The Caribbean Resort Is So Spread Out

I, personally, wouldn't pay the extra money for a "preferred" location at the CBR. During our first stay (10 days in June, 2006), we were assigned to Jamaica Building 41. It was a great location. About a three minute walk to the bus stop, a minute walk to the quiet pool and beach and about a five minute walk to Old Port Royale. Our room faced a beautiful lush courtyard. I loved everything about the location.

This past stay (10 days in June, 2007), we were given an upgrade to Martinique. The walk from our building was about the same as if we were in Jamaica. Our room faced a very pretty courtyard with bright umbrella tables.

The bus system runs from two different ways. If the bus arrives via the entrance near the Custom House, then the Martinique bus stop was the first stop to pick up and let off. If the bus arrives from what I called the "side entrance", then the Jamaica bus stop was the first stop to pick up and let off.

Unless you really want to pay the extra money for a preferred location, I would suggest a stay in Jamaica. We really liked the view of the courtyards too.

If you want to be close to the food court then I would suggest paying for a preferred location. If you don't want to spend the extra money then I suggest Jamaica or Aruba.

I don't think CBR is that spread out unless you are staying in Trinidad South. The main pool is scheduled to be closed while you are there so you might ask for a room near a quiet pool.

So which room/building would give me a better/great view?

I guess that depends on what you want a view of. Why not just put a request on your reservation "prefer view of _____"? Disney will try to accommodate you within the room class you've reserved.

I would pay for a preferred location in a moderate if it would put me close to the food court, pool, etc., but not for a view. You have exterior corridors in the moderates (no balconies) and people are walking by your room window all the time. We keep our blinds closed most of the time when we stay at a moderate. We love the moderates, but definitely not for their views from the room.

We are staying preferred room at CBR in a few weeks b/c we wanted to be close to the food court. We didnt want to chance it that in the busy summer months we would end up in Trinidad South. We are doing enough walking in the parks I dont want to walk forever to get a snack. Wouldnt pay extra for a view at the moderates but definitely for the preferred location.

So which room/building would give me a better/great view?

Better/great view of what??? If you answer this question, we can better answer your question.

Each of the 6 villages has plenty of water view rooms; water view rooms cost more money per night ($15-$26 depending on season). I don't think there's one village that has a better view than another. But like others have said, the problem with a "view" at CBR (or any Moderate) is that the exterior corridor is between you and what you want to view. So if you have your curtains wide open to enjoy the view, then everyone walking by has a great view of YOU!

I agree that if you want to minimize walking, paying extra for a preferred location building is a good deal. Sure, you can request a building in Jamaica or Aruba, but you might not get your request and you might end up in Trinidad SOuth or Barbados or one of the farther Jamaica/Aruba buildings.

We paid for water view and ended up in Jamaica. We had a great view of the beach out the front window and another beautiful view of a lake out the side window =)

We've (DW, DH, DD11. DD9, DD9) stayed in CBR in '05 in Trinidad South,
Building 35 with a bay view. It was a little far to Old Port Royale. but not too bad.

We just got back a few weeks ago from out second trip and stayed in Jamaica, Building 44 with a water view. It was a little closer to OPR.

Both were great, Trinidad South a little more quiet and out of the way(which we loved).

Be careful when you ask for a water view tho-:wizard: you don't want to get a pool view. We overlooked the bay, but had a slight view of the pool. While the view wasn't bad, the pools are open til Midnight and there are a lot of rude people out there who have no problem screaming their heads off late at night.
