The Darling Family Takes on Marathon Weekend: Jan at the Boardwalk Villas

Hi! Great pics of everyone with Mickey and their medals. We ate the Coral Reef once and it was good. I believe there were 7 of us so we were not seated by the tank either. We had an early adr so the kids could gl up to the tank before the tables there were seated. Great pics while walking to Epcot:thumbsup2

Oh, poor Michael! I think he used up all his trip energy for his race and now there just wasn't anything left to give!

Great update! We really enjoyed Coral Reef last trip, our table was one back from the tank (the booths that face the aquarium). Wendy got a nice food pic too!:thumbsup2 The chocolate wave was scrumptious! Did you try it?

Loved all of the pics with you guys and Mickey! They all came out so nice.:goodvibes

Aww bless Michael he really wasn't in the walking mood.

We found Coral Reef so so last year, which was a shame because we really enjoyed it the first time we went.

Have you seen the new menu for Le Cellier, it looks sooooo good!

Great PP photos :thumbsup2

Loved all your pictures in AK!:thumbsup2 We've never seen the Flights of Wonder show...hmm...we may have to check it out. Glad you enjoyed Flame Tree BBQ. We really liked the food there too! We are hoping to try the Winter Summerland course next trip. My boys love miniature golf. Great PP pics with Mickey.:goodvibes

Awww I used to pull that routine with my parents when I was younger and they would just pretend to leave me behind and that got me moving :lmao:

I love the poses Mickey did with you and DH!! too cute!

I am finally caught up:) Wow so much has happened since I last read. The surrey bike looks like so much fun!
We did miniature golf once...we had a blast playing, but not sure if we would do it again I believe at the time it was a free round when you had a package!
I ran the Princess 1/2 this past weekend and it was an amazing experience. Not sure if I am ready to tackle a marathon, but there is something about running through the Magic Kingdom that can not be beat:goodvibes

Oh my goodness, poor Michael. He's having to walk again? Why oh why are you making him walk?

Too bad you guys weren't seated closer to the tank at Coral Reef. We have been seated up near the top of the restaurant each time we have been there and I didn't think it was too bad....but it definitely could have been better.

The boys must have been pooped to have gone to sleep before desserts came. At least they were well rested when it came time to meet the Big Cheese himself.:thumbsup2
We are such tough parents expecting our children to actually walk:scared1: I think the problem with the Coral Reef was that we had such a great seat the first time we went that the only way we had to go was down. If you ever get lucky enough to sit by the aquarium you'll see what I mean.

Nice update! We're eating at CR in a few weeks so we'll see how it goes for us! My brother and I went in Aug and we sat on the very top which we've never gotten before and it was nice but you're right, right by the glass is hard to beat!
I hope the CR is great for you and you get right next to the tank. It makes for a great experience! (As you probably know.)

I didn't send the kids up to the tank. It was pretty busy, plus they didn't seem to have much interest. We were also the farthest table over on the far side so that made the view not as good as well. We will still probably go back at some point, just not right away.

I'm not kidding when I say I think it took Michael longer to recover from his Mickey Mile than it did for me to recover from my marathon! He really did push himself too hard that day. The Mickey pictures did come out cute.

Coral Reef must be one of those hit and miss places. I haven't seen the new menu for Le Cellier. I need to check it out. It's DH's favorite place so we will probably try to hit it next January.

The Flights of Wonder is definitely worth doing! I think the Winter Summerland is the course to try. The pictures I've seen of it look really cute.

Yes I think Michael's routine is not very original! The problem with Michael is he thinks he's smarter than us so he doesn't mind getting left behind. He is confident he can figure out where he needs to get to all on his own. (We've actually lost him a time or two because of this.);)

The picture of the boys sleeping is too cute. It's hard work to have so much fun!
They were definitely tuckered out!

The surrey bike and miniature golf were both really fun! I like doing those fun things outside the parks during our down time. Congrats on your half marathon! That looks like it was a great race! I'm sticking with halfs for a while as well. The full marathon is a whole different beast!

After our extensive photo shoot with Mickey we met up with his best friend.

There was quite a back up once we got to Minnie. There were several South American groups (not the giant ones, just family groups) ahead of us. It appears Minnie is big down there! The men especially all wanted a picture cuddled up with Minnie. It was really cracking me up. We eventually got to meet her.

She loved my medal so much she gave it a kiss.

Next up was Donald.

Donald definitely preferred DH to me this evening. In fact he really wanted nothing to do with me.

Last up was Goofy.

We needed one last picture before we headed back. We still hadn’t gotten a family picture in front of the ball. Even though we’d been to Epcot nearly every day we’d never been up to the main entrance. So we found a Photopass guy.

