I didn't look at the date on the web page but I showed it to DH and he said that was a while ago and and TV programmes were made about it and the final outcome was that there were two aligators

oh god, i so wish you would have put a warning at the top about what was in the piccie, i have a totally irrational fear of reptiles!! I just about freaked out sitting here, that is quite a feat though.

Seen this before on Snopes urban legends. Cant recall what was decided about it but I am pretty sure it wasnt just a case of a python killing a live alligator then swallowing it. Will have to have alook.

Yeah, I saw this on a discovery channel program. I think the theory was that another Alligator had killed the other one. And then the python ate the dead one. The gases produced by the alligator whilst it was decomposing caused the snake to basically explode after the gases built up. Sorry if that was too graphic.

Basically, one incredibly bloated Python.
