DD7 and I spent 11 days at WDW. The first 7 nights we were on the dining plan. We found the dining plan to be way too much food for us, but I enjoyed the ease of paying and ordering with the plan. I took lots of food pictures and pics of the restaurants.

Thursday Nov 12

We arrived in Orlando at 9am. By the time we got off the plane, got the rental car, checked into AKL and arrived at Epcot, it was 1pm and our airport Starbucks oatmeal breakfast was not holding us over anymore. We had 4pm dinner reservations at Le Cellier, but needed something, we headed to Norway for snacks at Kringla Bakeri og Cafe. DD picked the chocolate raspberry cake and I went for school bread, using 2 snack credits. DD's cake was very good, dense cake with rapsberry and nuts. I love school bread, but I think there is less filling than last year

Just kind of an FYI, the CM who did our reservations noted DD's birthday on all our dining reservations. It was interesting to see what restaurants did (or did not) say or do anything for our celebration. We went in not expecting anything, so it was neat when something did happen. I'm going to throw that info in to each review just in case someone is expecting to celebrate somewhere.

One more review before I head off to the "real world"!

I was excited about our Le Cellier reservations. I wanted to eat here on our last trip but got overruled. I tried to make most of our dining reservations around DD since it was her birthday trip, but I thought I deserved at least one dinner! I apologize for the dark pictures, but I'm not a fan of using the flash in restaurants if we have people seated too close by!

DD started with the Tinkerbell punch
ry%3D400

I hate to fly, plus all of the stress of trip planning and getting everything done and out the door on time was catching up, so I was ready for a drink. I opted for the blue glowtini so DD and I could have matching glowing cups. It was actually really good.
ry%3D400

DD and I both opted to start with the cheddar cheese soup. We usually go to WDW over Halloween and attend the Food and Wine Festival, so we always stop for a sample. I make it at home quite frequently, but mine never turns out as good as theirs!
ry%3D400

We were done with our soup before our waiter brought out our bread. The service wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great.
ry%3D400

DD went with grilled chicken and fries. She was literally falling asleep in her food since we had been up since 4am to catch our plane. They were nice about it, boxed it up and sent it with us so she could eat it later in the room. She said her 3 bites were good though
ry%3D400

I went with Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce. This was sooo good. The steak was cooked perfectly, however the risotto was still crunchy in a couple of spots. It didn't stop me from devouring it!
ry%3D400

I was full from my school bread, soup and steak, so they offered to box up a dessert to go for me. I really wanted the maple creme brulee, but the waiter suggested it wouldn't travel well, so we took a long a chocolate moose that we nibbled on later.
ry%3D400

The mousse part was good, but the cookie part almost tasted like old stale cookies. I was a little disappointed in it.

Le Cellier was okay for us. I loved the steak flavor and it was well cooked, the risotto tasted great, and our waiter was pretty quick on everything but the bread, but just not very personable. I really wish I would have ordered a different dessert. They did nothing for DD's birthday, although the lady at the next table (with a different waiter) had a piece of cake brought out with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate, so apparently celebrations at Le Cellier can be hit or miss.

I've got time for one more!

After a few rides at Epcot, we returned to our room and took a nap. DD was hungry when we woke up late that night, so we headed to Mara right before it closed since we were staying at AKL to use a counter service credit. I had the cheese flatbread which was good (be prepared, it's greasy!) and carrot cake and ice tea. DD went with PB&J, grapes and a cookie, plus milk to drink. We actually saved the cookie and grapes and she had half of my flatbread and carrot cake. We were impressed with Mara as it was easy to get around, the CMs were helpful and the food came out pretty quickly.

I'm in for the food porn.

Unfortunately, celebrations are "hit or miss" at any restaurant--not just LeCellier (I saw an irate woman at the WCC because they did nothing for her DS for his birthday). I think it tends to be based on how busy they are, etc.

Reviews are great so far.

Awesome reviews so far! That chocolate raspberry cake from Norway looks devine! Can't wait for more!

OOOH, great! I'm excited!

I hope the reviews help. I know I read tons of them when planning where to eat!

Count me in!
Welcome! :hippie:

This is why I didn't even mention to DD that she may get something for her birthday. I figure if she did, it would be a great surprise. We did see someone freak out at CRT because someone's table had confetti for a birthday and theirs didn't!