Photo0315FourBySix.jpg

After this the boys wanted to ride Mission Space and Wendy wanted Test Track. So I took the boys and DH took Wendy. We made it to Mars and then headed back for the Boardwalk. Illuminations was starting as we walked through the World Showcase. I would have loved to stop and watch it, but the boys were a bit chilly and didn’t want to. So I just enjoyed it from afar. We saw some of the high fireworks from the bridge on the Boardwalk and soon we were back in our room, tucked in our beds and looking forward to our last full day at Disney World.

Love the update, the character pictures are priceless:goodvibes

That's too bad that Coral Reef was a disappointment, it really seems to be a hit or miss type of restaurant.

Love the photopass pic in front the ball!

I've been thinking about trying mini-golf at Disney. I appreciate your thoughts! Maybe we'll try the other course at some point....
Love the character pics! So great!
Sorry Coral Reef wasn't better. That's another place we haven't tried yet. Interesting that a family of 5 won't be near the fishies....

Amanda

Hi! The character pics are lovely. We will have to put that character spot on our list next trip. We also left before illuminations last time. Great pic in front of the ball.

Ohhhh that last picture is my FAVORITE!!! Everyone looks great....and I love nighttime shots!!!

Too bad about Coral Reef...but I do have to agree with you, the closer you are to the tank the better!

We love the character connections. It's so great to only have to wait in one line and get all of the Big 5!

Mini Golf wasn't bad. It just wasn't anything special. We got such a great deal though that I didn't mind. You should try Coral Reef at least once. It really is unique.

This is our favorite character spot. The line is inside (read air conditioned in the summer) and their are cartoons playing to entertain the kids. Similar to Mickey in Toontown except you get to meet all 5 instead of just Mickey and Minnie.

Another great update!!! Looks like a great character meet! Was the wait really long????
I think the wait was maybe 10 minutes. Not bad at all.

I love the Epcot ball at night too. It makes such a cool picture. I think the reason Coral Reef didn't seem as good is because we got spoiled by being right next to the tank last time.

Our last full Disney Day began bright and early. We caught an early bus to the Magic Kingdom and by 8:30 we were on Main Street USA. First on the agenda, of course, was the photo session. Here is what we got.

Then we headed over to breakfast at Crystal Palace. I can’t seem to stay away from Crystal Palace breakfast. In my initial planning for this trip I scheduled a CP lunch because I decided we should try something different. Then as the trip got closer I kept thinking about how much I love strolling up Main Street before park opening and enjoying the breakfast buffet. So I changed to a breakfast ADR. By that point I couldn’t get the 8:05 reservation, so I settled for a later one. As I was waiting for our name to be called I snapped this picture. They are taking down the Castle lights.

We were seated almost right away and before we could even get our food we had a couple of visitors.

Then we went up to the buffet and loaded up. I like this buffet. The food is fresh and they have good choices. Michael loves it because they have fresh raspberries which is his absolute favorite food in the whole world. John, on the other hand, filled his plate up with donut holes. We soon had a couple more friends stop by.

They had the parade at some point during the breakfast. Anyway we finished around 9:30 and headed out into the already opened park. DH was just itching to get fast passes. I don’t think it even mattered what they were for, he just needed his fast passes. So we sent him and Wendy off to Thunder Mountain to get them while the boys and I took a leisurely stroll through the castle. I snapped these pictures of the cute capitals.

Gotta love those Disney details.:goodvibes Then the boys spotted the sword. Now those of you that have followed my past trip reports know that Michael has some luck with the sword. He’s pulled it out twice. Here are the flashback photos.

John has never been lucky enough to pull it out. So of course both boys wanted to give it a try. Here is John.

No luck again. Next was Michael’s turn. Would he do it again? Could he possibly pull out the sword three trips in a row?popcorn::

I love CP breakfast too. We eat breakfast there at least once per trip. Then I sometimes also eat lunch or dinner there but not often. I enjoy both lunch & dinner but can't give up breakfast. Occasionally we'll have a late breakfast if we want to have breakfast on an EMH morning but I have to say I don't like this as much. I find if you don't have an early sitting you have to wait to get seated and then often have to wait to see all the characters.

Hey there! I haven't read a thing yet, but I saw "Darling family" and had to hop aboard. I remember "when are the parents showing up" and how I laughed myself silly. So here I am again! Can't wait to get started, and, since I should be doing laundry right now... I'll get starting reading the TR right away! :rotfl2: -stace

nice update again!!!

I ate at CP for dinner (first time every) and we though it was okay. Our table faced the castle which was awesome and the characters were good too. Most of them came back twice even. The food was eh. Our salads that we made were good and a few other things but my friend and I agreed that CM was better as far as food but the restaurant overall wasn't bad but I'd like to try the breakfast sometime!
