For those of you who are not familiar with my family, and have not read previous trippies and the pre-trip report, please let me do the introductions:

Myself (Catherine) (41) - loves anything Disney, especially Pooh and Mickey as Sorcerors Apprentice
DH (John) (47) - luckily loves disney as well, and is usually happy to agree with my plans
DS (Stephen) (14) - not too bad as a teenager, but doesn't like rides that go upside-down!

Saturday 29 July 2006 - Day Ten - DQ, Mini Golf, Shopping & MK

Up at 7.00 am, and took our time getting sorted and ready.

We had promised Stephen we would go to DisneyQuest (although I am not keen on the place!). We arrived at 11.00 am to find that it didn't actually open until 11.30 am (WHOOPS).

Spent a couple of hours in there. Stephen likes racing his dad on the car racing games, but I tend to just find somewhere to sit and "people watch". Ended up chatting to a lady who was actually British and was married to an American and had been living in the states for a number of years. Passed the time nicely.

After we left there we decided on Wolfgang Puck for lunch. We had eaten there last year and really enjoyed it, however, this year felt a little disappointed.

Had a look round the shops, but didn't buy anything (most unusual), until we got to the Cirque du Soleil shop! We had been asked to purchase the CD for some friends who had been to WDW earlier in the year, so that was duly purchased together with 2 fridge magnets, a book and another CD for me. I love the Cirque music, so unusual.

The plan then was to go to Blizzard Beach. We arrived and drove round the car park, and duly drove out again. The car park was absolutely packed, cars were even parked on the grass, so we decided the water park would be too busy. We then realized it was Saturday, so not necessarily a good day to go to the water park anyway.

As it was close by, we decided to go to the Winter Summerland mini golf, and did the summer side.

Then, as we hadn't been to LBV outlets, we decided to pay it a visit. DH was not particularly happy with this decision as he is not keen on shopping, so he stayed in the car.

We weren't actually there all that long really. Just long enough to purchase 2 pairs of of K Swiss trainers for DS, 1 pair of Sketchers for my sister and 2 more tops for me from Old Navy.

We had an ADR for Ohanas at 7.00 pm, so drove back to the Polynesian. Arrived at about 6.30 pm and parked, and then wandered through the resort lobby and booked in. Had a bit of a wait, but not too bad. I really enjoyed this meal, especially the peanut dip, but DH & DS were not so keen. DH was quite disappointed as the past two years we have had the character breakfast at Ohanas and he has really enjoyed it, but didn't really enjoy the dinner at all. Maybe we will go back for breakfast next year?

After dinner we took the boat over to MK. The first Spectro parade was about to start, so Main Street was really busy. We walked up through the shops to Adventureland and went on Jungle Cruise. We have never done this in the dark before, but it was still really funny. Then it was a visit to Swiss Family Treehouse, and then another go on POTC. This time we went into the right hand queue, and decided that this line is longer!!

By this time Spectromagic had finished, so we we headed over to BTMR, as DS loves riding this in the dark. Not too long a wait, and as we rode this Wishes started. This was great and a really brilliant view of the fireworks. We got off the ride and watched the rest of Wishes from Frontierland. This was a different view of the fireworks and we had never considered watching them from this area before.

Over to Tomorrowland, as DS wanted another go on Indy Speedway, but the wait for that and Space Mountain was too long, so both saved for another day.

I really wanted to watch Spectromagic from the hub, as we had never seen it from there before. We found a spot in the hub, facing the castle. Excellent. DH went off to find "smokers corner", whilst DS went off to purchase more popcorn and a drink.

By the time they both arrived back, there was about 10 minutes to wait and the CM's had got quite a good game of catch going with all the children in the crowd.

Another arty photo of the castle, whilst playing around with the camera!

Spectromagic started and it was as brilliant as ever. Loved it.

Took a slow walk down Main Street, and took the resort monorail (as the line was shorter, and we had to collect our car from the Polynesian).

Back home to the Villa for about 12.15 am.
