The computer automatically applies the code for you

I called this evening to change our October reservation from POP to POR-FQ. While on the call I asked if there happened to be a PIN or a Code or a Pin-Code or any other sort of discount attached to my name or my email. Naturally there isn't.

However, the CM told me "if one comes out the computer will automatically apply it to your reservation." What you see in quotes is her word for word response to my question.

Granted, I haven't been to Disney in 5+ years but I read here and I hadn't heard that before. So, the question is, really?

I know programs can be written for just about anything but how would "the computer" know that I didn't already book FD, if FD was publicly available, and I wanted that v. a PIN code?

Just wondering what everyone else might have heard or know.

I don't think so. I booked our trip on Jan. 3rd. In the mail on Jan. 5th, I received my first PIN - yes, 2 days later. It hadn't been automatically applied and since it was sent via snail mail, I'm thinking it was mailed prior to my booking on Jan. 3rd.

Just last weekend, I received another code via snail mail. I contacted my TA on Monday and she called and had it applied as it gave me a better discount than the first one. It certainly wasn't applied until she called and asked them to apply it.

Cool that you received codes and were able to use them!!

I was thinking that maybe the CM was mistaken but since I haven't been in so long, a lot can change. Maybe I watch too much science fiction (Terminator) type stuff but I was starting to think, "Oh no, the machines are rising up already!!"

Discounts are NOT automatically applied for you. You'll need to call and ask them to apply it. And do it fast, because they only allot a certain # of reservations per resort for using a discount.

Sorry but this CM is NOT correct. In order to have a code applied to an existing ressie, you must call and rebook.
Meaning you cancel the first one and rebook with the code.

Do Not listen to this CM.
