Spoilers

I recently got around to finishing up the last Heroes of Olympus book, The Blood of Olympus. I've had the book itself since it came out, but was admittedly too scared to read it ^_^* I didn't want my favorite series coming to an end. But, I was motivated by my friend, and I finished it up in a few days.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed with it!

I know, terrible, my friends are unable to comprehend why I didn't like it as mush as I did ;)

The book itself was fine, love Riordan's writing, I could picture everything great, I liked reading it from Nico's point of view (he's been one of my favorite characters since he first came in and was asking Percy if he could surf), that was really nice.

However... no Percy point of views.

Last book...

No Percy.

Now, Percy has always been my all time favorite character, no matter what people argued, I always thought he was better than any of the Seven. I was pretty upset it didn't end in his point of view. It had him in it plenty, but I wished he would have been a bigger part, since he was the one who really started all of this in the first place, with the first Great Prophecy.

The Giant War was a little anti-climactic. I mean, the Titan battle in the first series took a long time. It made sure to stress how many casualties there were. A lot of stuff happened. The Giant War, I thought, was too quick. I mean, they're fighting, and poof, the gods come and they completely destroy the giants and that's the end of that. I feel like it ended far too quickly after all the intense building-up throughout the beginning of the series.

The fight with Gaea seemed a little fast, too. They made it seem like it would be so hard to defeat her, and when it came to it, it didn't seem as difficult as it was made out to be. I mean, it was hard, and Leo would have died for good without the cure. But it just didn't seem as intense as the battle with Kronos or other final battles like Harry Potter's.

I don't know, I feel like it was almost tied up too nicely. I also know I would have been terribly upset if any of the Seven had gone for good, but Leo's little loophole wasn't as appealing as, like, Harry's. (I know, I'm comparing this with Harry Potter a LOT...)

I'm pleased with Nico's ending, though. He's not as detached to everybody now, and it looks like he's made a good friend with Will Solace and will probably be good friends with Jason, and he and Reyna are on good terms (half wishing they would date, but I know that wouldn't happen). And the fact that Nico walked up to Percy and rather blatantly "cleared the air" made me laugh

Leo and Calypso. I'm happy as far as the fact that Leo made it back to her, but I wish we would have figured out exactly what happened- is Calypso immortal if she leaves, will she even be able to leave, when will Leo get back to the remaining Seven, I want to know all of that.

I don't know, it just wasn't as enjoyable of a book as the other books in Heroes of Olympus and the first series were.

So yeah, now that I'm done with that, what are your guys' opinions, for those who've read it? Did you like it? How do you feel about the series ending?

And on a side note, Ella randomly said a line of a prophecy during one of her long speeches. It mentioned the sun. Was that from the Kane Chronicles? I haven't read them in ages, can't even remember if they even have real prophecies like that. But I remember how important Ra was, and since it mentioned the sun, I figured it may be from that. Or maybe a line from a future prophecy in Magnus Chase.
