The Darling Family June 2010 Trip Report: When are the Parents Showing Up?11/5 New TR

So glad to hear a good time was had on the high seas! My kids haven't tried any of the cruises yet...may be just the thing we are looking for on our next trip without extended family to help look after the kids!;) It is nice to get some downtime to shop or relax poolside without having to constantly keep the kids in sight.

As for lunch, I'll bet my bottom dollar it was Beaches N Cream.:)

Sounds like they had a whale of a time judging by the big grins on their faces pirate:

Sounds like a perfect excursion for little boys! :goodvibes

Pleeeeaaaase say you ate at Beaches & Cream! Onion rings...mmmm.... :yay:
OK I'll say we ate at Beaches & Cream:goodvibes

Your new home looks great!!!
It's great to hear about what happened on the pirate cruise! :lmao:

Amanda
I'm glad to give you a pirate cruise report since other sources weren't as forthcoming;)

I'm thinking Beaches and Cream, as well. The pirate cruise looks absolutely fun! They seemed so happy--and I guess they should have. About how long was the cruise?
The cruise goes from 9:30 to 11:30 am. They had a great time!

The cruise was great for the boys and for Wendy and I. The boys loved it and so did Wendy:laughing: And looks like you are keeping your bottom dollar:goodvibes

A whale of a time:lmao: Aren't you a clever one?

It was lunchtime and we had a myriad of choices. We could eat at any of the Counter Service places in the World Showcase or at the Epcot area resorts, but I had something else in mind. I wanted to finally try out the famous Beaches ‘n Cream so we headed over there. (So many of you guessed right. I must be predictable:goodvibes) It was still pretty early for lunch (around 11:30) so we were seated immediately. I was quite surprised at how small this place was. I’d read it was small on the DIS, but it was still smaller than I anticipated. Here is a shot of almost the entire restaurant. You can tell there was still plenty of seating.

Maybe there were a few more tables, but not many. I can definitely see why this place develops long waits. Anyway the kids just wanted ice cream, but I wanted to try out one of the famous hamburgers. We placed our order and the boys showed off their pirate loot while we waited.

Our food didn’t take too long to arrive. Here is Michael enjoying his sundae.

We all enjoyed our lunch. The hamburger was quite good. Probably the best I’ve had on Disney property (though still not as good as Five Guys;)) Anyway we all enjoyed lunch. This is a place worth returning to. After lunch was over I had a specific mission in mind. I had to head over to England to buy myself my favorite English biscuits: Hob Nobs. I lived in London for 6 months in college and fell in love with these cookies. So I don’t like to leave Disney without picking up a canister or three. So we headed over to the World Showcase. By this point in the trip Michael was getting pretty worn out and would at times refuse to walk any further. (If you remember, it had been the worst at Animal Kingdom the day before.) We had a late night planned for this evening so I decided we’d rent a stroller for the day knowing I could use it in more than one park. So we rented a stroller at the international gateway. Michael happily hopped in and John pushed him over to England.

Our Mission was quickly accomplished. Here are my Hob Nobs (and I didn’t share very many of them.):rotfl:

After picking up my Hob Nobs (which by the way didn’t handle the heat too well), I decided I wanted to head over to the toy shoppe to visit some characters. Once there we discovered Pooh and Tigger would be out shortly. We admired the stuffies as we waited. Aren't they adorable?:cutie:

Eeyore is almost as big as Michael:laughing:

After waiting a few minutes we saw our Hundred Acre Woods pals appeared.

Stay tuned for the actual Meet ‘n Greet.popcorn::

It sure looks like your boys had a great time on the pirate cruise. And, you and Wendy, were able to do a little tour of your own. The room(s) look gorgeous.

Glad you got your Hob Nobs, they are yummy aren't they :teeth:

Looking forward to reading about your Pooh Bear interaction :goodvibes

Love all the pictures of the Boardwalk Villas!!:goodvibes So pretty....although the clown pool does freak me out a little.

I'm so glad that the boys enjoyed their pirate cruise! Hmm...another thing I may have to add to our list when we go back!:thumbsup2

Sounds like you had a nice lunch at Beaches 'n Cream!! Yum! Glad you got your Hob Nobs! Yay for Pooh and friends!! Can't wait to hear about the meet and greet!!

Aww, glad everyone loved Beaches and Cream! Those stuffed animals are adorable-- there is something so cuddly about Pooh + Friends.
My dad is from Ireland, so growing up, we'd always go over there and have the delicious candy and cookies. Cadbury makes this "finger" things. Some kind of graham covered in chocolate-- HEAVEN!

It was a fun morning for the boys and the gals:goodvibes

I love me some Hob Nobs! It's probably a good thing I don't live on your side of the pond. I'd eat way too many of them.

