It was a beautyful sailing. The sun was shining, there was a great party on the pool deck with loud music and Mickey and his pals, and even a fun tropical drink in a souvenir glass. Ten seconds before the stroke of 5 pm, the band counts down...10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, the ship's horn plays 7 notes (when you wish upon a star) and the ship simultaneously begins to move away from the dock and sail out of port. It was truly a sight to behold!
Dinner that night was at Animator's Palate. When you enter the dining room it is black and white, but by the time the meal is over, everything is colorful! (I bought the color changing pin to commemorate the meal). Our table included Michael, Corey, Nancy, Bette, Megan, Peggie and myself. The bread basket, a Boa Brigade favorite, was ok, but the rest of the meal was great! For dessert I had a Mickey bar, served on a plate with rainbow sprinkles..right off the kids menu
. After our meal, we went to buy pins...the ones that go on the map, and to get our completer pin.
The rest of the evening was spent at Wave Bands, the night club on the ship. I know I don't remember everyone who was there, but some of us were Winnie and Fred, Peggie, Michael, Corey, Donna, Ed, Stacey, Sir ChefManny and Lady Michelle, Nancy, Bette, Dana and Michael(apologies if I left anyone out) Luckily they did not run out of cranberry juice, so many of us were partaking of the offical libation of the Boa Brigade
. It was 70's night, complete with lots of disco music and dancing. They had a John Travolta contest, where they had three men from the dance floor don a white jacket and do their best impression of John T. while Stayin' Alive played! Winnie's husband was one of the victims, er, I mean participants and I will defer to her to describe the scene as she remembers it. They had three women victims lipsync to "I will Survive" while wearing an orange BOA of all things!! It was almost the hit of the evening. Little did we know what was to follow....
We were all enjoying the show when Michael noticed that Corey was missing. Where could he be we wondered...men's room? bar? buying more pins? At about the same time, we heard a helicopter land on the ship...what the heck was that we all wondered??? The next thing we knew, the host was announcing that the Village People were here and ready to perform live. "YMCA" started to play and onto the stage come five guys dressed as the Village People!! "Hey, that Indian guy in the middle looks familiar...OMG...it's COREY!!! We all ran to the dance floor, knocking over a cranberrry drink in the process and danced along! Corey, you did a great job, and looked quite striking in your indian headdress!! Did anyone get pictures??
Little by little, everyone decided to retire for the evening, but Michael and I decided that we hadn't quite filled our fun quota for the day and went off in search of some pin trading...at about 1:00 am
This of course had absolutely nothing to do with Cosmopolitans, but rather with our love of pin trading and our desire to find those elusive pins. We found a table with Figgy and Tracy and stayed for a bit before deciding to call it a night.
Coming attractions....Nassau, Atlantis, Straw Market, big bag of pot, Palo and standing on top of the booth.....
