Day 0 - All the fives

Welcome intrepid reader to the first instalment of my merry trip report.

I will not bother introducing us, as I am sat on the balcony at BWV typing and am not sure how long my power will last – both laptop and physical, oh and I’m lazy!

I have called today day 0, as all we did was travel, oh and drink. Also, it gives me a day headstart on my chosen path!!

We had an annoying drive to the airport but still managed it in (due to the weather) around 2 ½ hrs, so all in all not a bad job.

Check in etc etc etc was fine and we enjoyed a satisfactory meal at the Sofitel – no doubt Deb will elaborate when she gets to her report.

More importantly, 2 beers and a bourbon were enjoyed, so I am 3 up on the schedule already!

BTW, dear reader, I have decided to alter my goal a little and give myself a break on volume, allowing a bourbon to count as one of my eleven – think of getting your “five per day” on fruit and veg – it’s the same sort of thing!

“All the fives” – relates to our trans Atlantic journey, and of course a drink. We woke at roughly 5am the morning of our flight (well 5 something) is the first of said fives…

We got thru security etc etc fine and then were ensconced in the V Room, via Duty Free, for a bacon sandwiches and 2 Guinesses – or is it Guinei?!?! A quite pleasant setting, but not a patch on the Clubhouse, but c’est la vie.

So to the flight which goes pretty quickly (watching 3 films helps though), importantly a glass of sparkling wine, a Rum and Coke, a glass of red wine and a brandy are the scores on the doors for me.

We breeze thru MCO until getting to Alamo, but even then the wait is only 15mins or so. As usual, the guy at the desk tries to get us to have some extras, be it AAA cover, satnav or an upgrade – as before to a car which we then go to the garage and drive off in – Caddy SRX. A “dry” drive to BWV, wasting good drinking time by doing other things!

A quick freshen up at the room, which is ok, and we’re off to the REAL holiday. A stop off at ESPN shows the place to be rammed - it is roughly half time in the NFL games, so no real surprise.

We decide to try Big River… and get a seat at the bar which is nice. They only have 5 (the second of our fives) of their beers on, so I proceed to try them all, with Deb making an admirable effort of staying with me.

After 5 beers we decide it’s probably time for bed so wander back through the shop, with Deb chanting “OMG look at this” at virtually every piece of merchandise – I think the Manhattan she had to finish off has kicked in!

We end up back at the room, having debated whether to buy any liquor in the shop, and the decide maybe a night cap at Belle Vue is in order. So off we go, we end up talking to some guys at the bar and I, think, the cocktail count in here is around 4 Bourbons, maybe 6 though (memory’s playing up a little) after chatting to one guy who keeps suggesting we go to Jellyrolls, we decide maybe we can keep going so off to Jellyrolls it is.

I am afraid this is where we slow down somewhat and I only manage 3 Corona’s all night. A good night though with both of my requests played (Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue – the best song ever and Wonderwall), amazing what happens when you put $10 down for a sing ain’t it – well worth it though, albeit I think Deb and me are the only people stood up singing to Home Sweet Home, Deb then manages to find some dancing buddies...

We finally give up the ghost at around 12.30 (5.30 UK time and a mere 24hrs since we got up – the last of our fives BTW), stumble back to our room (and I do mean stumble) and sleep washes over us very quickly.

Sounds like you started as you mean to carry on :rotfl:

Glad the journey was uneventful and that you got to BWV very quickly.

So any piccies??

Claire ;)

Great start Matt - bit of a novelty for you, getting your requests played at Jellyrolls. I'm thoroughly impressed that you made it there on your first night though - bet it wasn't the same without the rest of us though.

Great start Matt.

I knew you would get to Jellyrolls sometime (or at least I was hoping you would), but I would never have guessed you would have made it on your first night

Great stamina from both of you - keep up the good work and don't forget to have one or two for me

Tam

Brilliant start, looks like you had a great time in Jellyrolls. You have both certainly thrown a challenge at us !! Loooking forward to hearing more - enjoy both x

A 24 hour day that included a Trans-Atlantic flight and 21 (or 23) drinks, a night at Jellyrolls, a few hours sleep and you're up and writing a trip report on the fly!!?!

I had no doubt that you and Debbie could hustle some Jellyrolls company, but am surprised that you took it on at the end of the very long first day. Then again, there's nothing like the combination of Disney vacation induced adrenaline and Jellyrolls music to keep a body going past the point of exhaustion (despite the sedative properties of a considerable amount of alcohol). May I suggest you pace yourself, Matt? I don't want you to hurt yourself. Keep having fun--enough for all of us.

I'm not sure I believe this report. Deb staying up until midnight after all that travel? I reckon you Photoshopped that picture of her at Jellyrolls. :rotfl2:

I'm proud of you both.

Kev

Great start to your trippie and indeed your holiday :thumbsup2 good scores on the drinks as well !

Nice to see that a "Worthy" challenge has been laid down at last :thumbsup2

Great start mate, come on tell me Debs must have had a few power naps in there somewhere.;)

Dear lord, Matt, what a start, good going on you and Debs matey, hope this continues, great start:thumbsup2

Great start Matt :thumbsup2 It sounds like you had a good day, though I am very worried that Deb could be doing the YMCA in this photo :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
She was Mandy, bad news was the song was R-E-S-P-E-C-T, think she had a spelling malfunction!!

Looking good, Matt - and the delightful Deb! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

A very commendable start, sir! Recently back from a stay at BWV myself and just loved it - can't wait to get my partner in wine (aka DH) over there. Belle Vue Lounge is definitely my new favourite watering hole - move over Mizners!

Already salivating at the prospect of another installment, so onwards and downwards - the hatch, that is! ;)

Belle Vue Lounge is definitely my new favourite watering hole - move over Mizners!
You may want to read tomorrow's report as I can trump Belle Vue and Mizners with today's discovery:thumbsup2

Great start Matt (and Debs)! I'm surprised you could remember all that. ;)
