After cleaning & donating 2 bags of clothes & 1 big bag of shoes, I felt entitled to buy a couple of things...My snazzy new shoes that I can't wait to wear:

New skirt (borrowed from the website I bought it from):

I will definitely have more trip-related news soon...my stepmom is debating whether or not to join me, I'm trying to decide if I can do Wild Africa Trek again, and I have some new ADRs!

April, great pictures! The turkey and chipmunk picture is so cute. :goodvibes

Cute shoes (although I could NEVER wear them).

I am actually from the Boston area, but there are alot of us roaming these Dis halls...:rotfl:

Ummm...LOVE the shoes

Thanks! I'm glad you posted. Definitely start a PTR!! Too bad our trips don't overlap.
Are you from central MA, too? I'm surprised at how many people on the Dis are from the area.[/QUOTE]

I love the turkey pics!! I will have to show the turkeys here near me if they know the turkeys near you - LOl maybe they are related :rotfl2:

I love the shoes!

Thanks! Wait a minute...I thought I was buying "low" shoes :lmao: ... I used to wear much higher heels than this, but decided to tone it down because I just can't handle them anymore. I don't know what happened- it was like someone flipped a switch.

Thanks! I'm always surprised at how many Massachusetts/New England people are on the boards.

Thanks! LOL... lets say our turkeys are second cousins. :rotfl:
Are you freaking out about Hurricane Irene yet? Because I am!!! I haven't seen a hurricane in Central MA since Gloria- and I think that was 1986. :scared1:

Really great pictures!!!

My favorite is the turkey and the chipmunk, too, but I want to comment on this one. I work at a historical property and we have farm animals including a turkey. Do you see how his head is blue and red? The head can change color, indicating his mood. If the head is mostly blue, he is happy and if it is mostly red, he is annoyed.

That is my favorite tidbit to share with kids when they visit the farm.

I also love to tell them that goats can eat poison ivy and it doesn't bother them.

BTW- I am in eastern MA.

I had no idea that turkeys heads changed color- that is SO cool! I can't believe that goats are not bothered by poison ivy. They really CAN eat anything, can't they?? Your job sounds so awesome!

To all of my east coast friends: STAY SAFE THIS WEEKEND! :grouphug:

Trying to find the time to catch up. Very cool turkey and bird pictures...oh and the chipmunk too. From what Dee says, your turkeys are all very happy.:thumbsup2

Very cute shoes and skirt! I love the buttons on them.

Thanks!! I think the turkeys must be happy because they know they're safe in my yard! :rotfl:

Did the hurricane hit you? How are you doing? Irene isn't too bad here yet- but I live near to the highest point in the city. I've heard that there has been some flooding in other parts of the city. We'll see. It hasn't gotten too windy yet, either. I'll post some photos and video tomorrow or sometime next week.

Yes it did, but thankfully we are all okay. Lots of branches down, but no real flooding by my house. I know there are over 200 roads in MD closed due to downed power lines and trees. Half of the people in my county are without power, but I am not one of them. Still high winds here, but no rain at the moment, though we will be getting more later. I got some good pictures during the day yesterday, when it was starting, and then this morning. The worst parts though were overnight, so I didn't get any pictures of that. I will be updating my PTR with pictures later today or tomorrow probably.

I'm glad you are doing well so far. I hope she continues to die down and so you won't get anything bad!

Hi April,
I was glad to see your post...the news keeps saying that central and western MA are getting a lot of wind....ok here on the north shore...I'm not near the water...it's raining lightly and some wind at the moment...I have a TON of laudry to do, so I hope we don't loose power!!

PhoenixStrength - glad you have power...that's too bad with all those roads closed!
Let's hope Irene weakens soon!
Stay safe!

We're still ok here- the wind just comes in gusts. There are a lot of downed small branches & one bigger branch fell. I'm glad you & all of the pets are ok and that you still have power. That is amazing that there are so many roads closed!!

I hope you don't lose power, too!! So far I'm amazed that we haven't lost power yet. Thank goodness, too, because we have a well, so no power=no water. :scared1: I'm glad the North Shore is not getting hit too hard!

April- someone over on the BC/YC FAQ thread had questions about the arcade there. I posted the pictures you have on the first page of this ptr. I hope you don't mind, but if you prefer that I take them down, let me know and I will do that.

Dee

@ Christine- I am north shore MA, too! Near Newburyport. We lost power from 9 am to 3 pm but that was really the worst of it for us. Hope you made it through ok.

That's absolutely ok with me that you posted my photos over there! Anything to help out a fellow Dis'er!

At work today (in southeastern MA), about half of the Town has power & half does not. The tree damage has been very randomly scattered, too, but it looks like not too much damage was done here. Hopefully NSTAR gets the power back on soon!

Hi April,
Hope all is well...did the town you work in get power back?

Poor Vermont! I didn't realize how bad they got hit! how awful.

Hi Dee, no power loss for us - thank goodness...9am - 3pm can be a LONG time!
My co-worker in Boxford has not had power since 9am on Sunday...and as of this afternoon still NO power...yikes! she's been showering at a friend's house...and she lives alone..so no power and no company!!! shoot me now!
