The beds? Strange question...

Our last trip to Disney, we stayed at OKW. The beds were tall and this was difficult for my hubby to get used to. He did not sleep well at all the entire trip. This year, we are staying at the VWL. Could someone who has stayed at both places compare the beds in the studios? I know VWL has a bed and pull out, versus the two queens at OKW, but is the bed at VWL as high as those at the OKW? I am aware this may be a bizarre question, but without good sleep, a Disney trip can be exhausting!
THANKS for any replies.

No, not as tall, but I'm curious why that would bother his sleep?

They aren't abnormally high, but I must say, though I dearly love VWL, the quality of the beds is not much better than bags stuffed with straw. If your DH is an uneasy sleeper, the mattresses and pillows are more likely to keep him up than the height of the beds.

Have a great trip!

I've always wondered why the OKW beds are so much higher than anywhere else. I've stayed at all 5 on-site DVC resorts, and at OKW the beds are MUCH higher. I've often thought how nice it would be to have one of those little step stools like my kids had to brush their teeth when they were little. Or like some of the van services have to help you step out of the back of the van (otherwise it can be a long step).

My DH and DS got a real kick out of watching me leaping into bed every night on our June trip at OKW. :confused3 I'm only 5'1", but I've got really short legs and if I just stood at the edge I'd have to almost roll into the bed, but if I took a bit of a running start I could make it with a little leap. :rotfl2: Hey, aren't we all kids at WDW?

I wish that the beds at BWV were as high as OKW. Then maybe the bedskirts wouldn't be dragging on the floor. We have had several ripped skirts, the result of people stepping on them on the floor, I'm sure.

When my 80 yr old 4'10 mom & I go down to OKW for our annual Mother's Day trip, she actually uses the big thick phone book as a step stool!

I just got back from a split stay: 2 nights in a studio at VWL and 4 nights in a 1 BR at OKW. The king bed at OKW was noticeably higher than most beds. Didn't notice anything unusual about the height of the queen bed in the studio at VWL.

But I did find the mattress at VWL to be too hard. I like a firm mattress but the one in the VWL studio was so hard I just could not get used to it so I didn't sleep very well the two nights we were there. The mattress in the 1 BR at OKW was also firm, but I slept very well every night.

One advantage of the high bed at OKW is that my rolling duffle bag fit underneath. I liked being able to tuck it away under the bed rather than have it taking up space in the closet.

Just curious (as others have already asked) why the height of the bed interferes with your husband's sleep?
