goodies you bought! And the treats look delicious! We have never even walked in that store before. Maybe next trip.

I know exactly how your Mama felt. It really shouldn't be so funny, but it just is! Even Michael laughs at those pictures now:goodvibes

Hopefully my evening update will be up very shortly!

It is sad that they have limited the options a bit. I really miss the caramel topping.:sad2:

Goofy's Candy is a must do! They have lots of yummy stuff. Candy, of course, but also yummy cookies too! I was really proud of the kids too!

You really aren't that late. There is still lots of reporting to be done!

Starting out too fast is something to really watch out for. Races are so much more pleasant if you don't feel like you are going to die halfway through. Just don't get caught up too much with the race excitement and pay close attention to your pace for those first few miles and you'll be fine!

Looks like a successful trip to DTD, wonderful goodies you bought and those treats look delish :goodvibes

Goofy's is always delish! Michael was in pretty poor shape, but it made a great story for the trip report:laughing:

Love all of the goodies you bought! And the treats look delicious! We have never even walked in that store before. Maybe next trip.
You have never even walked into Goofys:scared1: That is something you definitely need to remedy!

When we arrived back at the room Michael was snoozing and had been for a couple of hours. Poor DH had missed out on our yummy lunch and instead they had eaten frozen chicken nuggets they picked up at the store on the Boardwalk. Michael had been sleeping for two hours so I was hopeful he would be recovered enough to head out for the evening. He woke up shortly and he was ready to go.:woohoo: So we headed out to the Magic Kingdom bus for the 2nd time this day. Here is DH and Wendy. Notice Wendy’s medal. (And Stefy I’m sure you’ll notice DH’s jacket.;))

Before we knew it we’d arrived at the gates. Happy day because all the Christmas decorations were still out.:cool1: Had to stop for a family shot in front of the Poinsetta Mickey. (Though I wish we weren’t covering it up.)

Notice only Wendy wore her medal this night. The boys wanted to pin trade. That is something they never seem to get tired of. We headed onto Main Street where we were greeted by this lovely tree.

disneyday1076.jpg

As we were walking by I noticed that Pluto was out in front of the tree. I was feeling badly for Michael because he’d missed Downtown Disney so I asked him if he wanted to say hello to his good buddy. He said yes. Everyone else said, “We already met him this morning.” They then proceeded to find a bench to sit on while we waited in line. It didn’t take too long before Michael was greeting his old pal.

Notice the rest of the Darling Family in the background. They moved over there to be able to see the Celebrate Parade better. After our Meet ‘n Greet we headed up Main Street. The parade had just ended so we found a Photopass person to take a Main Street picture.

Check out all the garlands. Kind of fun though they do block the castle. So for dinner we headed to my favorite place to eat in the Magic Kingdom. The Plaza. It is simple, but yummy.:thumbsup2 Plus if you are lucky you get a great view of the castle. We didn’t have to wait long to get seated. I ordered the tried and true. The Cheesesteak. Here is a shot from last summer. It was still the same, but I didn’t get the fries. (I was trying to avoid fried food because of that pesky race coming up.:rolleyes1)

Michael wanted to show me his PB&J. No crusts in the shape of Mickey. Perfect.

disneyday1080.jpg

We ordered the kids some of the glow things which they loved.

disneyday1084.jpg

The boys thought Wendy’s looked so cute in her hair that I needed some in my hair.

disneyday1083.jpg

Nice, huh? Shortly after this our lovely server brought out my cupcake and announced to the entire place that it was my birthday. Then what happened? The entire restaurant sang me “Happy Birthday.” It was perfect. There I was in my favorite restaurant in my favorite place with my favorite people and everyone was singing just to me. Fabulous moment. (I was really glad I’d taken out the Buzz Lightyear glow things.) After they were all done, I thanked them and blew out my candle. I don’t even remember making a wish this time. I felt like they had all come true.:cloud9:

disneyday1088.jpg

To top it off right after I blew out my candle a little boy that was leaving the restaurant yelled out to me, “Happy Birthday, Jenny.” A happy birthday it definitely was.

So the after dinner plans originally included staying for Wishes, but we were all pretty tired. Plus I was still worried about getting plenty of rest for the upcoming race. The most important night of rest before a big race is 2 nights before. In addition DH had a 3:00 am wake up call coming. So we decided we’d do one attraction and then head back. We debated between Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates and maybe a few more. The final winner was the Laugh Floor. My kids hadn’t been on this for quite a while and I thought they would really enjoy it. I was also secretly hoping DH would be “that guy.” So we made it just in time for the last show of the evening. DH wasn’t “that guy” but we all had a good time anyway. The boys especially found it hilarious and did their part to fill up the canister. After the show was over I contemplated sending everyone back and just staying for Wishes myself. But it was cold and I didn’t feel like standing around in the cold. So we headed out. Here is a shot of the lovely Christmas tree at night.

disneyday1089.jpg

We made it back and settled into our beds. Tomorrow was a big day for DH. He was running the half marathon.

So glad Michael was feeling better! :goodvibes

Liz had mentioned you recommended the cheesesteak at The Plaza. :rolleyes1

Just discovered your trip report (I'm a little slow!). Glad Michael felt well enough to have some fun.

Amanda
