A friend of mine was given this book at the age of 18 by his dad and plans on doing so with his children - he told me he learned a lot from the book and has read it about 10 times.

So I purchased it today to read - just wanted to know if anyone else has done so and wanted your opinion.

It's a super excellent book. :thumbsup2 I'm into a lot of self improvement, personal power, empowerment stuff as I'm a counselor and staff some of Tony Robbins' live events. He's the "guru" of personal power/empowerment coaching who pretty much made that whole genre famous with his books and tape/cd programs. :yay:

Dale Carnegie, who wrote the book you are talking about is another great one in the field. These books teach a new way of thinking and looking at and responding in situations. It's about making new distinctions that you weren't taught before. Their work isn't just about giving cookie cutter steps to follow. Like, do Step A, then Step B and Step C will be the results. It's about teaching you to think differently so you can handle a multitude of situations better. :cool1:

I read it when I was about 17 for a psych class in high school. I did a book report on it. I wish some of the mores were more in practice today but I think it's somewhat dated based on how business and society are so teched out.

Required reading in my college Business classes! :thumbsup2

I had an employee a few years back who was fresh out of college, smart, hard-working - very capable. However, people just didn't like him. He "rubbed them the wrong way." After a long heart-to-heart about his performance and his future, I gave him this book. He read it and made a complete turn-around. He thanks me to this day for giving it to him - he is now a very successful young man and I couldn't be more proud of him. :goodvibes

I had to read it for work. i thought it was really great and not boring either!
