The Best Laid Plans of Keriann: 4th of July at PBH

Wait till I tell my hubby the Walmart story. I can see it now, "Jodie, that is reason # 6,342 why we do not have children." :rotfl:

That is crazy. Would they allow you to buy a pack of smokes if your kids were with you? What about buy an R-rated DVD or video game? When will the madness end?!

The Walmarts around here do not sell alcohol so this is a new one to me.

I second Mac on that! Buckeye12 PLEASE let us know how your shopping trip goes! We bought some Bacardi Breezers at a Sams Club on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee last year and didn't have any problems...kids and all! We buy stuff like that at the WalMart in the next town from us and the cashiers there have never had issues with it.

I will let everyone know how it goes.....I'll put it in my trip report. We always hit a Wal-Mart while we are on vacation just to compare it to our store and how the people are. We should arrive in Orlando Aug 10th!

After a fabulous dinner at Pastamore (no pics since we left the camera in the room) we headed into IoA for water rides. Here's where we hit our first big line trying to even get in the park. They only had 3 turnstiles open for everyone trying to enter the park which caused lines back past the ticket windows. 3 people wedged themselves in front of The E's stroller which wasn't a big deal UNTIL it turned out that they were part of a group of about 70 people and ONE woman had everyone's tickets. Out of order. So since we couldn't jump a line and try to miss this group we waited nearly 25 minutes just to get in the park.

We did Spiderman first since The E is a wee bit obsessed with the guy and it was so cute watching him try to hold on to the bar with one hand and keep his glasses on his head with the other. As soon as we saved the Statue of Liberty we headed straight to Bluto. We came to get wet and so the light steady rain didn't bother us a bit but the kids in the raft with us were squealing like baby pigs every time they got wet. We walked off that ride thoroughly soaked and went straight to Jurassic Park. We bypassed Dudley DoRight because even though The E is just tall enough to squeak through, we were worried about him panicking and us not being able to hold on to him. On JPRA I can smother him with my body and be fairly certain he won't fall out. Shelby doesn't like JPRA since she was scared by the T Rex as a small child so she sat it out but The E was up for anything. As our boat went up the very first hill it stopped. We sat for about 5 minutes when someone came up the stairs next to the boat and said that due to the rain, the water level had risen past the sensors, so the computer thought something had fallen in the water and stopped the ride. They had to drain enough water to lower the level to where the computer would start us back up again. As long as she wasn't going to make me get out and walk down those stairs in the rain, I was happy to sit in our boat in the dark (uber creepy) and listen to The E run smack about how he wasn't scared of any stupid dinosaurs.

When we made it down the plunge intact, we decided to head for another round or 3 of Bluto. It was raining pretty well by this point and we were all so wet that water was literally running off us in streams. I had made sure to pack The E's crocs and everyone else's rubber soled shoes, but neglected to bring any for me except my tennis shoes that I didn't want to get wet. So, in my infinite wisdom, I wore leather soled sandals that night. Walking onto Bluto, I was holding The E's hand and making sure he didn't slip on the steps down to the dock and as soon as he was safely down, I totally wiped out. I fell down 3 steps onto my back and right side. It really REALLY hurt and DH was helping me up while Shelby nearly had a seizure she was laughing so hard. The TM working on the dock called over and asked if I was ok, which I was sore but really not hurt badly aside from a broken nail. We rode it twice more and then headed back to the boat to call it a night. By the time we got back to the room, I had the beginnings of a monster bruise on my right forearm and on my back but that's what I get for wearing leather sandals in the rain.

after i would have found out about the 70 people, I would have freaked out. NO WAY. i would have butted our 3 in front of them and letting them know we were already in this line first....absolutely unacceptable!

you could have held on to him from behind him....the seats are really close together that YOUR handles are the seat back in front of you...you could have "bear hugged" him from behind.....

I hope you learned your lesson :teacher: (typical Mom takes care of everyone else but herself) and you are healed....fingernails can be fixed, but it does suck to break one!

thanks for keeping us posted on your TR....I like reading 'em better than writin' 'em.... :headache:

OUCH! :scared1:Were you able to move the next day?

Great TR. Sorry to hear about you injuries- bet that wine would have helped if only you were allowed to buy it! Can't wait to read more and see more pictures (Gema LOVES pictures!)

i'm laughing too (with you,not @ you)...can always count on your kids to yuck it up when mom hits the dirt.:) Glad just your dignity was bruised.

Great start to the report!
