11/02 Our First Day
Greg and I get up at 3:00 a.m. and are out the door by 4:00 a.m. as we have a 6:30 flight to catch. Since the rest of the rest of the cast lives in Florida, they decide they will meet us there at their leisure which is fine since we did not plan on going to the parks anyway. After our uneventful flight we are off to get our car at Dollar and then off to the Dolphin. As I check in I am told we were upgreaded to a room with a balcony. Now I must tell you although are room was nice, I was sure glad I had gotten the Teacher's discount because I reaqlly did not think it was much nicer than the All Star rooms we were in last year....just my humble opinion. We drop off our luggage, park the car and then we are off to Beaches and Cream to meet the parent's for lunch. Greg and I decide to share a burger because we have a PS for Yactsman's in just a few hours. My mom and step dad do the same thing becasue they do everything we do and even after being told for over a year to put a little money away for the trip, did not and came with very little money. This is a usual occurance for tehm. Not to worry, Liz and Greg will pick up the tab, as always. Our waiter is very nice and has a very dry sense of humor. I rather enjoy him, but my mom and step dad don't know quite how to take him. He brings out 2 burgers on four plates which was very nice. I notice my tomato still has the sticker on it and we all get a good laugh from it. The waiter insists on getting me a new burger, but I tell him it is really O.K. Besides...how is the kitchen going to make a half of a burger????? We all laugh and enjoy our meal. To show my gratitude I eat all of my food and write Thank you and a smiley on my plate with ketchup and mustard. My mom tells me that is not polite and I politely ignore her as I am getting to the ripe old age of 37 and think that I have left the nest a long time ago and just smile. The waiter laughs as he clears the table and now my mom thinks this is rather funny. I pay for the bill and my mom and step dad are off to Epcot while Greg and I stroll leisurely around the Boardwalk taking it all in. I also call my sister and her family (my dad is also with her to see what they are doing.....they are having a great time at Animal Kingdom and tell me they will meet us at 8:00 for our Illuminations cruise. At lunch my mom tells me she and her husband are not going on the cruise becasue they might feel uncomfortable...mind you they go to my sister's house and my dad lives with them for every holiday and the kid's birthdays. My father even offered to pay for an electric scooter for my step father because he is a large man, who does not know how to save a penny, with a heart condition. My dad told me and my sister he woudl much rather pay for a scooter than go to a funeral as a scooter is cheeper. Sometimes you just have to laugh.....this was one of those times. I make a ressie for them at Rose and Crown and request an outside table. I also give them my credit card number and have the dinner bill taken care of. Greg does not understand my family, but then again I do not either..... Next stop for us in dinner at Yactsman. Dinner was great if you ask Greg. I seem to be having a little digestion problem..but I make the most of it and try to enjoy myself. It is nice to see Greg enjoy himself as he is so tolerant of my family and this trip. I am the one person in our family who makes the least amount of money and have underwritten the majority of this trip for everyone. I paid for the hotel rooms of my sister and my mom and step dad, the kid's hopper passes, the cruise, several meals, GOH badges for everyone and spending money for the kids. And Greg is very quick to remind me that I have yet to be thanked. Everybody is now off their own seperate ways and it is getting close to 8:00. Greg and I were able to see a beautiful wedding take place in the gazebo in front of the Yact Club. It was breathtaking. My sister and her her entorrrage are getiting off of the boat as the wedding party passes. My dad looks the bride square in the eye and tells her "You'll be sorry!" The bride looks at him and says "uhhh thanks.....". I just wanted to die...but that is the way my dad thinks and he does speak his mind. Off to our wonderful Illuminations cruise. Kimmy is our captain... and this cruise in unbeleivable. We all have a wonderful time. Kimmy drops us off at our hotel and then takes the rest of the bunch to the dock to get my dads scooter and to catch a bus back to the All Stars. Greg and I reflect on the day and ready ourselves for tomorrow as it is going to be a busy day. Tomorrow's adventures include moving to the Boardwalk Villa's and MGM. After a few rumblie's in my tummy and a look at the little blister that is starting to form on my third toe it is off to bed .....got to be up and at em very early in the morning for a full day!!!!!
