We are the proud parents of a DCP daughter and she will be doing the program starting this August. We are trying to decide when would be a good time to visit her this fall. We are trying to decide between the first week of Oct or the first week of Nov. Would like some opinions based on lower crowds, good weather, events going on at the time, etc. we hope to stay on site with her discounts, probably at a moderate resort. We have been to WDW several times but never in the fall. Any ideas would be appreciated.:cool1:

On my last program, my parents came to visit over the Veteran's Day holiday. It worked out really well for them work-wise (and my sister was in school so she didn't have to worry about missing class). The biggest advantage of that weekend, though, was that they got to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party with me (my first time going) AND get to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival (in its last weekend). The crowds weren't horrible then (they picked up a little from where they had been prior to that), but my family is also notorious for being there during the busiest weeks in the summer, so for us any line under 1 hour is pretty awesome! :rotfl:

This time around, they're opting to visit me the first week of October because it works out better with their work schedules (and, since I'm from Cincinnati, the Bengals schedule as well :lmao:) Based off of the crowds from 3 years ago, I'm hoping it isn't too crazy-busy for them!

My advice is to not go too close to the holidays (not only will it be busy, but you'll get black-out dates) and on a weekend that isn't a holiday weekend. From what I remember on my last program, the starts of both October and November weren't too busy at all! :thumbsup2

It seems now that every year my folks come down on Veterens Day weekend. As the PP mentioned, its not terribly busy, there are many events going on, plus the weather is ideal.

I do recommend though, once you decide on a date, book your hotel ASAP. Many groups like to come in during the fall (sometimes they buy out part of, or the entire hotel), especially on weekends, so rooms could be hard to come by, depending on where you want to stay. Pop Warner does this at All-Star Sports and Music in December.
