The Best Excuse To Go To Disney - Chef's Table Review 4/18/06

I like reading food reports, regardless of whether I like what they are reviewing or not. I've made some pretty good decisions on our WDW dinners based on others' experiences.

My post was rhetorical.

That said, I understand your view, but I also do not see you posting in multiple threads saying that you do not ever like the food reviewed in them. :)

Often what I picture when I read a menu item description is WAY off base! Getting first-hand reports along with pictures helps out a lot when I'm trying to decide where to make ADR's.

Disney often "fancies up" their descriptions of food, and then when you get there, you find out it's a grilled chicken breast with mushroom gravy and beans on the side. :rotfl: :rotfl: Also, WDW's food presentation is often very unique...

Exactly. For most restaurants I read the reviews because I might actually decide I'd like to try one.

For this particular restaurant it's a little different. I'm too cheap to dine there, so I'm not reading them for personal benefit. I actually just love to see the enthusiasm of the reviewers and I enjoy looking at the pictures. Generally if I don't like a dish I don't even want to see it, but somehow V&A can make even the most disgusting item (per my tastes) look appetizing.

Honestly, I'd take a 16oz steak with potatoes, vegetable, and cheesecake over V&A's any day, but it doesn't mean that I don't enjoy reading the reviews. I just have simple tastes...I don't eat any seafood, any innards, any "weird" animals (I tend to stick to beef, chicken, and pork for the most part), or most creamy foods/sauces. That severely limits my choices from the V&A dishes. I guess it's a good thing that I don't like V&A's food, because if I did I'd be trying to justify eating there and it costs about 4x the maximum that I'd ever pay for a meal.

Upon our arrival we were greeted jubilantly by Israel, the Maitre d'Hotel (more on him later). He welcomed us back to V&A and wished Katharine a very happy birthday (which she was all to giddy about this birthday dinner :rolleyes2 :rotfl2: ). As we were escorted to the alcove in the kitchen, we were greeted not only by the busy chef's, but also by a little piece of aromatic heaven. :cloud9:

Michael and Katherine ... :cheer2: this is a GREAT review :cheer2: ... keep up the good work. I can't wait for my favorite part!

Great start to your review. you are well on your way to giving Mr. Disney a run for his money. :yay: can't wait to hear more. Love these reviews Oh I must edit to add K-Man pirate: you are also doing great reviews. Love them all so far. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Twinsmamma ... Can We Talk?

I had no idea Mister Disney had money. I go through his pockets all the time, doing the laundry, of course, and every once in a while come across spare change. Even then, we both leave our spare change out for the Lady of the Manor!

I know where the jewels are. pooh:
Please call me and let me know where he's keeping the money. :jester:

K-Man that is our little secret. you must spend more time in the chains with the pirates pirate: to find out this very private info.:rotfl2: When you are good and ready we will let you know where the money is stashed. :cheer2: Not a minute before. you must be patient and only then will the pixiedust: be sent your way.
Take care and keep the reviews coming. what a wonderful experience that you gave Mr. disney. Keep up the good work and that money will come you way.

Can you explain how the Chef's Table works. Is the food the same,as in the restaurant, do you have choice of selections, how many courses, etc?

Mr. Disney is :moped: past you. Can't let this continue for two long. I want to know if you had chicken with long breasts and translucent skin :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Basically you get a ten course meal with a sampling of just about everything they are serving in the main dining room, and this includes the extra cost items such as the caviar, foie gras and kobe beef. Figure on 4-4½ hours and being able to observe an unusual kitchen at work.

A very yummy start so far - I'm looking forward to the rest and to reading about the differences between your experience and Mr. Disney's.

Great reviews with even better pictures...too bad my laptop isn't equipped with scratch and sniff. Or in this case maybe I'd be better off with sniff and lick? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks for sharing!

Hellooooooooo????
Did the Misters Disney chain you up with the pirates??? :rotfl:

Please, oh please don't let us hanging, can we have the rest of the review.....