We're really excited to stay in the BWV. There is always something to add to our Disney lists. The more excuses to go back the better, right:goodvibes

Cadbury chocolate:love: They have so many great candies. Over here we only get the eggs at Easter time. I wish they imported more.

Once it was our turn we all had a great time with the Hundred Acre Woods Gang. These are the only character pictures with all 4 of us from the trip. We all happily said hello.

After our quick Epcot visit we decided to head back to the resort. We were planning on swimming. This was our last day on Disney property and we felt like something a little different. One of the perks to being DVC members is pool hopping privileges. We decided to take advantage of that. I’d heard that CBR resort pool was nice and figured we might as well stick with the pirate theme. So after stopping at OKW to change into our suits we headed over to CBR. We had a fabulous afternoon at the pool.:cool1: The pool itself is really well themed.

cbrpool2.jpg

The slide is fun and the boys spent at least an hour playing pool games with the lifeguards. Plus they have a great kid’s splash area we spent some time at.

CBRsplash.jpg

We really enjoyed our afternoon there. After about 3 hours the kids were getting hungry so we headed into their CS place

CBRfoodcourt.jpg

We bought some ice cream treats which we ate at an outside table.

It was our first time at CBR and we were really impressed. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there. Unfortunately they can’t accommodate a family of 5 unless we get two rooms, so I don’t see us staying there anytime soon. Anyway eventually we headed back to Old Key West to change and get ready for our last night in Disney. Would it be a good one?

So glad you enjoyed Beaches & Cream! It is so tiny in there, isn't it?

I've never tried the Hob Nobs, but they sound good.

Love the pics from the Pooh gang meet'n'greet. Your kids are so lovey! :lovestruc

Love all your pictures! That room at the Boardwalk looks great. Hope the Disney folks don't read your TR, or a CM may not get paid for watching the game.:rolleyes1 That's how I would like to tour a room though, without anyone watching me.

Beaches N Cream is something else we need to try sometime. And it looked like the boys had a great time on the pirate cruise. Their loot looked better than what my DS got, guess they were better pirates.

What are those Hobnobs like? I may have to try them some time.

Your getting to your last night? Oh, my! Beaches and Cream looks wonderful. I've been thinking about eating there my first day at Disney in December. I just may skip on 50s Prime Time Cafe and go with Beaches and Cream!

I love Pooh and the gang, but we usually stick with them at Crystal Palace. We do like to see them from time to time in the UK and I think I will in December. I love Tigger and Piglet. But have you noticed it's usually hard to find Piglet outside of CP?

Aww, I love Michael high fiving Pooh! Too cute.
Wow, I never realized what CBR's pool looked like! Looks like heaven for little kids!

Wow! The pool at CBR looks great!!!! That's fun that you got to pool hop.
We love the burgers at Beaches & Cream also.

I am dying to go to Beaches & Cream to get one of those fancy huge sundaes. But considering my next trip will be solo, it seems kinda dangerous!

(And yum, Five Guys. Now I want them for dinner.)

Love the character pics! I had no idea that Pooh & Co. now hung out in the toy shop, until I ran into them randomly on my last trip. It was a fun surprise!

I really was suprised how small Beaches & Cream is. It feels quaint, but that is why it gets so crowded. My kids really do love their characters. I hope that sticks.

:rotfl: about the CM watching the game. I think he's pretty safe. I doubt the Disney folks are spending their time perusing my trip report. I guess it was a good day for treasure hunting:goodvibes The Hobnobs are an oatmeal based cookie with milk chocolate coating on one side. I love them, but my DH thinks they aren't all that. So who knows if you'd like them. I guess you have to try them for yourself.

Don't worry about the last night thing. It's the last night at Disney World. After that we spend a couple of nights at Universal and then a day at the beach on the way home. So there is still plenty of trip report ahead:rolleyes: I've never met Piglet anywhere by CP. I don't think he does Meet 'n Greets in the park.

Aww, I love Michael high fiving Pooh! Too cute.

It was fun to visit a different resort. Those burgers were tasty!

I didn't try a big sundae either. That will have to wait until DH is with me to help out. So 5 Guys has made it to Manhattan. I remember when there were hardly any around here. We had to go down to DC or Northern VA. Now they are everywhere! Not complaining about that. I love it!

We were headed to the Magic Kingdom for an evening of Summer Nightastic. I decided to take the bus and it wasn’t long before we were through the gates and posing once again for Photopass.

We walked onto Main Street a bit after 6:00 and were greeted with the Celebrate Parade. We’d never taken the time to watch this before so found ourselves a spot and enjoyed the short parade.

After these pictures John started hankering to head to Thunder Mountain. It was late in the day and the park was pretty crowded so I was skeptical about the likelihood of riding it this evening, but I told John we’d at least go check it out. We headed over the bridge into Liberty Square when potential disaster struck. . . (And I don’t think any of you will guess what the disaster was.):rolleyes1
