The Darling Family Takes on Marathon Weekend: Jan at the Boardwalk Villas

Had to go back to catch up and wow, that is really cool about the pictures/art in Minnie's house and how they are based off of real pieces! That really makes you appreciate all the details they put into the parks. So sad Toontown is gone now. :sad2:

Sad about leaving the MK but it looks like you were able to find some more fun back at the community hall. The buttons are cute!

Thank you for the art history lesson! Too bad I won't get to go check it out now. :sad1:
I don't have many memories of Toontown so I don't share the same sorrow about the closure but I can imagine how you feel.

Amanda

I love that you took a final shot as you left MK! It always makes me sad to leave...I want to just soak it all up!!

How cute are those buttons...they did a great job!! Can't wait to hear where you guys are headed for dinner:woohoo:

Ah the last shot of MK, so hard to leave but like you say it has to come to an end at some point.

Great purchases, really cute tee Wendy picked out. Great job on the pins too, cute Stitchy one :)

The art in Minnie's house was fun! I'm glad I noticed it before it was gone.

I'm sad about Minnie's house being gone, but I'm excited to see the new changes. I'm betting it will be fabulous!

That final walk out of MK always gets me! Luckily I know I will be back. If I truly thought it was the final time I would probably lose it!

I like Wendy's shirt and it got you a little more time in the MK.
Anything for more time in the MK, right?

Wendy has a definite sense of style. She didn't get that from her mother or her father:laughing:

Yay! All caught up again!:thumbsup2

Loved all your pictures in Toontown!!!:goodvibes

I'm glad Wendy liked HM. I'm hoping I can get both my boys to ride it with me next trip too!!:rolleyes1

Leaving MK is so sad!!:sad2:

I love my four parks one world cd!!:thumbsup2 Although, I think I may have worn out the Soarin' music since I seem to play it all the time.:rotfl: Great purchase!!;)

Y'know, I keep putting off checking your thread each day, later and later. I think I just don't want it to end and I know it's coming...I think that somewhere in my brain if I keep procrastinating, it won't end!

So many great updates :thumbsup2

I loved all the pics of Minnie's house - we didn't tour it, for some reason we only toured Mickey's so I'm making do with your virtual tour (including the art history lesson!).

Great fun that whenever you ran into Donald he was only interested in DH because of his medal :)

Oh, and Wendy's new shirt is very cute :cutie:

I'm guessing dinner is somewhere in Epcot but I can't narrow it down any more than that

I hope you can get your boys on HM next time too. I bet they will be up to it! I do love my CD. The section I seem to listen to over and over is the MK part with the opening show and the Main Street song. Love it!

My thread is definitely heading towards the end. Kind of sad, but after I finish it up I can start focusing on my summer trip to Disneyland:goodvibes

I'm glad I could provide you with the virtual tour of Minnie's. Donald was so funny on our MK day! I guess he never tires of seeing his medal! You guessed right about dinner. Back to Epcot we went!

It should come as a surprise to no one that we headed out for dinner in the World Showcase. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We love the location of the Epcot resorts and one of the main reasons is the proximity of the World Showcase Restaurants.:cool1: Dinner tonight was in the UK. We were a tad bit early so we headed into say hello to some old friends. Here they are.

The boys settled in for some Duffy coloring (of course) and I decided to do some shopping. Apparently we like England because there were several unplanned purchases made this evening. The first purchase was completely planned. I had to make a stop for my favorite English biscuit. I bought 4 packs of Hob Nobs. :goodvibes

These are long gone now. I loved them while they lasted and I didn’t do a very good job of sharing. While I was browsing I saw these adorable mugs.

I had to get them because they matched another mug I already had back home. Here is the complete collection.

Now if only they had an Alice and Wonderland mug. Then I would really feel like I had a complete collection. I was not the only one making impulse buys. DH and Michael decided they wanted this.

Stefy will know what that is. For all of you Americans, the Arsenal Gunners are an English soccer team. My DH has an unexplainable obsession with English soccer. I’m not quite sure how it came about because I know no one else on this side of the pond who knows much of anything about English soccer.:confused3 After our impulse buys we headed over to Rose and Crown for dinner. I don’t have any pictures of dinner here. Wendy and I ate here a few years ago and really enjoyed it. This night it was fine, but nothing spectacular. Maybe it’s because they had a plastic tarp up around the deck.:rolleyes1 Kind of ruined the ambience, but it kept us from freezing. The initial plan had been to stay and watch Illuminations this evening, but once again no one was really feeling it. It was just too cold. In fact we didn’t watch a single nighttime show this entire trip. It just isn’t as magical if you’re freezing. I definitely prefer the nighttime shows in the summer. Anyway we headed back to the hotel and settled down for our last night in our spacious Boardwalk villa. Tomorrow was departure day.:sad2:

Never heard of Hob Nobs, what are they??? Love the mugs, I've seen them before and considered them, but they aren't massive enough...I use a HUGE mug from Disney that I searched and searched for on our first trip. Gotta fill that puppy up twice with coffee, at least, each morning!

Yay for spending the evening in Epcot :) Loving the purchases, esp the Hobb Nobs. We bought some for the office the other day, plain oat ones :teeth:

I wondered if your DH would get something from the sports store and great choice too. Bet he was bummed with Saturday's results :(

I LOVE Hobnobs:lovestruc:love: my parents are scottish so whenever someone comes for a visit, we send a list of all our favorites to bring!! Flake bars are my absolute favorite!!!

I love those mugs and seeing your collection I'm now kicking myself I didn't go back and buy the Mary Poppins one...I kept looking at it in every store we were in...you'd think after all these trips I would know if something keeps calling to me buy it!!:rotfl2:

I just got an email offer from my Disney Visa Rewards card that if you register before April 24, 2011 for next year's Marathon, you can save $30 off the full marathon and $15 off the half marathon -- Just wanted to be sure you all knew about this! :yay::cheer2:

If DH wants to talk English "football" he can come to my house. Our DVR is full of EPL games!

We've had trips where it was too cold for the nighttime shows. I agree that it's not worth shivering through!

Last nights are bittersweet. Glad you got to enjoy Epcot one more time.

Are you not able to get hob nobs at home? We have them at our grocery store. I'll have to give them a try one of these days.

I'm sorry your trip (report) is almost over. I know how much you love doing them! Will you do a ptr for Disneyland?

Hey did you see there's a marathon relay next year? I'm interested in it.

HI! Those mugs are so cute! Love the Mary Poppins one the best. We have eaten at the Rose and Crown before and it was good. The pics with Pooh and Tigger are cute.

I will always miss Minnie’s house just as I will always miss that little girl.

OMG! This almost made me cry because I know exactly how you feel! :sad1:

My son is 10 now and he still is my baby but he is growing into a young man now and it makes me sad for the days when he was just a little guy! :confused3

Hob Nobs are these oatmeal cookie things. (Cookies are biscuits in England.) My favorite are the ones that are covered in milk chocolate on one side. I discovered them when I was on a Study Abroad in London my sophomore year of college. My DH doesn't get my attachment so maybe they really aren't that great. I just associate them with a great time in life.

DH was bummed on Saturday. He moped for the rest of the afternoon. (The game was over at 2:00 pm here.)

Oh I wish I had relatives to bring me Hob Nobs! And I bet those mugs are still around your next trip. Just make sure to pick one up then!

Thanks for the heads up. DH and I are planning on doing the half together so I will make sure to register before April 24. I must say I think the Disney halfs are getting to be overpriced. I guess they can get away with it because they fill up. 2012 may be our last year for a while though. Are you registering for anything?
