dh has not been a terribly active part of our vacation plans. I've been doing the research, talking to him about it, and its always, whatever you want. okay. well, the CCI sounds great to me...its just the 2 of us this trip and we are only spending 1 day in the parks so it will be commando style to say the least. At the CCI we can walk to disney, we aren't paying an arm and a leg, its not like at wdw where staying on property is more important...at least that is my impression. keep in mind its been 15 years since I was at DL, and then we never stayed over.

anyway, I was just talking to DH and saying we should spend our first night (we'll be getting in around 8 or so) at DD and maybe visit a couple of the hotels. his first response is, why not just book at the GC? um, hello, because it would be hundreds of dollars more for a place to crash. we won't be spending much time at all in the room.

does anyone want to reassure me here? the CCI is fine, right?

Yes it is a nice place. If DH is thinking proximity, the Park Inn and Tropicana are very close and have free continental breakfast. The breakfast is better at Candy Cane but the walk is a little longer.

Close enought to walk, and everyone here who's sayed there thinks it's great.

It also rates as the second best hotel in Anaheim on tripadvisor.com

Along with the Howard johnson most here would rate it the best of the moderate nearby hotels to stay at - you've done very well.

I'm sure the Candy Cane is wonderful.

I have no idea what your budget situation looks like.

If MY husband said "why don't we just stay at the Grand Californian" those ressies would be booked so fast it would make his head spin! That place is gorgeous and if you want a way to get a little extra "Disney" out of your trip, that would be it! Breathtaking views, imagine seeing the parks all lit up at night. A truly magical experience.

But the Candy Cane is safe, clean, and very nearby, you'll be happy whatever your choice.

I've stayed at the CCI about every year for the past 10 years. It's very convenient to the parks. You can easily walk or take their free shuttle, which is only for the Candy Cane. The shuttle is always reliable.

The rooms open to the outside. The motel is not very big and is in a horseshoe shape, with security at night, so it feels safe. They have lots of touches like cobblestone road, lots of flowering plants everywhere and a sort of New Orleans type of iron work for decoration.

The breakfast is bagels, muffins, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruits, coffee, juice and that sort of thing. The pool is a bit small, but attractive.

The rooms have down comforters, so if you are allergic to feathers, you need to know this.

We go because it's reliable and we love the shuttle being just for that hotel, and free. The breakfast is a big plus, also.

I haven't been to the HoJo. The Park Inn (the one that looks sort of like a Tudor style place) is OK, but at the time we stayed, had no breakfast.
