For those of you who are not familiar with my family, and have not read previous trippies and the pre-trip report, please let me do the introductions:
Myself (Catherine) (41) - loves anything Disney, especially Pooh and Mickey as Sorcerors Apprentice
DH (John) (47) - luckily loves disney as well, and is usually happy to agree with my plans
DS (Stephen) (14) - not too bad as a teenager, but doesn't like rides that go upside-down!
Tuesday 1 August 2006 - Day Thirteen - DTD, WWoS, AK & Bomas
DH & I were up and ready at 7.00 am again, so DH did some Sudoko, while I caught up on trip notes and read. Again, by the time DS was ready it was 10.30 am, and we finally made DTD by 11.00 am.
The plan was to have breakfast at Earl of Sandwich, but decided to wait and have an early lunch at Rainforest Cafe instead. Mooched round the shops and wandered into the Art of Disney shop - what a mistake to make!?!
Spent quite a lot of $$ here. I treated myself to a Mickey ornament "Self Portrait", and also fell in love with a Fantasia Mickey original sketch with pin, so purchased that as well. Hadn't bought a pressie for Mum and Sis yet, so purchased another two original sketches - one of Pooh for Mum (her favourite character) and Chip 'n' Dale for Sis. As the Pooh one still had to be drawn, we went for lunch while this was done.
Haven't been in this Rainforest Cafe for a while, and ended up sitting right next to the Elephants.
Loved the bar stools!
Had a lovely meal - can't remember what we had or how much it cost, but service was quite slow.

Went back to Art of Disney to collect the pictures and rest of the purchases (which they had kindly kept for us). DH took these back to the car whilst DS and I headed to World of Disney, where even more $$ were spent.
The plan was then to go to BB, but it looked really full, so we headed off to Wide World of Sports. There was some sort of basketball tournament going on, so the place was quite busy. Tampa Bay Buccaneers were about to start their afternoon training session, so we went and watched that for about 10 minutes.
As we don't understand American Football, we came away and headed to AK.
Went and watched Tough to be a Bug and then went to see how long the wait was for Kali - 80 minutes and no fastpasses. No thanks. Went to watch Flights of Wonder, but got stuck as the parade was on. Decided to watch this, and as we were standing in the direct sunlight, absolutely roasted.
There was a very thoughtful foreign lady there who was using her umbrella as a sunshade stood right in front of us. I politely asked her to put the umbrella down as it was blocking everyone's view, and she just indicated that it was hot and she would not put it down. How considerate! I did tell her that everyone was hot, but it would be nice to see the parade, eventually she moved, so we were able to see. Why oh why can't people think and be more considerate to others? Anyway rant over.
We then bought a drink and went into Flights of Wonder to cool down, which was amusing. We then went back to Kali, and the wait now indicated 30 minutes. Decided to get in line, only to find that it was pratically a walk on and there was only a 5 minute wait. As usual, I got absolutely soaked, although for once DS got wetter than me.
Back to the car and luckily we had the towels (as BB had been on the agenda but we never got there), dried off a little and then it was over to AKL for our ADR at Bomas.
How I would love to stay here. The resort looked fantastic and the food was lovely. After eating our meal we had a good look round and went out to the Savannah Viewing area. Saw giraffes, zebras, wildebeast, flamingoes & Thomson gazelles.
Sat in the rocking chairs for a while and relaxed and comtemplated that we only had one full day left
Then it was back home to do some packing and bed.
