The best way to find a Vacation Planner right for you?

Over the past few days, I've had a few friends share the names of their certified Disney Vacation planners. After doing some digging on their websites, I wasn't that impressed. Now, with all that said, the hubs and I LOVE the *idea* of using a Disney Vacation Planner for our next trip. I like that they've got our best interests in mind and super tight in the Disney space. And for some reason, the fact that Disney pays them directly appeals to me.

I'm not looking for referrals here because I know that's not allowed. But I'm mostly interested in how people find a vacation planner they mesh well with. Any suggestions on where I should start rather than blindly use someone my friends have in the past?

I've never used one as I like to be in control of our plans, but your best bet is to research. Utilize Google for reviews. Some agents go above and beyond, others do their job, and some are sub-par. I think I would look for an agency that only deals with WDW, as they may be more apt to be on top of discounts, etc. Their job is to simply book your accommodation, but I'm sure you'll find agents that will also book your dining reservations, FP+ reservations, etc.

We found ours back in 2013 when we booked our first trip, through the Unofficial Guide to WDW. They mentioned the agency several times, so we thought ok, we will check with them. We've used the same woman, and the first time we didn't know what we were doing really, and it seemed fine. In 2015, she booked for us again, and I started thinking for this 2017 trip, why do we need one? I started to do it myself, then thought you know....I already put so much effort into the trip. So we emailed her again, she booked it, and then I kept emailing questions and etc, and so she's actually worked harder for us this go around, so I feel like its worth it. Its no extra charge for us. In fact, when last month Grandma wanted to come in June, she was superb making a disney plan similar to ours, but adding on universal and transport for grandma while she spends her alone time. She also helped us to get a VIP cleaning, so my sensitive skin little man can have allergy free detergent sheets. I think she's worth it, and they can do as much, or as little as you want.
