The Danger of DVC discounts on AP & PAP

At first I was overjoyed by the prospect of DVC finally getting discounts on AP & PAP. Then I did some fantasizing in my head of future trips and I realized THIS IS A DIABOLICAL PLAN BY DISNEY!!!! They know that I'm weak and once I have a discounted AP I'll be back more & more and longer & longer. Very soon I'll need more and more points. One add on will lead to another and another and another. Oh your clever Disney suck me in with discounted rates on AP/PAP and soon I'll be tens of thousands in the hole with multi contracts. Curse you and your evil genius.:p

I got sucked in by AP's years ago! We bought our first ones in October 1998, thinking we would go then and go again a week earlier in October 1999. Then I got the brainstorm of wanting to see WDW at Christmastime, so we also went in Dec 1998. We loved it so much that we've gone in December the past 6 years. Then in March 1999 some friends wanted to go, so I went again. Ended up being 4 trips instead of 2! Which led to the purchase of DVC in September 1999. Yup, those AP's really saved me money ;) :p !

Oh, no! You figured out their evil plan! Actually I think that they have pretty good control over many of our minds and money. And for those of us already sucked into buying AP's this actually would save us some money for a change. :)

I am glad that so many, like me, would "vote" for a discount on AP's particularly. We'll keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

We were totally sucked in until they changed their renewal policy for the AP's & took away the Magic Kingdom Club discount AND raised the prices! I'm sorry to say we don't have an AP anymore :( We do still go down a few (okay three) times a year & have a Seaworld & Busch Gardens AP & we do golf around Disney, oh & we pool hop & boat too....

Hey Disney, I'm your target audience!! Give me a discount!!! :teeth: Do ya think they'll get the picture???

Yep, we're "saving" so much with our passes we're about to go broke ;)

We decided to buy them during our April trip (CRO 2bdrm BCV (ouch!)) and then return the next year one week earlier. The thing is, once you have them you're looking for a reason (ANY REASON) to use them again. So now, of course, we'll be going in early December to see the decorations and do MVMCP and now that we're going "all" the time we've had to join DVC with 500 points at BCV and now that we've joined DVC we'll have to try out VB for the Dodgers spring training and if we do that we'll have to hit HHI next August and since we havn't stayed at VWL we'll have to find a way to do that for December 2005 and then...and then...and...uh... :faint:

Has anyone heard of a 12 step program for passholders?

Yep, I know the feeling! We bought our first AP's with the plan of using it twice for the year; just going a week earlier the next year. Yeah, right. I'm already booked to go back in August. Hey, I have an AP!!!! And it doesn't help (my wallet that is) that I bought DVC this year!More ways and reasons to go to WDW!! Yea!!! I'd love a discount on a renewal AP, that'd be awesome!

Yes, I know the feeling.

I can "get" DH to make multiple trips if we have an AP. At least it worked the first time we bought them. I'm planning on getting them again in Oct.

One of the challenges is making the points stretch!! :hyper:

Now we buy AP's every other year. If we get a decent DVC discount, I have no doubt that the amount of time between the two AP's will get shorter. IMHO Disney will make more money from their loyal following of DVCers by going to a good discount of AP's. It makes economic sense. You charge less and make more in the long run.

I'm on the every other year for PAP's plan. We usually get three or four trips in for each pass. With no incentive or "real" discount there isn't a reason to buy them every year. If this new pricing comes to fruition I'm sure we would get new ones every year and of course then we will need more points. I must admit that I am thinking about the two year passes from US/IOA and just using points to stay, but do the drive on our "off-year" February Break. When I have the PAP's I don't feel like I need to go anywhere else, when we don't it is less expensive to go other places and use the discounts offered through their web-sites, etc.

How much are the AP's the first time that you buy them with the DVC discount? I'm looking at all options for our trip in October w/ DH and 2 DS (11&13). We're considering another trip in Feb and then again in October of next year. Any help is greatly appreciated.

beca: my computer skills won't allow me to post a link, but the thread is on this board
"survey on prospective ticket offerings....' by tinkmom.
She got a survey card in the mail about "possible" discounts on a variety of park passes. It is very interesting and gives us all a little hope!

Thanks!!!

Wow...how cool would that be?!!!