Great reviews so far, shame about Le Cellier :)
I was sad to have to type such a mixed review. I mean, it wasn't horrible by any means, just not as great as I would hoped. The steak was really good though. I'd go again!

It was good (had to take a bite for review sake, you know! Almost like a brownie

Count me in as well! Great reviews so far, can't wait for more!

Welcome! :wizard:

Friday the 13th :upsidedow

Today we enjoyed breakfast in our room from our Garden Grocer delivery. DD had donuts and I had muffins.

ry%3D400

No she didn't eat all 6, we just didn't have plate!!

Today was our DHS day. We've had some lousy counter service at DHS, so today we decided to try something new: Starring Rolls

ry%3D400

We couldn't find much in the way of a kids menu, so DD picked PB&J with carrots, cookie and bottled water. I had the turkey foccacia sandwich, banana as the side, white chocolate cupcake for dessert and bottled water. DD ended up with some of my sandwich. It was really good. It was huge with layers of turkey and cheese and then it had some sort of pesto? roasted red pepper? sort of sauce on it. I like that one of the sides could be fruit. The cupcake alone was worth the counter service credit. It was huge and really good. DD and I split it and save her carrots and cookie to snack on later.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

And just for fun
ry%3D400

I liked Starring Rolls, but the kids menu sucked, and if it's busy, it's hard to get around in there to get to order. The seating outside was nice with umbrellas. I say go for a cupcake at least!

Friday the 13th dinner

ry%3D400

I love the inside of this place. Looks like Grandma's!
ry%3D400

Our server was "Auntie Janice" She was pretty good, but the other waitress in our room was way more fun to watch! I wish I would have gotten her name as to send people her way! She was a hoot. We sat down and Auntie Janice ran through the rules "no elbows, no hats, eat your greens, no whining, no spit wads etc" and after she left the table, my overtired daughter started to cry about how she didn't think she could remember the rules and she didn't want to get kicked out of the restaurant because she was so hungry  We had a talk about how it was all in fun and they were just playing, and she watched as the other waitress spoon fed our neighbor his green beans while making airplane noises, then she relaxed and played along!

I had the pot roast. It was really good, no fat at all, but the carrots on top were really crunchy and hard to eat
ry%3D400

DD went with grilled chicken, which was served with pasta, green beans and fruit
ry%3D400

I got a clean plate club sticker which DD found hysterical
ry%3D400

We split a cheesecake for dessert. It was light and the strawberry sauce was really good. Not sickly sweet like some
ry%3D400

When DD stood up, Auntie Janice saw her birthday button, made her sit back down and brought her a cupcake, making all the "family" in the room sing to her
ry%3D400

We enjoyed dinner. It was laid back, the food was good "home style" cooking. DD liked to watch the antics of the other people, and our waitress was good about seeing DD was overtired and didn't push her too much (although she did get her for not wiping her mouth once!)

A cute sign on the way out
ry%3D400

I am sitting in bed sick with 9 days until our next WDW adventure and came across your wicked food report!! Can't wait to see more of your reviews popcorn::

After a late night at DHS, we went for a quick swim, then headed to Mara to use a couple of snack credits.

DD opted for the bear claw brownie and I went for zebra domes

ry%3D400

I've read about people raving about zebra domes and had to try them. They were okay, but not as spectacular as I thought. I actually only ate two the entire trip.

Today was another Epcot day. We ate a quick breakfast in our room (donuts and milk for DD, coffee and muffin for me) For lunch we decided to eat at Lotus Blossom Cafe since we were in China for our Kim Possible mission.

DD chose the kids sweet and sour chicken. It was served over rice with the sauce on the side, carrot sticks and applesauce. She devoured the chicken and rice.

ry%3D400

I ordered the shrimp fried rice. I wasn't expecting much since it's theme park food, but it was really good, and had quite a bit of shrimp in it. It nice and light. It was served with an egg roll and I opted for the caramel ginger ice cream. I'm not a big fan of ginger, but this was really really good. DD and I split it and ate it all.

ry%3D400

We liked it so much that we almost ended up eating lunch here again on our last Epcot day!
