For those of you who are not familiar with my family, and have not read previous trippies and the pre-trip report, please let me do the introductions:
Myself (Catherine) (41) - loves anything Disney, especially Pooh and Mickey as Sorcerors Apprentice
DH (John) (47) - luckily loves disney as well, and is usually happy to agree with my plans
DS (Stephen) (14) - not too bad as a teenager, but doesn't like rides that go upside-down!
The Cannings return to Orlando 2006 - Highlights and lowlights
I suppose this trip report really should have been called the Trip of Firsts, because there were an awful lot of things we did for the first time, despite it being our 5th time to WDW as a family.
Highlights & Firsts
It was the first time we had stayed in a Villa. I called it a villa, even though it wasn't as large as places that some of you stay in, but I didn't know what else to call it. However, the place was plenty big enough for three of us, and we will definitely book a villa again.
Wishes Cruise - excellent and would highly recommend it.
Illuminations Cruise - even more excellent and would definitely recommend it.
Eating at quite a few different restaurants: Boma, Le Cellier, Whispering Canyon, Outback Steakhouse, L'Originale Alfredo di Roma, to name but a few.
Breakfast at Crystal Palace on the first morning, and seeing Main Street virtually empty.
Saying at Royal Pacific Resort for one night and enjoying the FOTL advantages.
Riding Expedition Everest.
Lowlights
The only real lowlight I can think of is that fact that Palm Key Village is on the US27 and it did seem an awful long way home at night.
Not doing more at Seaworld.
We really took our time this year and because we have been before, didn't feel that we had to do all the rides. As you can see by our countdown, we are already planning to go back in 2007. This time we are going with another family, who have never been to Orlando before. We are going for three weeks and have already started planning.
Villa - booked
Flights - booked
Discovery Cove - booked.
Still need to have some planning meetings to sort out everything else.
I hope you have enjoyed my trip reports, and that they have proved useful to some of you. I always enjoy reading other people's trip reports, and always learn something new.
Anyway, I will endeavour to do a trip report for a 2007 holiday, and I promise I won't take so long next time.
